@@jeemale9207 hahaha, Funny isn't it. Canada is more like that discount thing u get for free when u buy real product. Yes i'm still gonna stick to N as National cuz thats whole USA and Canada calls it.
@@RamRam-jp2kc "that's whole USA and Canada calls it". What does that even mean? And it's ok to change your tune when someone proves you wrong. No one's gonna think less of you for it
@@jeemale9207 I didn't change tune. Everybody knows canada is a different country but its so similar its almost like another state of USA. DOn't get too technical, i just mean in a symbolic way. Learn how to read between lines and not word to word.
The NBA would become 10x+ more entertaining if they went hard cap. Some of their "exceptions" make sense, but the majority of them are absolutely absurd.
@@user-Ic7hx7wd9c LOL you think if there is a hard cap people will stop playing? Theyll turn down millions of dollars, fame and the game they love simply because of a hard cap? God you're dumb
The team has to pay the difference to get to 90%. It’s paid to all of the players on the roster. How it’s divided is predetermined by the players association
shit so isn't it impossible for a team with a superstar to give that player a supermax deal without going over the luxury tax? some of these deals are over $200 mil
Thank you so much!! I learned so much from this video. Would you be willing of doing another nba salary cap video going over even more terms? Much appreciated
Secret Stuff We are hoping to do a more in depth video for the exceptions! There is A LOT of them so we wanted to make a general overview and then go into some more details later on, a video fully on contracts might be good too we thought?
I heard if Houston didn’t keep cp3 they would’ve only had 6mill to get point guard? But they paid Chris Paul way more so I was confused on how that works
The two sides seemed to drop the ball in ‘96. I wonder why there’s no information on tearing up that CBA when the cap went into the stratosphere. That was justifiable grounds to overrule any violation of contract and it did more bad than good in my honest opinion. What happened was a free for all Wild West all over and these silly $40 M contracts to 12th men got out of hand. In the end, the game lost a lot of its purity and the beginning of the spectacle being more important.
But if the nba gives teams they money they use to pay the players than what do the owners even do? If the tv deals pay the salaries what do the owners do lmao
Yeah, we tried to keep it simple and group the apron with the luxury tax but there are different rules associated with the apron. Basically, if you exceed a certain amount over the luxury tax threshold (about $6 million) some of the salary exceptions (bi-annual, some sign and trades, etc.) are no longer available. If you are below the apron and use one of those exceptions you become hard-capped and cannot exceed the apron amount for the rest of the season. Looking back, we should’ve touched on the potential to be hard-capped.
Well, the NBA is doing far better economically than the NHL. So I don’t think the NBA should be copying the NHL. Plus, the soft cap is clearly the best way. A hard cap punishes teams who draft and develop talent well as they will have to let some of those players go when the cost gets too high. A soft cap allows these teams to keep all of those players, assuming the player wants to stay.
