For those wondering: if you upgrade the Yaris damper and charger you technically have a Lyrik ultimate. The only difference is that the Lyrik has a lighter and stiffer crown. Also according to the factory manuals the air cap (idk what it’s called) is supposed to have a torque of 25Nm

a really nice how to, and very well translated, nice to see someone not rushing. and just to let you know the Clip he is taking out was a Sir Clip, and he used Sir clip pliers.. if you're wanting a little more "pop" control try the MRP Ramp Control cartridge and some SKF seals on your next Service.

Nice Install video. The main differences between the Lyrik Ultimate and your upgrade is the grease used, oil, and SKF dust seals. It's supposed to increase small bump sensitivity but that won't be too noticeable especially for a heavy ebike. Remember the air charts will be affected so you run less air on a Charger 2 damper than you would with the old motion control damper. My 2019 Lyric RC2 used about 67-70 psi and my 2019 Yari uses 92-95 psi. On the old air shafts (before Debonair came out), I used to run 3-4 tokens. On these 2019+ airshafts with the large Negative Air chambers, I end up running 0-1 tokens so I was surprised you're using so many. Most of the reviews I read also preferred to set it up with more air and zero tokens. Less volume spacers means the fork is more linear (like a coil fork) but it’s still pretty progressive at the end since it is afterall an air spring. Also with the damper, they say the fork will sit a bit higher which will also help reduce pedal strikes. Small bump sensitivity is so good already, don't worry about adding a bit more air if needed.

If you have the basic Charger damper, can you change it out to a Charger 2.1 damper without taking the lowers off?

It was not an "old charger" damper before. It was motion control damper, which is an open bath damper, hence all the oil.

Brake cleaner eats paint i use simple green degreaser and a little elbow grease and water brake cleaner also eat away at rubber cause them to crack

Dont you have trouble using all your forks travel with 3 tokens? What do you weigh? For lyriks and yari i usually have 1 to 0 tokens to utilize all available travel?

How did the upgrade feel @Sam's Bikes ?

I've got the same bike and considering this myself + 170mm air shaft so I'll be interested to see how it is. Are you running a coil shock? My deluxe r is getting replaced under warranty after only 3 rides and considering a coil shock upgrade.

You can do something similar with the marzocchi z1 and fit a Grip2 damper but don't think it would be the same as I think the air spring is different. Wonder if the Yari is actually turned into an ultimate by just fitting the new 2.1 damper...

Sam , I'm thinking of getting the decoy but I live in the Republic of Ireland , do you know how if the decoy will manage the damp and cold weather here or is it really suitable to a warm and dry country ?

Great video . I doing the same on my Bronson from 160 to 180mm and rct3 . Question ,what upgrade have you done to the rear shock ?

The video is wrong with the shaft ,new rockshox debon air added a 10mm taller seal head (red) to position the piston head right in line with the dimple.So the guys missing the taller seal head.This is only half upgrade with increase fork travel.

Would you suggest upgrading from 160 to 170mm without changing the wheel size? Or is it something just worth if you're reducing wheel size? Also, did you previously bleed oil into the charger or it comes ready to use already filled with oil? Thanks..super nice video!

It should be cleaned with isopropanol, not brake cleaner. Its not the same as you think.

It's not a different "charger" it's a different DAMPER.
