Ironically William slimming down for his disguise let Charlie kill him with the Springlock Failure. Since William's previous bulk is probably the one thing that let him survive the first time.

or maybe its the fact that his head didt get spring locked both times i.e only the body part has spring locks and the arms legs and head part are normal i mean we never see the robot part in the fnaf 3 mini games so maybe the first time he has only finished the body and only got spring locked there and then did the rest and it did't happen until charlie spring locked him so that time he got spring locked all over

This was exactly what I imagine William as, he loves basically being a character to the point where he feels they are different people entirely. I think that one of the ways William coped was that he isn't the one who did it, it was Springbonnie. The reason he only does the murdering as Springbonnie is that not only he would get caught, but he sees Springbonnie as the 'evil' version of himself. Same goes for Dave, Dave is the nightguard, the guy who stops teens from breaking in, not William. But that's just my personal headcanon.

I always say Silver Eyes William having a sort of multiple personalities, not that he literally has several separate personalities, rather he completely adopts a role to the point where he basically becomes symbiotic with them - given how his voice becomes almost smooth, inviting and oddly comforting once he speaks with the Springbonnie head, likely also due to a second point: I'm not too sure about the part of him showing cowardice when people are aware of his identity, rather I believe he simply feels almost superior when in another role. While the anonymity is likely a part of the safety, i think the terror, fear, stealth or any other aspect that he Dave/Springbonnie roles grant him make him more drawn to such characters rather than his true self. In TO, i always thought Springtrap was a lot more boastful and uncaring due to literally becoming one with the suit, becoming immortal in his own twisted sense as the only danger wearing the suit brought him has failed to permenantely end him. Although, to be fair, i haven't read the original novels or the graphic forms in quite a while, so i may be incorrect.
@Scar-Predator
@Scar-Predator 9 месяцев назад
Yep. Even after he got the suit removed and couldn't walk on his own, he still found a way to be a cruel, boastful killer, getting others to do what he no longer could, while also not trying to hide the truth anymore from those who know it. Springtrap was when he was completely narcissistic, as he states in TFC Graphic Novel, with his newfound strength he kinda lost his need to be stealthy, but returned to it in TFC.

I’ve read the books recently and you’re pretty much spot on. William is theatrical and dedicated. He embraced Springtrap in TTO, going so far as to relinquish his old title of Afton and say he was more than he ever was. He eventually goes back on this in the third book, but I do find it telling of the character ‘Dave Miller’ that William says in TFC: “Dave the guard was a character, one concocted on a moment’s notice to play you [Jessica] for a fool, you and your friends. It was insulting. It doesn’t take a great thespian to pretend to be an idiot night guard.” I hope the fnaf movie continues this route in the sequel. I want William to be clever, but manic, willing to switch personalities and identities at a moments notice in order to trick someone. I think it makes him more threatening; that if he needs to, he can seem so utterly trustworthy and kind. The movie’s already shown William’s alias ‘Steve Raglan.’

the spring bonnie mask scene in the silver eyes was so effective to me, it really showed the depravity and insanity of afton in a chilling way. i also really love the description of the journals he kept about henry - a mixture of hatred and near-worship. william's wild jealousy towards henry made him admire and despise the man at the same time, and that motivated the first of his vile actions (the kidnapping) to "punish" henry

I always thought that Afton snapped after being "killed" in the first book, that his personality just completely shattered and remade itself into a kind of "god" instead of just the cowardly broken man wanting a family in the first book. His fear is gone now because yet again he didn't die, in his completely shattered mind he is indeed a god now, his obsession with remnant being his way of ensuring immortality to not only himself but all his twisted family, possibly making more over time; nothing can hurt him, no one can stop him, so why fear, why hide? I personally like all three novels, and Afton just kept getting scarier to me, because in the second and third books he's free to be the monster he started being in the first book.

I think the worst offender for me when it comes to the slow character assassination of Will over the years was when in TFC he just says that Dave in TSE was an "act", which basically means he meant nothing of what he said during that interrogation scene. How do you make such cool and interesting villain and then fuck it up by saying that him pouring out his heart and soul was "just an act" the fact people can still like Will as a villain post-TSE is honestly baffling to me. It's not like the introduction of Dittophobia makes him any better. Now he's experimenting on children in FNaF 4 by using "hallucinogenic gas" (?) to study their fear or some shit. His character has been completely and utterly ruined in the games timeline and I genuinely think we can never come back from it. Here's to hoping he's more like his TSE self in the movie. 😑

It sounds like it. Afton gave movie Mike that job, and is implied to have kidnapped his brother during the missing children’s incident. If, after learning that Mike was investigating, he went to go silence him, it would be in character for him to do. Plus, it would explain not only why he’d hire a security guard rather than do the job himself, as he’s a coward, but also why he’d take the time to dress up in the bulky and sensitive Spring Bonnie springlock suit when hunting them, to confuse the animatronics.

Having recently seen the movie (which I thought was good!), I think that Silver Eyes did a better job of characterising Afton. The way in which he has this near fetishist relationship with his Spring Bonnie suit is immensely uncomfortable, and it's as if he himself is a robot too. And that line of 'Because I am one of them' really hammers home a sense of disturbing mystery and intrigue concerning his motives and worldview. He felt like a true serial killer similar to the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer. Of course, then they ruin that by making him a cartoon villain in TTO and a mad scientist in TFC.

It's worth noting that TSE was meant to be a standalone book. It was expanded into a trilogy later, due to the ongoing trend of making trilogies and the constant requests from fans for more of what TSE had, since it isn't bad - it's not great, but it's certainly not a bad book. Unless it's the graphic novel version, which just sucks due to how bad the actual graphics are, something shared among all three of those horribly inconsistent-to-the-text messes. Anyways, setting _that_ can of worms aside, Charlie was never intended to be a robot in TSE. The plot was of Sammy dying, and Charlie being haunted by the traumatizing event of losing a sibling at age three, and eventually managing to move on from it through her return to Hurricane before she returned to her home in another city. The book ends on the group partially splitting up and a lot of other decisions that TTO and TFC immediately retconned out, but them pulling a 180 on quite literally every single peice of character development in the book is somehow not the worst parts of those two. Living in a world where those two never happened is the preferrable option, even if the Funtime Mangle design in the third book is something to keep. What TSE does well is the animatronic depictions. Each animatronic has character to it, and when they're on the hunt they have the right vibe for it, even in the parts leading up to it - Freddy standing motionless on stage when the others move and playing his music box when no one's around and standing motionless while the other two are moved by the stage controls, Foxy shifting around when not being watched, even Golden Freddy emanating ethereal whispers that communicate thoughts without words. And the book does retain that feeling that the first game has, of it not being just you and the animatronics in a building, but also feeling like the whole place is properly possessed and haunted. The animatronics aren't living robots in it, they're lost souls stuck in performing machines. It's quite well done. And, of course, Dave's depiction is indeed incredibly well-done. That scene makes me wonder if he was the original idea of Michael - a man possessing his own body, keeping it all alive despite the fact that it should've died, and the rest of him became the rabbit. Then, him getting springlocked is the only way to kill him fully, reuniting his fractured soul so that it can be destroyed as one. But that's a bit of a crackpot theory and the fear thing works much better for the character. There's a lot of things that could be speculated about but it's just generally such a cool concept, and it elaborates nicely on how springlocks work, how the animatronics actually act, and how the place was meant to be. It's a rewrite of what Scott wanted the original games to be like. Though the eventual decline of him being a ridiculously competent yet stupid mad scientist and engineer was unfortunate, this depiction retains what was actually scary about the original Freddy's killer, about the Purple Guy - he's just a normal, damaged man. A real phenomenon, who happened to get lucky enough to kick off all the rest of this cycle of pain. It helps that, like you said, without some disguise that isn't his normal self, he gives no personality to work with, making him truly feel like he could be any person. Like any person could be him. That's also why making him an engineer or inventor or whatever ruins the character. I hope Bonnie teleports in the movie. He does that in TSE, in FNaF 1, hell Withered Bonnie does it in UCN, it's just his thing.

serial killers in the real world will often kill wearing masks or disguises as a way to dissociate themselves from their crimes. I would imagine that is what they were trying to hint at; the mans true face IS the rabbit, so he will only talk candidly when the mask is on.

Video was awsome! Here are my opinions: What I think of William? Well, I apply book Williams to the game Williams, because I believe they are the same. And you know what? It works. And I accept that William is a cold and coward character, but what I think of him is a jealous narcissit and rageous sociopath who keeps his rage inside until he himself is revealed. He fears to be seen as a guy who kills for his own monsterousisty, he doesn't feel empaty or remorse, but I think he wants to be something meaningful, to himself. And because of his narcissistic disorders, he wants to show himself as something worth to fear and respect. He wants people to be loyal to him, he uses everyone around him because he thinks he is superior. But what he really is is a coward who had done nothing but to steal. Steal Henry's fame. At least, it was what he was until the bite. After the bite, he lost his fame, his carier, his loyal people. He raged and feared to be meaningless, he was superior in his mind. He deserved more attention than Henry got with the Freddy's location he got in charge and focused after the death of his child. He wanted to take things from Henry as he did before. He raged as he raged from jealousy when he killed Charlie and so he killed 5 more children. I believe that William is pure evil, and I support it with the lines of William in the Fazbear's Frights books. And I believe that William just choosed to separate William from Spring Bonnie, because he wanted to act as he was, but didn't want to show how evil he was as himself. He feared to be seen meaningless, not only by the crew, but by himself too. And in TFC, William showed himself as a man of science. He made himself believe he was important and he was a science man. But all he was was just a pure monster who was so coward to show his true nature. Until UCN. In UCN, TOYSHK showed himself his true nature, he/she made him face himself. And even if you don't believe Fazbear's Frights share the same timeline, Afton's Amalgamation was what William would have turned if UCN happened. I know it might sound confusing, but I believe that all Williams were same in persona, and that game William also felt the same things I told he did in TSE, TTO and TFC in FNaF 3, Fred Bear's, FFPS, and his relationships and life. Thank you for giving time.

I completely honest critique of the movie if that Will is not all that complex, but I think that was on purpose, to make sure Mike stays as much the main character as he was the protagonist. There might be a second movie, and thats when they'll probably make William more interesting, since it's just as likely that he'll be a villain protagonist, and Abby & Mike's story has no lingering threads to Freddy's. Film Theory: The lost animatronic souls will probably be heroic antagonists, portraying Freddy's 2 & 3, or just 3, since 2 is just the same story as 1, but with more clarity.

I quite liked his portrayal in the Silver Eyes. Too bad they ruined him in the sequels tho. Like, you had this pretty awesome villain that you then decided to turn into a crazed scientists looking for immortality? In a series about ghosts? C’mon. It’s a shame, because the Twisted Ones and the Fourth Closet could’ve expanded his character even further, but instead they wasted poor Willy.
@NoobSebot

In the Silver Eyes he does have the appearance of a crazed scientist who may subtly have an interest in immortality. I think the problem with silver eyes is that they never scratched surface of his motives. Also tbh, The story wouldnt make it another 6 years if its about ghosts. I like how they shifted the story and shed spotlight to the motives William has, the motives the Fazzbear company has, instead of focusing on crybaby ghosts that slap security guards at night. But point is, we just never got any motive for him up until now.

One thing I've always kind of wondered is if Afton fought in Vietnam. He's roughly the right age, if we assume he was born in the late 1940s or early '50s, and his experiences could have helped to develop some of his nastier traits, as well as his cold efficiency when it comes to murder. The only real problem I could see is that he's been portrayed as British in the past, but the more that time goes on, the more that aspect of him seems to have been retconned anyway.

Ya know what... As somebody who liked the trilogy of the Silver Eyes, I gotta say......... Best one is the first book. It had a good plot and the other two decided to just needlessly complicate it for basically no rhyme or reason. Charlie is a girl tormented by the loss of her twin brother and the suicide of her father alongside a fear of Foxy and the loss of her friend Michael from years ago. They revisit the place and Mr. Afton is at work again. When Afton grabs Charlie, she activates the springlock mechanism in self-defense but also a little bit of revenge for what he did to her brother and how he ruined her life.... her tragic story gets a conclusion and it matches pretty well with a lot of content of the first three games despite taking creative liberties. Afton makes a great villain and his fate is pretty fitting.... Then the Twisted Ones started out and it all goes pretty downhill as they keep adding more and doing retcons of the previous established story.

Writing is a very very hard thing, I've literally been writing since I was a toddler (well maybe writing as much as a toddler could lol more like making "comics" as a toddler, and later home movies about monsters and super heroes as a slightly older kid and teen, and then learning actual writing as I got older) but the point is I've been trying to tell stories literally my whole life, and I don't know that I could make a good movie or write a good book or novel or whatever, and I certainly know my dialogue could use work, but I really think I could make a decent fnaf story with springtrap as the villain, similar to the fnaf movie. Tho my springtrap would be closer to the "an interview with springtrap" animation than say the movie version for example, not that the movie was bad I actually liked it and loved every second springtrap was on screen. And off topic but I especially loved when Mike goes to taze springtrap and he just laughs and yanks the tazer off, then charges and throws Mike, that shit was sick. But imo springtraps biggest problem is that no one knows what to do with him. He never has a plan or goal other than kill the player or main characters, usually without a motivation for killing them other than gameplay reasons or just needing it to happen. Even the movie fell into that "trap" (lol) so my main concern would be to give springtrap a well thought out goal, with an incentive, and a plan to achieve said goal. And also feature him more than the movie did. Also it would be rated r and super dark and gritty and definitely not for kids. I think I could do a decent fnaf story that includes alot of the broad strokes of fnaf and afton lore. But that's just me maybe it would suck and every one would hate it lol I just can't help but feel the character isn't being allowed to expand into his full potential as a character and that's mostly cus he just comes back and instantly dies again constantly with no actual goals or motives etc. Just be creepy kill player that's it. He can be so much more. But fnafs ever turning towards a child audience wouldn't allow it to be as great as it can be. Such a shame.

@EN-mh4og 8 месяцев назад
I believe that Afton didn't kill the kids to make himself a family. He just noticed that the animatronics had been possessed by the kids and then his obsession with them started. Also in the Fourth Closet i liked that he hated how he acted as the Springtrap. There is also the scene where he confessed that he feared death so much that the pain he felt was better.

To be fair, the reason he is different in The Twisted Ones is that he is on a power trip. He's no longer just a weak, mortal, man. He is an undead robot monster, one that cannot die, and, as an animatronic, can't even be arrested. He no longer fears consequences because he now thinks himself to be above them. Though, as we see at the end of that book, he is not as strong as he thinks himself to be. It's only really in The Fourth Closet, where they actively retcon his portrayal in The Silver Eyes as another disguise that it becomes an issue imo.

Well in the TFC it was revealed that Afton is afraid of death and punishment for his sins and that being a Springtrap made him feel like he's cheated death. But he understood that being Springtrap was just a comforting lie. Dave, while being his made up character, was somewhat a reflection of William. Dave is his "Springbonnie" form.

Since he is insane and even became more so after the spring locks triggered. he was pretty much on a euphoria power trip after from his pov having been made one with his suit in book 2. book 3 him being wheel chair bound was from prying the suit off of him after he realized he was still alive but was dying, he was trying to find a way to become immortal by becoming one with his original creations, the family he always wanted in his twisted mind. this is just my opinion not fact as fnaf is open to interpretation.

Even my own headcanon includes that bit, But i dont feel an insane William is right for the character. I would rather have a narcissistic sociopath. Sociopaths arent inherently crazy (im friends with one so i would know), in many cases the simply have their empathy turned down or muted. They can also be impulsive and such. @@Herr_Schindler you can't be a psychopath without also being a sociopath, as it is an advanced form of sociopathy. Though, there is an important distinction. In the movie, he does not fear his death. In the game, he clearly does. Some sociopaths still have that component of fear. Psychopaths do not care. It was described by my teacher as a simple "game over" to psychopaths. In the movie, William faces his death head-on and even goes as far as to mock the children as they make their way to kill him. Hell, him saying he'll return just shows he genuinely thinks of it as just a game over screen that he will simply click continue on Meanwhile, game William screams and runs around a room for a while before hiding in a suit. @@nathanfish1998 no you can. Psychopathy and sociopathy, being synonymous with antisocial personality disorder, are very different. Psychopaths are born, sociopaths become like that. Psychopaths cannot physically experience empathy or love, but sociopaths, as you correctly noted, can, but with difficulty. These are two different disorders, which, however, cause antisociality. The whole point of this scene in the film is that William knew he was coming back. He was still afraid of death. Psychopaths experience fear and other emotions except empathy. In the film, William is obviously afraid, just like in the games, and therefore tries to mock his victims. He had lost his only disguise. He's not a Springbonny anymore. He is a murderer in the eyes of children. In the Games, that's why he got into a suit - to impersonate Springbonny. Both Williams were afraid, both wanted to save themselves. And we don't actually know if game William knew that he will come back. Maybe he knew just like movie William🤷
