Absolutely love Hera analyzing pro games and it is defenitely insightful. Shows the genuine interest you have for the game. Looking forward to more such videos.
Really liked this analysis, would love to see more of these! Your explanations to every crucial moment made it really understandable and easy to follow
Love this style of video. Having a pro analyse a game like this makes it twice as interesting as just watching the game itself sometimes. Just to mix in some videos like this is great!
I think one of the reason viper won this game is due to the new organ gun multiple projectile mechanism. When both players are building castle face to face, 2-3 organ gun can easily stop multiple vills from building the castle. Also, they kill many vills simultaneously due to the same reason. You can clearly see difference in Yo's vill count after 2-3 hits.
I like the fact that this last year Hera has always won against the Viper but he's still a big fan with huge admiration for the Snake. Love it, that's very nice attitude and respect ❤️
I guess Hera is the slightly better player nowadays in terms of tournament results. But I think Viper is a bit more creative / less predictable, so win or lose, I will always love watching his games for the pure entertainment factor.
Really enjoy the game reviews bro. Very straightforward and informational. I enjoy watching T90 cast but honestly learn more and help improve my game from watching you breakdown a pro match.
this is outrageously good love this kind of content, keep crushing it Hera! Appreciate you! tbh I'd prefer a spoiler free title just for the suspense but I'm watching this content either way
New guy here, I'd love to see videos like this, because, as a new player, you can easily learn mechanics, build orders, etc. But is so hard to learn the strategy behind the game, because we are lack of content like this. And you, Hera, are the perfect guy for doing them.
Wow, just wow! That was awesome and also truly awesome of you to recognize this brilliant execution for what it is. 14:12 xD never thought I hear you say that
Hi Hera, this is one of your best videos I have ever seen from you! I do like your good reviews... I think (do you agree) the biggest mistake of Yo was all the time/resources spent on the tower rush, could you say he wasted his advantage?
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 another thing I noticed is those villagers sent forward were retreated. I would have like see something more creative. Or at least send them to chop wood at the south of the map. We them retreat completely right castle is confirmed and we see them at 9:54. I guess we considered the tower rush failed when vipers castle went up. But Yo completely blew it with a failed tower rush. Sorry that’s my take. I think patience would have been played a better factor
no tower rush did quite the job, it just delayed viper's attack, but yo should know it was still coming and should have castle before or at least not a deniable castle like the one he did@@salvadorseekatzrisquez2947
for me, when cumans 2 tc against castle drop, which happen a lot in arena, the aim is drop a castle as u reach castle age and then go imp and treb the other one. The scout would just delayed himself, and he could not do domage to the other one eco cause of the castle defense
Just going say I think these videos are great. Don't need to be often but when it's a game that highlights something like this, the steps involved. It's educational and shows that even some strong strategies like Cumans 2 TC boom have weaknesses.
We need more of these videos! Love a pro analyzing other pros, keep it up! You analyzing mid-tier players would also be amazing, so we all learn from common mistakes too!
Yo had this in the bag. The castle applied pressure but didn't deny any important resources. A better strategic response would've been to double down on booming or something else but contest the castle with a castle.
One thing I noticed is that Mr. Yo didn't pull ahead in res collected until early castle from Viper. The Worker Efficiency in feudal was also heavily in Viper's favour. Yo did collect 2.6k more res at GG but had 1.6k in the bank when he resigned. I think Viper just played with his eco at the absolute limit and combined with the timing of the forward vils and monks behind the organs made this look so perfect
Great analysis. Even greater is that you're doing this for a game you didn't play. Hera, you're not only the best player in the world now (that's no more a discussion); but also one of the bests if not the best content creator/narrator/teacher for the game; a great advocate for age of empires. The community is very lucky to have you. Cheers!
I feel like Yo should have amassed more Steppe Lancers that he had when that forward castle was started. He could have counter pressured those organ guns with cav while the mangonels pressure the villagers. Also that tiny mistake of placing the tower not also encompassing theVipers woodline ended up being huge. If he denied both stone and wood with one tower he could have had extra ressources for more pressure. It is amazing how good of a game Aoe2 is that such tiny things end up mattering so much. It is like chess in a lot of ways.
Could you do an aoe2 game with GM Eric Hansen, with collaborative analysis taking his questions about tactics? There could be many offshoots, such as a team game. Each chessbrah plays with a pro.
It really seemed like Yo could have won if he had just kept his stables producing. Classic Yo low APM, not spending resources into a loss. After the second round of lancers at 19:19 game time until game end 90 sec later, stables are idle. At least one scout while going up to Castle would also have helped: another unit for the fight, as well as just a unit for the purpose of doing what its name says it should: scouting. The better way to beat Cumans is almost certainly to pressure them early and constantly. Just like how the Tatoh rush can win, where you build two (or was it three) archery ranges and cease villager production: a normal Feudal play is a Tatoh rush but with more economy instead of military, and early Cuman boom is to normal Feudal as normal Feudal is to Tatoh rush. So you try to steal their berries (of course), and then keep their base open so even though they have a second TC going up, you have towers or archers to pressure them from all directions, and they can't get stone for a tower or afford to build a market to buy stone, while you just shoot at any farms they make so they can't be used. Then they have 375 resources + build time used for the second TC that's idle due not having food for two TCs, and you can win. Typical outcomes against Cumans are due to letting them use those resources, while the Cuman's opponent has "idle" resources banked up during a long Dark age or invested into going to Castle.
I play Cumans a lot. I believe this was a winnable position for Yo. His problem is lack of production. Look at the game end. 700 food 250 gold 500 wood and a castle going up. And he has a siege workshop. He's still playing as if he's any other civ but just with more resources. That doesn't work. Best play, in my humble opinion, build 4 stables at the BACK of the base. Production is everything for cumans in castle age. You are behind in millitary and ahead in resources. That's the whole point. The only way to make that work is to convert those extra resources into millitary FAST as soon as you hit castle. Production is everything. Having the third stable delayed and all 3 stables under pressure is gg. Don't take the stone. Have a few more farms and a bit more gold. Defending with 12 steppe lancers and constant refresh beats defending with 4 steppe lancers and 2 mangonel and an attempt at a castle. The point is to overwhelm with numbers. Monks can't do that much against >10 steppe lancers. And steppe lancers can easily deny a castle. If they don't, you add the siege workshop and bash it down with castle age capped ram. Everything was going fine until castle age for Yo. Should have just made steppe lancers. Lots of them.
Hera being so freaking good at this game that he can openly say "oh yeah, Cumans are definitely my cryptonite" and still he wins almost every tournament he plays in... ouch xD
Nice analysis butat the end it's more like a throw by yo , castle at home preventing the push as soon as he hit castle and then go imp asap to treb and all was good
He didnt have the res for castle at home until then, and by the time he placed it Viper was already at his front door with his own castle and 10 Organ Guns and a handful of monks. Viper doesnt let off pressure at that point, Yo loses his 2 TC's from that position while Viper has all the map behind it to develop.
@@xXTheKingEmothXx The position of the castle was off, I am not an experienced player but it seems to me that he should have deleted the south west field and placed the castle there instead, safe from the organ fire
Feels like yo threw with the castle though, I think he still has a chance if he goes with a more defensive position and then mango defense, ram or fast imp with a vil lead still?
Another thing to have in mind is that 20 vills lead is 1000 less resources and the score showed Yo had collected 2000 more resources so in reality its only about 1000 resources more
You'll notice that Yo could've easily gotten the castle up if Viper allowed his Organ guns attacks to be drawn to the cavalry, but he instead focus-fired the villagers and prevented the castle.
Hera, my noob 1400 mind is wondering if you think Yo could have followed up his fast 2tc mini-boom into something crazy like 3 stable full feudal scouts instead of going castle age? Or are the organs simply too strong and would wreck the scouts even in big numbers?
I’ve got a feeling this game is missing some building to limit gunpowder units a bit to not let them appear too soon during the match. 😅 Sth like gunpowder store? It just feels strange hc, bombards and gunpowder uu are trainable right after chemistry (except uu). I like the way StarCraft handles it. Player is forced to own specific building to be able to train certain unit and I mean building that does not allow to train this unit but unlocks it.
He did destroyed Yo, but Yo could have survive if he invested in more army in Feudal (Archers + light cavs) instead of go to castle that early. Also, if he built the castle inside his base instead of outside, he also would be ok. Also, Yo's Idle TC time, a lot of floating recourses in his bank, etc. not sure if you agree. Loved the video you though, thank you
He needed to idle his TC to get to castle age as quickly as he did. And he had to because feudal military has no chance of stopping organ guns. If anything he needed to idle his TCs sooner, I think.
@@teddyhaines6613 yeah I understand, but sending five vils for your rush, then sending back home that also ALOT of idle time… he can at least send them to the gold in the middle with two towers. And I believe light cab can counter both organs and monks if I am not mistaken.
