It’s a good thing the conductor was on your side. The conductor was asking the rude person to stop talking. I am pretty sure that rude guy is a narcissist.

The Old man was not rude I think.Normally no one gets into a bus without knowing where to go,and if people get in a wrong bus,they just are allowed to get out without buying a ticket.Also if you are exploring randomly,get a ticket for the last stop.

Bro, of course they are gonna get angry if you answer dont know when the conductor asks where you wanna go. At least you should have asked them for suggestions where to go politely instead. Saying dont know just seemed rude.

Of course old man was very rude. I think you handled that situation very calm. If someone was definitely that old man was got kicked on face. Government has changed lot now days, previous its was there like if you pay Rs. 30/- you can travel any bus (one day pass) in Chennai for old day. It happens in Tamil Nadu especially in chennai like big city. Might be reason people are moving to European and North America Counties. All the best. Hope Govt will get updated soon.

Sir whenever u travel in bus try to buy a day pass so if u get in a wrong bus u can stop the bus and get down and this pass is valid for one day u can get in any bus So buy metro pass it will be good

There is one day 'travel as you please pass' apart from the regular bus fare ticket where you can travel anywhere within the city taking any number of buses for the day as you please (but not the air conditioned deluxe or private bus scheduled on particular routes). You can get this from the bus conductor or nearby big bus terminus. You can just flash that ticket to the conductor or ticket inspector and stay mum. You do not need to pay anything for a ticket for the entire day.

Pickles (most commonly made out of lemons and mangoes - sour tasting) are served with rice meals and is supposed to be taken little, preferably licked while you have yogurt rice. I saw you gulping the whole piece and it must have been way too sour and salty. 2. They serve chapati (flat bread) along with rice and it is supposed to be eaten with a creamy veggie (1 out of those 7) 3. Rest all were different curries to be mixed with rice and are not supposed to be mixed together. You can still do so if you like the taste (only at home) 4. Papad (the crispy cracker) is just to give the crisp while eating rice and payasam(porridge) 5. After finishing a heavy rice meal, usually they serve sweet paan (you said it right. It is betel leaf) with sweet rose petals and no they don't add betel nut in it and you can chew and swallow the whole thing. It aids in digestion 6. Chai/chaya is the hindi/malayalam equivalent for TEA 7. In tamilnadu, people don't have latte, cappuccino, macchiato, flat white etc. You get filter coffee with sugar and milk. You can ask for strong or light so that the amount of coffee varies. Likewise for sugar and milk. If you ask coffee, it is just filter coffee or plain coffee in most regions of India unless you visit a high end coffee retail shop.

Sweet beeda is also called Sweet Paan. Any Sweet paan you can chew and eat the hole beeda/paan. Only with Tobacco you need to chew and spit it out.

It's absolutely a communication gap when a man enters a bus with a camera, and obviously, it irritates a few people. Not everyone is the same; people really don't like such actions. I believe he was not rude, but he might have thought you were a stranger, responding in a way that put him in an awkward situation. Even your response was not polite when you said, "I want to show your country how beautiful it is." Whatever country you are from, you should respect the people and their different cultures.

But I'll tell you what I think might've triggered that behaviour in that conversation: He asked you: Where do you wanna go You replied: I don't know (This might've sounded lil bit rude to that person) I would strongly suggest you to stop hopping in a random bus and going to a random place like this... Instead you have google maps that has every nook and corner of the country in it.. So just do a bit of research, find a good place to visit and get a good transport to that place.... Again bus is THE cheapest means of transportation in India. So it is mostly used by low quality people(mostly if not always) with low standards of living, with no proper behaviour and so on.... So this kind of behaviour is expected.... Again I'm really sorry for this behaviour of that person..
