Trees up in the mountains spend so much time totally under snow when they are young, they barely grow year to year till they finally get tall enough to stay out of the snowpack

Hey guys, we had an 046 Arctic back when the 046 was a new saw (we’re further North in Alaska and have cut at -50*F). We noticed a draw on power when you activated the hand warmers.. Enough to where we didn’t want to use it because the saw was kind of gutless.. Did they fix that on the new saws, or is there still a drain.
@WildAcresFarms
@WildAcresFarms Год назад
Remember these guys run ported saws that make 25-35% more power than stock, so it might not be a question they can accurately answer.
@Brandon.Fischer
@Brandon.Fischer Год назад
@@WildAcresFarms, I would assume the draw is the same.. So if its a 10% draw on a stock saw, it’d also be 10% less on the ported saw. Still lots of power, but a draw is a draw..
@FishFind3000
@FishFind3000 Год назад
Well you’re running an electrical load so it has to put a load on the engine. It’s just like it would be in a car. So you will most likely have some performance drop but maybe not as bad since the saws make more power today.
@Brandon.Fischer
@Brandon.Fischer Год назад
@@FishFind3000 it was very noteworthy back then. I know it has to draw power, but the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze on that one.

25:00 Here's a small tip I learned. On the bar oil jug I only put a small hole in the silver seal with a screwdriver on the opposite side of the handle. This way the oil comes out in a narrow stream so I don't spill it. If the seal is completely removed it makes a wide stream and makes a mess.

You living the life my boy. I've always wanted to go to Alaska and to go there to fell some trees, I love it. I'm in Georgia and Florida helping with this hurricane. So many people have been taken advantage of from tree people. I'm here to make money don't get me wrong but I have helped people who didn't have the money to pay to get the work done. I took a huge pecan tree off an elderly woman's home. A tree service told her $10,000 for the tree. I offered to take it off for free. They ended up scrounging some money together and gave me like $115 but I was doing it to help more than anything

Good show, worked as a cutter in 1979 and 1980 out of a camp north of Ketchikan. Ran 045 and 2100 Husky’s with 42” and 48” bars; square cut, skip tooth chains. I was in my mid 30’s at the time; worked Wa. and Or. also. It was a good time in my life and loved working in the woods. Stick with it young man and the memories will be there when you’re older; be safe in the big timber.

Where I come from, you definitely don't want to show up on jobsite with all new gear, because you don't want everyone thinking that you're a rookie, green hand, or something worse. Can't think of what that'd be, but typically you do a little camouflage work on your rig. Scuff it up, smear some used oil on it, and rub it in, anything to cover up the new, and soften things up to more pliable condition. Which makes it easier to use, at least covers up the green hand aspect somewhat. Either way makes first weeks of use easier on the usability side, even somewhat puts everyone at ease as far as trusting you, and lowers the amount of jaw jacking you'll receive from the crew. You know Gordy is actually trying to point you in the right direction, but not be obvious about it, because he's your friend, and sees the simple mistakes that you tend to make. That's just observation from outside looking in, but take it how you choose. Not meant to be taken as disrespect, but to enlighten you on the world of things outside your realm of knowledge. Peace n Harmony
