I'm 50 and as a kid I was empathetic to the story and how the snowman dies but I never was upset. Now years later I can't watch this without crying not because of the film but because of all the memories of what was going on at the time, my dad was still alive my brothers were still at home etc.. it has for some odd reason lodged itself in my mind of a time I can't get back. Bizzarre isn't it?

No, I don't think so - I think it is perfectly normal. For me, the book and the movie was THE big thing at Christmas when I was a boy. And it was all good. But now with a boy of my own, not only do I get the sense of nostalgia thinking back to my own innocent childhood, there is also the added impact of watching with someone who is the same age as when I first watched. Over time, this film becomes more powerful, rather than less in my view

I found this movie 5 yrs ago on a kids TV network and fell in love with it. It is something that isn't shown here in the states. Is this guy the same author as the snow man and the dog movie. I love that one too

Excellent video! This adds some serious depth to an already deep yet simple work of art. Thank you. I've always had an attachment with this film as far back as my earliest Christmas memories. I can't wait to pass it down to my soon to be daughter Myla as a Christmas tradition. In modern times we simply don't get grounded children's entertainment with true life lessons buried within them. Especially not here in the US.
