Thanks for this video. If I wanted to use a push button, that doesn't latch, but does illuminate, so my OCD doesn't have to worry about forever changing switch positions, what kind of switch would that be? I think it would be a DPDT or Changeover switch, but I'm not sure.

I know how you feel, I like my 2-way switches to point in the same direction, so they look off (or all look on). I hate it when one is up and another down, I have real problems with that. I've tried to find something on-line but unfortunately I haven't found anything yet.

Hi there, thank you for your video, this may be a stupid question, but originally you say about the switch using the gold prong for ground, then went on to connect lives to all 3 terminals on both switches, were both of the switches on/off/on switches? Thanks in advance.

No, the first switch had a LED fitted, so the switch required a ground to light it when on. The first switch was simply an ON/OFF switch. No LED fitted to the second ON/OFF/ON switches.

Any reason why touch sensitive led downlights wouldnt work with a two way switch? I'm having real trouble getting my two way lighting system to work

Petty sure they would work, can't see why they wouldn't. If I can find some cheap ones, I'll try and do a test jig. Do have a specific light in mind?

Does this work with the other switch you had (the single position switch with an LED)?

I'm really sorry I haven't responded earlier, but to answer your question I tried with the single position switch and I could only make it function as an on off switch not 2 way switch.

@@shed52please put link in bio as it doesn't work here and searching for it didn't chime up with anything.. were they specifically rated for DC? As, so many online are rated for AC. And, there is mixed feedback re if AC is ok for DC.

Is there a way to make the switch 2 way without 0 (middle) being off, keep flicking to 0 then two way dont work.

Hi sorry for the late reply, I think of the 0 location as neither on nor off but a neutral position. So to try to make a 2-way switch without the centre 0 would mean the switch wouldn't work properly. It could work but it would mean traveling to the other end of the van/vehicle to turn the lights on and off because they are not synchronised. The 0 position overcomes this, so I would recommend a switch to a 0 position. Hope this helps, David
