On August 13th 2022, Man Utd were humiliated. Brentford had demolished Utd in only their second season in the Premier League having already beaten Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham the previous year.
The Bees were quickly establishing themselves in the top flight, but it hadn’t always been that easy. Just ten years ago they were playing in the third tier of English football, now they play in the Premier League after Matthew Benham used analytics to turn a $700,000 loan into more than $400 million today.
