The question by Robin at the end sparked an idea in my mind, it's weird, so bear with me. What if Snoke is actually a Yuuzhan Vong? I'm thinking along the lines of Onimi, the Shamed One who was controlling the Vong Supreme Overlord. A Vong who was able to reestablish his Force Connection and used it to gain power. Only this time, the Vong world ships actually *did* die in The Crossing; he and only a handful made it through the Barrier to find safety in the Unknown Regions, where they met the Imperial Remnant, later forming the First Order. Like I said, weird, but let's see if I can lay it out. The Vong are grey skinned, described as physically similar to human in bone structure and musculature, with the the exception of a larger cranial ridge. On the surface, the difference in appearance between humans and Vong comes from the ritual mutilation that their society encourages, with ears, noses and lips being disfigured or removed as well as the use of bio implants in some of the castes. They are often taller and thinner than the average human, though the aforementioned implantation process, or, more specifically, the *rejection* of the implants has been known to cause extreme deformity in Shamed Ones. Snoke is tall, thin, grey skinned, is possessed of odd skull structure and a face that only a Mother could love. Having never seen a mostly un-mutilated Vong face, it's hard to say, but his could be that of a older Vong. After I write this, I began to recall a mention that one of the story arcs that was cancelled in The Clone Wars involved the Yuuzhan Vong. So maybe he's someone like Nom Anor, a spy sent ahead to scout the Galaxy, but the invasion never arrives because the Worldships die, so he sets about to do his own thing, in the process learning how to reconnect to, or maybe just how to use, The Force. My only sticking point is that Snoke seems pretty comfortable with machines to be Vong, but so was Nom Anor, and we don't know for sure how much of the Legacy description would have made it into the Clone Wars episodes. The team may have decided they didn't like the biotech. Or the ritual mutilation for that matter.

I literally JUST read this yesterdat in The Last Command I'm on oage 61 right now and ahh man the Thrawn Trilogy really is just an outstanding piece of Legends. I just got the new Thrawn books too so I hope Timothy Zahn makes those just as good as the old ones.

So thrawn got through the shield using the technology advantage of stealth tech I’m guessing he had rebel codes for those freighters. And then when he fired at the shield no one thought to check how the bolt “passed” through the shield. And I thought imperial officers were dumb.

I get that the dreadnaughts are suppose to be good ships for their size. And also that 200 is a fair amount of ships. But I never understood why it was such a big deal. When talking about galactic scales, even if Thrawn got all 200, it just doesn't seem like it should make any real difference to me.

I thought this plan was really brilliant and it made use of whats avaliable. it demonstrated that the writers actually thought about it in contrast to the writers of the last jedi, who had clarly no idea about military strateg and tacticy and lacked any ideas to resolve the conflict they build up. why again didn´t they just made these books into movies?
