Play #1: busted. Play #2: for no discernible reason, a defender lets Doubs go free even though the defender has no one else to block. Even then Love throws _REALLY_ late & almost gets Doubs injured. a _lot_ of YAC was missed because of where & when he threw that *to a completely open receiver that he almost missed.* #3: worked. But by #4 the question "is this the Packers being good or the Cowboys self-destructing due to horrible play-calling" is already being answered. A light box on the goal line? This is Mike McCarthy, always cringing under pressure & calling what he thinks are failsafe plays but they're not. He thinks he has Just Enough players spread out when the last thing you want in this area is to randomly spread your defense out. How a play-caller can be in the league this long & not know this is beyond me but it's not like he's the only one. NFL team owners are _business owners._ They have No Idea What makes a good or winning coach. So they hire *what they **_think makes_** one* but based on business acumen. "Players are my employees. So coaches must be the supervisors. I should hire whoever I think would make a Good Supervisor." & the answer to that is always the Tyrannical Moron who pushes the employees around. Goodbye Bisacchia & your Winning Ways, hello Josh McDaniels & the Terrible Times. Before anyone says McCarthy doesn't call the defense, Yes He Does when he gets stressed. Go back to every game he was HC in & lost & you'll see the same structures. He may relay it _through_ the DC but they're His Calls. Sean McVay *Just Hired* an assistant because he realizes that his play-calling sometimes goes to rot under stress & he is absolutely right. The _only_ HC I currently *know* doesn't lose his cool at that time is Andy Reid. Which means every HC needs such an assistant. I hope this starts a trend because guess what? Matt Lafleur does this too, & often. When his schemes _don't result_ in immediate success he starts yelling even if there's no one around & typically doesn't adjust for over 20 minutes of playing time. The *first two passes* Love made that game were completely off yet were caught because the Dallas defense were being coached by someone in a complete state of confusion. Lafleur can't keep his head either when down in regular-season games, let alone important ones.

That MIKE played the Tampa 2 correctly. He’s supposed to wall off and carry any vertical route by the #2 receiver. #2 for Dallas should not jump that check down until the hand QB comes of the ball. This is not on Quinn who likes to play Tampa 2 because it is essentially a Cover 3. Green Bay runs a dagger concept and it’s covered of Lewis doesn’t jump. Another point, Parsons gets a 1 on 1 and gets beat. This also looks like a long DND so execution matters on this play not the play call from Quinn

"Melton staying engaged in his block" IE a clip. That was funny
@TheScoutingPack
@TheScoutingPack 4 месяца назад
Which play are you talking about? Melton had nothing close to a clip. If you’re talking about the cut block on Parsons, that isn’t clipping. Clipping is from behind. If it is head-to-head, it is a legal cut block because the defender has the opportunity to avoid it.
@robertfetrow4612

@@TheScoutingPack 25.13 mark. Melton blocking Lewis. You comment that he stays engaged but he engages on his block which happens as you make the comment. He clearly behind trying to work towards the front or side, clearly outside the tackle box. Its okay, the packers worked the cowboys but that kind of comment is a bit much. We know the refs are soft of such calls which is why teams involve wrs in blocking schemes like they do.

You don’t understand the rules if you are calling that clipping. Clipping has to be below the waist and from behind, it is rarely ever called now because people don’t do that anymore. He’s on the front shoulder and the DB reaches towards the runner which is why he falls. If there’s anyone who calls shit how I see it, it’s me. Just last week in my Bears game breakdown I made it a point to say “I don’t know how that’s not a penalty” on Owens for unnecessary roughness while hitting a sliding QB.

@TheScoutingPack
@TheScoutingPack 4 месяца назад
A lot of MLF schemes have read progressions based on the coverage presented, so many plays can beat either man or zone. And a few of the big plays were against man: Wicks TD, Musgrave’s TD, Doubs Over/Sail route with Gilmore on him. Just great play design to be able to attack both effectively.

7 step drop and play action, so he has to take a little extra time to get his eyes around and diagnose the coverage. If the post-snap coverage doesn’t line up with what he saw pre-snap it changes who he should throw to.

Makes sense to nitpick though. There are certainly things to work on. The throw he made isn’t open if it’s C2 instead of Tampa 2. So I’m sure he first looked to Watson and then took a step back to make space and hit Doubs.
@TheScoutingPack

Also, for the drop backs, this was specifically for Dallas. Being under center and having long play fakes forces Dallas to respect the run on every play. Definitely by design.

It’s technically within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage as the EZ yards don’t count. DBs are coached to push out WRs who go to the back line because it makes them an ineligible receiver. If the ball is in the air and he’s the intended target, it’s PI, but nothing else really.

@@TheScoutingPack True but completely missing wrs in routes isnt really about play calling all of the time. We may like to think so but it was pretty clear on the tight end td pass as an example that the two inside backers/dbs completely missed an easy assignment and the way the defense was set. The inside guy on that design is supposed to cover any wr who releases from the right side and the outside guy stay outside in case the QB rolls that way or runs. Both defenders sat down and stayed wiht the QB. That is a clear assignment missed but we can pretend your HC tricked them. If that is what you want to believe

There’s two outcomes: If the Packers win the Super Bowl against the Ravens, it’s scripted - because it will follow the exact same path as 2010. Lowest seed, beating 1 and 2 seeds, and then playing an NFC North division rival in the NFC Championship, before beating an AFC North opponent in the SB. 🤣 The other conspiracy theory is that the SB matchup is the Ravens and 49ers because of the SB logo colors.

I down voted you hoping that you would see my comment. I am tired of the Love a$$ kissing and I am a Packers fan. It is absurd. That entire game was play design as you pointed out. That throw to Musgrave is awful. That throw you highlight at the end, yes, a good throw, but evidence of Love's second worst player trait, he is late. He is almost always late unless the first option is wide open, and it is not a 9 route. Which brings me to his second weakness which I am shocked NFL teams haven't figured out yet, he can't throw that 9, at all. It is almost always underthrown, or late, and sometimes long, but rarely accurate. Same with a seam 20+ yards. He doesn't throw anyone open. Ever. They gotta be wide open, or running a slant dig or post. Or it has to be a 15 yard pass, as long as it isn't an out route. He'll be late or throw that long too. That Cowboys play that you showed early, where 'Watson clears it out', all the Cowboys had to do was recognize he ain't throwing that route to Watson and if he does he won't complete it, there was no reason to have that safety run with him, he was covered with two people. Because Dan Quinn is an idiot. If I played the Packers, cover 1 or zero the entire game, and I'm playing press man. Closer to what Cleveland tried against Texans, with some much needed tweaks. Stroud is a more accurate qb that will throw the 9 with accuracy (he did miss a td on one that game though). Lafleur should be applauded for recognizing what I said after 9 games and then changing his entire play calling and scheme to what Love can do well. They were trying to be a vertical offense early, they envisioned Watson taking the top off and those te's stretching the seams, but Love kept missing those throws or not throwing them. That is why Watson had great numbers last season but he can't seem to 'get on the same page' with Love. Because Love can't make those throws like Rodgers could. The entire video, there wasn't a single throw that every qb in the NFL can't also make. Not one. Love is being credited with Lafleur's success. And it drives me crazy. Dude isn't better than Goff. Solid, does a lot of stuff well, but he can't make some throws that do limit this offense, unfortunately. I'm worried Kyle will exploit that, because none of this play design stuff his defense hasn't seen in practice daily. I just hope the same is true for them and GB plays a great game of defense.
@TheScoutingPack

His poise and command of the offense both in the huddle and at the LOS are not that of an average QB. Does he have things to work on? Yes. Footwork and deep ball are things to work on. But those things are offseason focal points. A first year starter playing like this isn’t normal when you compare it to QB play around the league.

@@TheScoutingPack Those are the same exact things he had to work on in college. And he struggled with the same exact throws. You can look up his throw/route chart from college, his succes on the 9, the post, an out, etc. Where every type of throw his entire career was tracked. The throws he struggled with, he still does. The throws he didn't, he still does not. He's thrown the ball at least 100,000 times in his life, he's not going to improve with a throw that he struggles with after the 100,001st rep. My ultimate point. This was not a qb worth drafting round 1, then setting on for 3 season, he was not worth closing a championship window for. He is not worth purposely closing that window in order to start fresh...4 years down the line. There have been so many qb's in numerous rounds that they could have drafted to play like this. This is play design more than Love being good. Those are mostly first read or second read throws, and they are often late. What happens when Lafleur can't out game plan the opponent? Love struggles. The Ravens have beat this scheme 5 times this season, luckily we did not play them. GB could have drafted to win a championship then, they could have drafted weapons then, they could have tried to win the SB and got a QB for the future. Is Love better than Browning? Probably not. Is he better than Minshew??? Probably not. Sounds like we could have played for that title and gave a 4th rounder for Minshew, or signed a Baker, and we'd get the exact same production. Hindsight tells us all of this. The smart defense will let Watson run 1 on 1 deep, every single time. That is a 50/50 ball at best. Love is yet to hit a wr downfield in stride when throwing over 30 yards. He can't make that throw. Sounds similar to Goff. The irony being our coach is buddies with that coach that had the similar but better player comp(Goff is more accurate and will make that throw, sometimes and can hit it in stride, sometimes) and he traded his a$$ because he was convinced all these limitations eventually matter v. the best defenses. Then he won a SB. There was no reason to covet Love like they did and then close that window. The fact that Lafleur and Gute looked to scapegoat anyone that they could after that loss to TB is the reason they made that pick. It is Lafleur's fault they lost that game. The defense took the ball away 3 times the second half v Brady, GB kept going 3 and out and then punting it back. He decides none of that was his fault and he fired that defensive coach to hire his family friend and then he drafted a new qb. THEN he played stupid and pretended he wanted Rodgers...because Love showed up practicing and they were like, 'oh, shat, this is going to be much more difficult to work with, fack' and they were willing to placate Rodgers. Until Adams told them to get f'ed, they drafted no weapons, they had a 300 lb TE fumbling away the prior seasons chance to do something and they had a #1 wr that was healthy scratched by the NYJ some games this season for being lousy (for undrafted dudes!!!). THEN they run Rodgers out of town and what is the first thing that they do??? Spend a high pick at wr and draft two te's that can run. Because they realized the entire cupboard was bare. Cusp of the SB, thrown away to bench a qb for 3 seasons. That worked once, but only because he was a HOF player, otherwise it was stupid when they drafted Rodgers too. Love is not him, we can stop pretending.
