I like these BTS factory/farm tours where we can see where our iconic (the older, the better) local products come from. They also allow us to learn about the roots of these companies and all the hard work of the people who started the business and work in them. Itʻs nice to learn about other new products, as well. I grew up eating the Diamond Bakery crackers and I still like them with peanut butter and jelly or butter and cinnamon or jam. Just a note: I like to keep the OG Diamond Royal Creme and Soda Crackers with peanut butter and honey in my emergency/evacuation bag because theyʻre lightweight, donʻt need to be refrigerated or heated up, stay edible pretty long (just pack them before hurricane season or warnings of an approaching storm), and are pretty satisfying in a camping/emergency-type situation. Itʻs a practical nostalgia thing, I guess.

Add my vote to more vids like this one! It's wonderful to support local businesses, and interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of how these treats are created. I had no idea that the same company who made the iconic soda cracker and creme cracker made all those other products too...amazing! 🤯

It's good to be reminded of our legacy local delights of the islands that we all grew up on. It's not just that they are local, but they are good, and we love it but sometimes takes it for granted of the efforts of the owners and workers keeping that level of consistency but also new products to love. The outer islands all have their specialties that have closed due to age/fatigue of the owners and families no longer wanting to continue the business. We forget that it is hard work on the owners & workers, so we should be cherishing and supporting the businesses to ensure that they continue being profitable and paying supporting wages and keep product quality to what we've enjoy. Mahalo and keep doing the videos supporting local businesses

Only thing needed is some slices of cheddar cheese. Among my earliest memories is being out on a fishing boat with my father and eating Diamond Saloon Crackers and hard cheese as our only meal....every time. I believe I read that Diamond is one of only 3 bakeries in the nation that still make hardtack aka Saloon Pilots.

simply Amazing... kinda like touring "Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory." Yeah, I know it's only fictional thing, from a 1970's film with Gene Wilder; later on, it was Johnny Depp or Timothée Chalamet (as "Wonka"). I loved eating the regular (salted) Soda Crackers, Creme Crackers (original flavor) and the giant Saloon Pilot crackers. This video feels like an heirloom item, like a home-made hair tie that my mom once made, it definitely sparks nostalgia and JOY (like in a Marie Kondo way).
