Life Refocused is a memoir I have been working on for the past year.

And here's a quick synopsis
"New Year's Eve, 2020 was supposed to be a turning point to better days. Instead, Katie, a 29-year-old newlywed, found herself in the ER processing the earth-shattering news of a stage IV cancer diagnosis. One that'd come after years of being assured she was "too young for cancer". Over the next two years, this shy, timid, and frightened young woman would be forced to face her own mortality and learn to advocate for herself. The ultra rare cancer they'd find in her kidney and 15+ tumors in her liver, would render her inoperable and without much hope. But with the help of social media and a few serendipitous events, she'd find herself at the top institutions pleading her case for a radical and high-risk surgery that would change her life forever. A journey that would highlight the best and worst in healthcare and uncover the silver linings and beauty of humanity filling the space in between."
I will be donating all of my portions of the proceeds from this book to research and am excited to get it out in the world.
Thank you for the support.

Wow, Katie; your first chapter is riveting. Completely relatable also. My children have a chronic condition so i have been through the googling, fear, doctors "diagnosing" anxiety, etc. You have perfectly depicted all of that. I am looking forward to the next chapters. Stay well

Your story reminds me so much of my own, even your height and weight are the same as mine, You're writing is great. It's like you have written books before, I'm very sure it's hasto be great meditation. I don't think my words would sound so unique if I wrote them down as I'm just a country girl from Oklahoma, You're in my prayers

Excellent .Having just found my mass I can feel your anxiety as well as mine. Hopefully I’ll no more tomorrow. Thank you for doing this. I’ve been all over RU-vid and your videos are the only ones that bring me any comfort. Thank you.

Thank you so much for listening and for this comment, it means the world to me. That's what I was looking for when I was first diagnosed and knowing I could have helped bring even and ounce of that to someone else, really means the world to me. Thank you for sharing. Oh my god. I cannot express how deeply I relate to every aspect. I went 14 years being told I had anxiety, an eating disorder, somatic symptoms, etc. being blown off by every doctor I met. The trauma that caused me has left me unable to trust any doctor or medical staff. I was finally believed and diagnosed with ehlers danlos syndrome, hyperadronergic POTS, AFIB, SVT, myasthenia gravis, intestinal paralysis, and tethered cord syndrome. I’m 18 and wheelchair dependent. I clinically died twice at 14 because my heart issues and MG caused respiratory failure and my heart to stop. My heart rate goes above 200 bpm when I stand, blood pressure to 150/110. I dislocate joints daily. I lost 60lbs in two months when I was 14, and the doctor tried to get me involuntarily committed to an eating disorder ward. The way the medical system treats invisible and chronic illnesses is traumatizing. Medical PTSD is extremely prominent among those of us with chronic illnesses and invisible illnesses. The “if you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras” saying has caused so many people to forget that zebras do exist, and then us zebras get treated like we’re just painting on our stripes. I cannot wait to read/hear more from this story. You’re an amazing writer and your story is so important to share. Thank you for being honest and open about the anxiety that you had when going to the ER.

Great writing. It really puts the reader in your shoes. Worth listening to even after watching your previous videos on the diagnosis and surgery process.

Very touching. You are a very good writer. Pulled this audience member right in. Felt like I was there, too, experiencing the unknowing with you, then also the feelings of being dismissed by medical staff. Sending hugs!! I am anxiously awaiting the rest of the book. When and where can I purchase the book? Thank you for bringing the human side to health care that hardly gets shared outside of our inner social circles.

It was your face on RU-vid that I saw right after my own diagnosis. You brought hope, and information. 🌞🌳 Thank you.

Hi Katie! Love it! Can't wait to read the book! It brought back a lot of memories, I was lucky in that I didn't have to go through all that time of not being listened to. I am so proud of you and all you have accomplished ❤️

Awesome ! Look forward to reading the rest! I’m just 4 days before my surgery. I have cancer in my right kidney . Had a biopsy 2 weeks ago and an ablation ! Was diagnosed with renal carcinoma cancer. Like you since my biopsy a hard round place has appeared on my right side. That can only be felt when I’m standing. It hasn’t showed up in the scans. So I’ve been told it’s nothing. And I. The meantime I have been doing lots of utub and google.
