Titleist, Scotty Cameron, Vokey, Footjoy. These are some of the most recognizable brands in golf. And they are all owned by one company - Acushnet. This video discusses the company's history and dives into how the holding company's approach to managing them has made its dominance a formula rather than a probability.

Titleist clubs, Vokey wedges, Scotty Cameron putters, and FootJoy apparel and golf shoes are played and worn by many golf players you see on your golf courses. The reason why brands like Callaway, Taylormade, Mizuno, Srixon, Wilson, Ping, Cobra, Cleveland, and others cannot compete across categories is mainly down to Titleist's parent company Acushnet's management philosophy. This management philosophy has led to the company's whole club portfolio being higher quality amongst all of its clubs, including titleist drivers, titleist irons, scotty cameron putters, vokey wedges, and pro v1 balls.

I've played Titleist balls for 20 years and have wanted their clubs since my richest buddy got a 975D, but always saw them as top of the line premium clubs that were beyond my price range. I still think "oh, I bet this guy can play" when I'm on the first tee and see their clubs in someone's bag. They definitely have mystique.

Wilson being at the top was before my time, but I assume they had a similar effect to what you're describing when they held Titleist's current position. I got a great deal on the 2022 T100s, and have to say that they're great clubs.

@@marcleongolf I have a buddy who played LPGA who has those, gorgeous irons and exactly the clubs I had in mind for current day. Nice choice 👍 I play Ben Hogan Icons (2021, black)

They're driver and iron sales are consistently behind TaylorMade and Callaway, and their golf ball advantage is being erased by the USGA roll-back.

I honestly don't think the roll-back will affect them that much. Based on the MyGolfSpy tests, their balls aren't even the best in every category. They have a great marketing and brand advantage, which I don't think they will lose after the roll-back (as long as they put out a decent golf ball).

Titleist is a ball company. There equipment is for the better player they are a good product but not a great company for the everyday golfer 🤔

I would agree. While I think Titleist probably does offer good clubs for the higher handicaps, the prices would suggest that they are still considered "premium" clubs. Brands like Wilson are probably a better bet. Buying second-hand is probably still the best option regardless of brand.
