University level lesson/teaching that I'll never forget. Yet down to earth, well explained and examples given, in less than 13 minutes. REALLY good video. Thank you Sorin!!

I like the direct explanation, I remember sitting in a class many years ago listening to a lecturer droning on 1.5 hours on this subject, we all left wondering what he was trying to say. my boss explained it like this direct as Sorin has, perfect

I don't understand how the gate opened when you touched it with tweezers? What was the gate detecting when you did that?
@rayofcreation3996

utopiaopera the gate was detecting an intruder. 😀 Just kidding. Even I'm curious. 👍

Ray of Creation I believe the gate was sensing a slight resistance either thru your body or a direct touch with the tweezers.

if you switch, will be short because of the diode

last silly question. If we switch the polarity and use PNP instead of NPN. The diode is in opposite direction.

Hi Sorin or should I say Master Sorin? Thank for posting all these videos. I am one of your subscribers and really enjoy the content of your videos. It may seem a bit of a silly question, but in your opinion, is it worth learning how to repair computers and laptops? A friend of mine thinks it’s not worth it nowadays, because there are a lot of people doing it, including young teenagers and people want it done for next to nothing. I love learning new skills of all kinds. I am at the moment learning how to repair car ECUs and thought that if could also learn to repair other electronic devices, such as computers and maybe mobile phones, it could be useful and profitable. I live in the UK. What is your opinion on this? Many thanks. Kind regards, Joe.
@electronicsrepairschool
@electronicsrepairschool 4 года назад
Ha, ha, ... if you are living in uk, yeah, learn. You know how is with what you said 'because there are a lot of people doing it, including young teenagers and people want it done for next to nothing.' ? Well, is the same as with the phones repair.... 99.9% of the shops are repairing phones but only replacing parts like screen, battery etc. Same with the laptops. The shop owner are looking for to hire someone doing repairs based on electronics knowledge from over 7 years and he could't find anyone. I'm the only one doing this. So, it is worth learning? I will say yes
@JoeNunes345
@JoeNunes345 4 года назад
Thank you for your reply. I originally trained as a car mechanic, but left the trade in the middle nineties. I came back to the trade a few years ago and have been relearning all the new skills that go with diagnosing the electronic faults by proper methods, not just replacing parts to see if it works. I love all sorts of knowledge and love learning new things every day. You’re right, they’re a lot of people out there replacing parts and they actually believe they’re techs. I’m going to make sure I learn all I can about electronics, not only because it will be useful, but also because I love it. Thank you for your advice and please continue posting your great informative videos. Thank you very much. Kind regards, Joe.

@@electronicsrepairschool I believe they go for more paid jobs, no? You could land an EE job somewhere too. Knowledge is almost always valuable but not necessarily for the job we think. Hard to find a doctor to do the job of a nurse at a nurse's salary. That's the trick.

Is it acceptable to have "a short" signal through the secondary Mosfet's beside "the coil", even when the gate is drained or grounded to close the gate? Are some Mosfet's designed to sound as a short between the two sides of a Mosfet that is not the gate?

ive bought a dell xps 17 inch worth 300 for 40 quid. it has a short when charger ia plugged in. ive stripped it down and immediately next to thr power rail from the dc socket there are 2 mosfets. one mosfet gas readings on each side. the other just reads 1 on every pin. does this mean it is the cause of the short?
@minkorrh
@minkorrh 3 года назад
I think the confusing thing about mosfets is only three connections, G,D,S but multiple pins. In practice, could you simply connect to only one of each pin so Gate, Drain, and Source all have only one connection? Why the multiple pins? Never mind....the video answered my question. :)
@alexisfrjp
@alexisfrjp 2 года назад
yes you could but for example the drain is connected to 4pins to decrease the resistivity that might be a problem for high current (30A in his example, that's a lot to have in a single pin). Same reason why you use 3.5mm for oven instead of 1.5mm for lights in your house. Some mosfets are very small because they are used as signal switches, not power switches (eg. for power rails in motherboard).
