Back in grade 9 I found one of these online, found if you changed a few things, the receivers phone would crash trying to open any app except messages, then they would have to send a message back to the sender to stop it, if you didn’t know who it was that sent it your phone was busted until you deleted all messages

Imagine your $1000 smartphone getting crashed by a 14 year old who was bored 💀

this reminds me of a video called something like "worst game glitches ever": one story was about a Skateboarding game, i think it was part of the "tony hawk" series. it had an instant-messaging system for talking to other players. the system also had an optional keyboard peripheral. BUT, if someone used that system to sent a message containing odd characters like "!@#$%^&*()" to some who DID NOT HAVE that keyboard peripheral... THEIR COPY OF THAT GAME WOULD BE PERMANENTLY RUINED!
