How Thieves Target Woman’s Purses When They’re Shopping 

I had an older lady come up to me at the supermarket and say “honey, do me a favor and put the child’s seatbelt through the straps on your purse and lock it. It makes it a little harder for someone to take it” Best advice I ever got from a stranger in a supermarket

I wear mine across my body. You would have to drag me in order to steal mine.

My mom said to watch her purse when she has her back turn.

You CANNOT trust people at all Always be on guard

Working as a cashier , I don't know how many times I warned female customers about this . This is why hardly ever use a purse, and have a wallet onna chain .

I never put my purse in shopping carts. I keep it on me at all times..

My brother was shopping at Walmart recently and was on a busy aisle and a woman just walked over calmly and grabbed another woman's purse out of her cart. Luckily, her husband saw it and grabbed it back out of her hands. I'm very careful now when out in stores with my purse.

I ALWAYS see this in the grocery store, I sometimes feel awkward walking by someone's cart with their purse just sitting there out in the open, meanwhile the person is turned around just comepletely oblivious to anyone else around them

Ladies... Ladies. Use the seatbelt on the shopping cart to strap your purses to the cart .. it's a rude awakening for thieves.... 😋

My Mom was the “purse police”. She kept her eye out for others & pointed out that they left their purse unattended & how easily it may not be there next time. My Mom recently passed & I’m picking up her slack. If, for some odd reason, you can’t hold your purse, at least use the provided child safety belt & hooked it thru your purse handles. This way, it’s more likely a thief with get their arm jerked outta the socket as they attempt a fast getaway. And watch for the “too nice”. Be kind but, DON’T feel ashamed to hold onto your property. Stay safe & aware of your surroundings.

This is why my mum always has her bag in her hand, never have i ever seen my mum put her bag in the cart

I turned my back for a few seconds and had my wallet stolen from INSIDE my purse, went to pay and it was gone!! Security checked the cameras and we saw how the whole thing went down, I was shocked to see it was an older woman (probably in her 50’s) that stole my wallet!! Needless to say, I now use a backpack purse with a tie closure. TIP: you can also use the child restraint belt in the shopping cart to loop thru your purse straps and buckle your purse down, so if someone tries to snatch the purse , they can’t get away with it!!

My mom keeps explosives in her purse. So whoever steals it goes boom. :3

Never turn your back leaving your purse unattended, always keep the shopping cart in front of you. i always keep mine in front me plus i tied it with the child belt for kids in the shopping cart, i also carry my pepper spray just in case.

I can't imagine having all my personal stuff stolen. Besides the cash, the hassle of getting a new ID, cancelling and renewing credit cards, possibly your social security card as well. And all other little sentimental thing people keep in their wallet or purse. Man that would be a nightmare....

My nanny taught me to put the seat belt for babies and loop your purse holes through it so if they try to snatch it you’ll hear them struggling to get it off the seat belt. 👌

I don't understand why people put their purse or handbag into the cart/basket in the first place. For me, if I don't have my bag with me(carrying it on my shoulder) when I'm at a mart, I would feel as if I was naked.

I'm a woman, but I never carry a purse, so... All I have is a tiny, card-sized bag on my keys. Keep it all in my pocket at all times.

My mom used to make me or one of my siblings guard her purse while she got the stuff.

Keep a record of your credit card numbers, expiration dates, code, NBR for customer service, same with drivers license in case your purse is stolen. This way you'll have all the information you need to put a stop on your cards. I always put my car key in my bra, so if they take my purse, I still have a ride home:)

Now I finally understand why my mom always tells to avoid shoving my school backpack in the shopping cart. It's honestly absurd how other women can just steal another woman's purse with no guilt. No shame. Disgusting. Sisterhood goes right out the window in these situations

When you first arrive at your store place a small item in your bag and then when the theifs leave they’ll be caught as they walk out the store

My mom walks up to people in the store not watching their purse to warn them that they should be more careful or else someone could snatch it. She is such an angel. I call her the pocketbook she-ro!

My wallet and special information is always home or in my pocket. My purse only contains change,feminine hygiene, and personal items. So unless you want a hand full of tampons and a note that says “haha im broke!” keep it moving.

Yea my mom tells me to stay by her purse like if we in grocery store and she and the basket can’t fit where she wantS to go she will tell me to say by my purse and my mother have a long handle and some short ones so I wrap my hand around the long one so if someone tries to get the purse they will pull my hand with it

Yup...I accidentally walked away from my cart while my purse (designer) was in it. I was amazed and thanked God that no one took it! It can happen so quickly...bc of doing that I try not to take a purse into the store now.

That's so sad. That's someone's mom, grandmother. Would break my heart if someone did that to my family. But thank the lord there's a place where these horrible people go when they die..

One time I saw someone take a womans person and I ran after them and actually grabbed it back, tore it by yanking it from them but lady was really happy. She offered cash to thank me. I said no thanks just doing the right thing.

My grandmother knows about this she always klips it on the seat belt. Last time she was walking around H.E.B and telling ladys about this. What a sweet woman☺

and this is the biggest reason I wear a pouch/fanny pack also, the last time I wore a purse I had a bad/forgetful experience lol. Was going to garage sales in the summer with my parents and I happened to forget my purse was ON me when I closed the door- as I was reaching in to grab the purse. The door bounced off my wrist (and I'd shut it fairly hard to bounce off the way it did) and we had to stop off at a medicentre to get my wrist checked out. Thankfully not even a hairline fracture was on it, but it's easier for my forgetful mind to have a much on my waist at all times than run the risk of that incident happening again with a purse, or even this type of incident given how forgetful I am. My mom used the seatbelt where you'd strap a kid in to hold her purse more securely in the cart when she steps away- unless I'm watching it.

Just wear a backpack. It holds everything.

Put your purse strap in the part for babies and then clip in with the clasp so if someone tries to steal it they couldn't get it undone without you noticing it.

Most shopping carts have a little seat belt for kids......use it to clip your purse strap in. When they grab it, it won't go anywhere and they'll be out of luck lol

I’ve pointed this out to many woman at the store when I see them park their carts and walk a little bit away from them and not paying attention. And almost every time I am met with a rude remark like “well you must be a thief then” or they just give me a dirty look. So now I just mind my business and if they get ripped off then it’s on them. A tip, keep a large carabiner clip on your purses and when you have your cart or basket hook it to the handle. It makes it harder for the thief and gives you time to realize what is happening if it does.

This is why I only use purses that can go around my neck. I keep it on me the whole time and can be hands free.

What you should do is put the little seat belt thing, that's there for little kids, and put it through the handle and buckle it so no one can steal it under a min so you will notice it... Does that make sense

This is why my mom takes me shopping and when she turns her back she tells me to watch her bag and someone tried stealing my moms purse but it got caught in those loops In the cart and he got caught and arrested!!!!

my great grandma she uses the baby buckle thing and straps the purse down so if someone try to steal they taken the whole buggy with them and we always stand guard too because I dont want a 74 year old little woman running after a thief

Tip: most of the carts have the buckles if you have kids (in the little part in the front of the cart) and my mom always buckles the strap through her purse handle so its attached to the cart

I don't like to even carry a purse! When I go to my local shopping plaza, I always scold the unsuspecting woman that has her back turned, or walks away from, her cart, that she should be careful! They always thank me, and I tell them, "look at me, do I have a purse? No! and that is exactly why!

Me working as a loss prevention agent for a retail store I see this happen alot even when I'm out shopping myself, I always see women put their purses inside the cart and just walk away or turn their back for a minute and it irritates me, because don't realize how fast their bag or items inside the bag can be taken, I just shake my head.....

I leave my wallet in meh pocket 😂

Ever since a friend of mine got her purse stolen I’ve been telling people they shouldn’t leave their purse inside the shopping cart. My friend has kids she need the money that was in her purse. It’s so sad people do this

Dumb people placing their purse in the cart thinking it’s untouchable. Keep it on your shoulders will ya. If it’s easy for pick picketers to grab wallets from pockets this is cake for them!

I clip mine to the shopping cart with one of those carbiner ring clips. If someone tries taking the purse, they'll drag the whole cart with them lol

My grandmother always has a carabiner hook that hooks onto the cart when she’s not wearing it on her shoulders. Lots of people should do this

That’s why the elderly need a companion for shopping because even if they noticed them taking there wallet they can’t do much to get it back

My mom always buckles her purse in the shopping cart.

When I’m at the store I keep a carabiner or two on mine and clip it to the cart that way if someone tries to pick it up it’s attached to my cart. I also do my best to keep it in my line of sight.

When my mom ask to go to the grocery store i always say yes because i dont want her bag to get stolen.

I Don’t use a purse but my mom does. She uses the strap that straps the kid in and buckles it throw the handle of the purse.

One of the *many* reasons why I prefer mini backpacks over any kind of purse. I know someone could also steal things out of my backpack, but they can’t just snatch the backpack off me like those purses out of the carts

My teacher assistant got her purse stolen by a lady because she thought that the lady was gonna get the ice cream but the lady said "Oh, no you go ahead and get it" Then my teacher assistant turned her back and that's when she stole the purse from her cart
