It was sad to discover that David and Allison's girls died shortly after birth. They seemed so ready to be the best parents possible to their girls. They'd done so much research into what might be best. It didn't seem as if the loss of both babies so shortly after birth was on their radar. I hope their marriage survived this and that they went on to have a child or children.

I'm only halfway through the episode, and I am so sad to read your comment. I was hoping for a miracle along with them. I noticed the sonogram was dated January 31, 2001 ... so they would have been 23 yo today. 😢 May 2024.

The title makes you think that their babies defied the odds and that they lived. So sad whenever they showed David (deep thinker) his wife almost had to snap him out of it a couple of times. I bet he was in so much deep thought about how they're going to look when they are born or if they're even going to make it WHEN this should be the happiest time of they're lives, excitement of having a baby!! I can't believe the babies died. I hope they are still married with children. Doesn't seem like her husband is the strong one out of them two.

Masha and Dasha, wow, what a story. May they rest in peace! 🦋 This is from Wikipedia: Death. Masha fell ill on 13 April 2003, complaining of back pain. She died of a heart attack the following day, seventeen hours after the onset of her symptoms. Dasha was taken to the First City Hospital and died seventeen hours later due to blood poisoning from the toxic byproducts of Masha's decomposing body.

The Lawlers seem like sweet, innocent people. I can understand being hopeful but they seemed naive in their confidence that it would all work out in the end. The situation is so deeply philosophical and spiritual. Love isn’t a rational thing and life is always unpredictable. I had a healthy child who died of cancer in young adulthood and it taught me that you just don’t know what will happen.
@demijour1234
@demijour1234 24 дня назад
@kathyestes6577 You know there have been cases where Doctors have been wrong. Where they say a baby will not live till so many days or years and they end up living way past the Doctors prediction and are still alive. I don't think it was being naive at all. It is not an easy decision to abort and if they did, they would have lived with regret thinking did they do the right thing. They were not sweet, innocent people. They were human beings like all of us and if you were put in that situation, would it be easy for you to just make a decision just like that? So, if a couple decided to abort then they are not sweet and innocent? They are smart and wise?

@@demijour1234 We had a child in my family who was not expected to live very long after birth. She lived 15 years so I agree that doctors can be wrong. I just thought the degree to which this couple was optimistic seemed naive. It felt almost like it was hopeful beyond was realistic. But that is just my reaction. Conjoined twins that share a heart never survive. The heart can't keep up with both conjoined twins. Its too hard and too much on the heart. No conjoined twins that shared a heart have ever survived. That's why the babies didn't survive. Other conjoined twins survive because they have separate hearts and other organs helping the organs to keep up with both twins. The hearts are able to pump enough to keep both twins alive.

They should determine whether or not separation is possible early in the pregnancy. If it's not, the humane thing is to abort. Nobody should have to live chained to another person. Also if one of an unseparateable set doesn't want to live, they shouldn't have to. The surgery should be done and the other twin saved.
