These preppers and survivalists in Singapore are ready for any ‘Shit Hits The Fan’ (SHTF) crisis. Emergencies they’ve prepped for: blackouts, fires, or even the next world war.
When panic-buying swept through cities around the world amid the #COVID-19 pandemic, they were well-stocked with food and emergency supplies.
While more extreme preppers dream of building their own bunkers and have bug-out bags and body bags ready if a disaster strikes, other preppers focus on survival skills such as parkour (to run away from danger) and being able to start fires in the wild.
Many preppers also carry around first aid kits for more common emergency situations.

Whether you are a prepper or not, I recommend everyone to learn basic first aid, fire prevention and some form of self-defense. These skills will be helpful not only at home but also when moving about/travelling.

My grandma taught me to always stock up on supplies for everyday use. When corona virus pandemic hit, I didn’t visit a shop for 2 months. My pantry was full from nanas wisdom of living thru wars, recessions, depression etc❤️ be prepared! I joined Army Reserves to learn survival and pass these skills onto my children.

Prepping is like having insurance. You pay for insurance in hopes you won't ever need it. Same with prepping. Prepping items mostly do not expire, go bad or become obsolete meaning it's a one time investment for a lifetime of insurance.

Just a short PSA from a Home Team member. I am a disaster relief specialist. Most of our threats (manmade) will be in the form of Biological/Chemical attacks. This is the current trend for modern warfare as attacks from these agents can liquidate the population while leaving valuable infrastructure intact for new takeover. Some light prepping is OK, but it is more important to prepare a bug-out backpack, keep yourself fit and be aware of where your nearest underground shelters. As RU-vid is a global platform, I will not reveal where these shelters are. Singaporeans just need to hit up the SCDF for a list, and maybe to attend an Emergency Prep course for more details. Stay safe and ready, my fellow citizens!

@Shadow Darkness from the general hotline, you will be redirected to the division managing your area. might need to verify your information after that. if they get a bit lost, just ask for Public Affairs branch of the particular division, this branch handles the community outreach programs. they will have to counter check the database, there might be more than one location nearest to you. so they might have to call you back, but you should be able to find out nearest shelter(s) location this way. you can also ask about any ongoing courses that is open for the public to attend.

I'm from the Philippines and I've been thinking the same thing once I got my own career. I've been thinking of stocking canned goods and replacing it just before it reaches the expiration dates. And since my country is prone to strong typhoons and earthquakes which may lead to tsunamis, I'm thinking of the best strategy which can be used to save us from any unexpected disasters. But the problem always is money. Not everyone has the same privelege to quickly have these things.

First In First Out - always eat your oldest food and save your new purchases for later. That way none of the food goes to waste, and if you stock up when there is a good deal you will actually save money in the long run.

The household fire safety is a big one that's overlooked. Take my house - only one central staircase which can become inaccessible in a for with no other way out. Even storing an extinguisher in an area that can be cut off (like leaving it under the sink, which a grease fire will make impossible to reach), are easily overlooked things.

This is a desirable trait but probably cost a lot of money. I do have such a mindset e.g making sure I controlled my intake of water from my two water bottles in NS and making sure I got working torchlight with fresh battery and spares and pens. But what if someone never controls his drinking and yet expects you to spare your water? Then the mortar men who set the artillery didn't ensure to have a working torchlight and pen and I ended up have to pass him mine? In schools, there will be students who frequently need to take your papers and stationeries? Such dilemmas are quite frustrating. So I understand the video's idea of maintaining a low profile.

You all can learn wildlife survival skills. Beside having artificial things with you, you can start a fire with wood or stone. Like being a boy scout or girl guide. Then you know where to get water that can be drinkable. You know how to make a shelter from leaves and branches and find wild fibre to turn it into a rope. You can sharpen a branch and turn it into a weapon to kill animals for food and to gather wild eatable plants . You can sharpen stone to write or carve on another piece of stone. These sort of things for today's people are laughable. But come to think of it, it is a survival skill. When the world ends, nobody will produce anything from their factories anymore.

What? I dont thikk anyone prepares for a tsunami, theyre quite rare you know. Besides, a tsunami only affects the coastline, unless you live close to the ocean, theres literally no reason to prepare for it.

Anything GPS or internet based, or anything electrical/technology dependent, is not good to rely on. At least for more than and immediate, short term solution. Especially if it is an EMP or other attack on the electrical grid.

Singapore is one of the last countries on earth that people want to be in when WW 3 starts as the country has almost no natural resources to sustain its population and no land to grow food and raise farm animals. Most of the food and fresh water that the country consumes are imported. Yes, the country has a desalination plant to convert sea water into fresh water but what if the oil and natural gas supplies from other countries to power the plant were cutoff? Yeah, indoor vertical farming is a thing in SG but it provides very limited amount of food supply to be able to feed its population and those farms also need water and electricity (generated from gas) which are imported.

It's called an edc. And edc can vary depending on individual needs n priority. My edc is more urban and "altoids tin" type. Plastic bag, earphone, nail clipper, foldable scissors,smthg to write with, back up sim card with data, sim card tool, usb and plaster.

@@SuccessforLifester Np. Just sharing smthg else... some time ago i was experimenting fire options. so heng i bought those fuel cans for heating buffet tray. Cos one day my gas cylinder went dry and i couldn't connect the gas operator after multiple calls. Decided to use the fuel can to cook my dinner n it worked! If i have money, I'd like to make a long term prep plan...or at least a functional BOB to get to msia or pulau ubin.

You really can't prepare for all kinds of situations, a sensible risk analysis is more important. The money would be better invested to achieve financial security to cushion against more probable threats such as the loss of income and critical illness.

If it is a pandemic like now with the covid-19, money is still very important. But if it is something that actually cause the end of the world, then you cannot worry about the money you have. You have to worry about survival, food, clothing, shelter, your family's condition and others. Things that are not that important now will take precedence over your money.

Those in Combat Vocation will get to learn self defence during NS. During my time it was called Unarmed Combat. Got four colour modules. Being tortured with bouncing leg splits was a thing then.

I think of all the dried foods in the supermarket and how our forefathers survived... Isn't that a more cost efficient way to stock a pantry? It'll keep for years if need be: Rice, beans, bee Hoon, kiam hur, ikan bilis, to name a few...... Cheap too.

Expired food is still edible for a long time. Just doesn't taste great but you will survive in an emergency

@@DALLEY_SANI 3 months supplies you don't eat same thing everyday so FIFO recycle 2nd months onwards but you must realise Singapore is hot & humid & we don't have inverter aircon 24/7 so plan food that need cooler temperature to last longer & 1 fridge is not enough perhaps freezer box or box fridge is useful. Do a lot of research & how other ppl are doing it so every space is use & keep inventory list with expiry date so when you need to do grocery shopping do think of what you have.

You need to maintain your stockpile. And you need to be able to plant crops, rear poultry and anything that becomes food later on. If the end of the world happens suddenly and fast, then you don't need to think of those anymore. But if the end of the world comes after a period of time, then you have to make sure your calculation of the stockpile is enough. And if during that period when the world is ending and somehow you create something that can make you survive for years and years and years, then your planning will have to include those.

Wrong. Most likely prepping items will outlast humans. Some foods last forever and some last 10, 20, 30 years+ while others last weeks. Preppers know the difference. Most prepping items are made of cloth, plastic and metal which aren't perishable. Knowledge of skills is a prepping. Having multiple contingency plans is prepping. Redundancy (Rule 2=1 and 1=none) is prepping. Prepping is like having an insurance policy that you hope you'll never need and 90% of prepping cost is non perishable.......

Unlike other preppers these guys seem to genuinely want to help out in a crisis and a couple of them have already attended major disasters. Even knowing good first aid is an asset. They are not just sitting on a pile of guns and bullets shouting about Jesus!

Singapore are so Small. If Invasion happen, its easy to do in a full force attack.. Bug-out in a small bushy park? ahaha are you serious? If I Lived in Singapore, boat is one of the most essential thing, because its really hard to hide in a small island. Or build a Bunker with a bunch of food (Horticulture).. We are so lucky here in Philippines, we are allowed to own a gun, And we have a lot of bug-out location..

If it is the real end of the world, your money and anything deemed valuable will not have any value. Instead, the basic will be the most valuable. Food, shelter, clothing. Some one has already thought of a piece of land set aside to grow crops during the last days of the end of the world if it doesn't end suddenly.

Actually it is more important for a small country like Singapore due to the lack of natural resources. Cannot do farming and few animals to hunt. Cannot start a fire in the backyard for cooking.

As much as I would ridicule them too, it is great that they are helping others when they require assistance (as evident from the guy who brings first aid tools out), and they are encouraging people to be more self-aware and get prepared. Look at the people who panicked-buy the whole supermarket over dorscon orange. I bet you were one of the few who rushed for toilet paper. Kiasi? These preppers were the ones laughing at them. It is never unwise to prepare for worst case scenarios. In fact, its the contrary.
