The downside is the cleanup afterwards. You have to neutralize it before you can dispose of it, which is not a fun process and can easily get messy and dangerous.

More like chemistry. It attacks organic materials and metals, which glass is not. In general glass is really durable substance, but for example HF(aq) or NaOH (l) can disolve it.

You don't need fireworks to color flowers. We have special floral paint for that. It a lot less likely to burn the house down if you mess up.

You can bake bread in that so it's not surprising the pancake would work. It would not burn it, if ot get too hot the rice cooket would just turn off.
