Landscape… nothing abstract about this…….thankfully! Extremely well done. I wasn’t confident in the beginning, but it gradually grew into a wonderful interpretation of the scene. I’m impressed! Thank you.

Thank you kindly! But just out of curiosity, what is it about Alizarin you don't like? I know that traditional alizarin is on the fugitive side, but I usually use Alizarin Permanent.

Thank you for sharing this video, I especially like the way you process the ‘boring’ foreground, very Richard Schmidt. To paint the background mountain in muted dark blue is also eye opening to me, the result comes out good

Your video voice is well modulated and I can listen for a long time while I paint! I am not painting the same scene and I paint in watercolor, but I catch myself using tips from you as I go along ... not the usual way to use videos, but it works for me! Keep up the good work Jason!

I signed up for plein air painting event in July in Ct with a simular scene. This helps so much! It will be my first time. My hairdresser career training in color theory with haircolor, skin tones, and makeup has trained my eye there. We layer colors on the face, work with under tones to correct etc... lol...I'm excited to give this a try! Your aesthetic and approach fits me to a tea...SNL...🤭🎨👩‍🎨

Very much enjoyed watching your video, Jason. I am painting in an Ocean City MD plein air competition next week and I appreciate from your atmospheric work. I just found your video and immediately remembered your name. I haven't seen you around for a few years. I'm pretty sure we had painted in the same venue(s) a while back. Maybe it was in Frederick, or Solomons or New Hope?..... I remember you had a couple of little children with you. You did and do impressive work.

Love your works. I've been watching a lot of your videos lately to get inspired for my next painting (which is hard for me to figure out what to do.) At (a young) 72 now, (starting with Crayola and coloring books,) I've loved everything about art from a young age. I mostly work with watercolors.... commissions in the last few years of pets. What I admire the most is your ability to "free fall" so to speak, not getting "tangled up" with perfection. Just "go with the flow." What's the point of fighting for perfection when you can just take a photo?

Ein schönes Bild, das Blau des Hügels bringt atmosphärische Räumlichkeit, die Krone des Baumes scheint t mir jedoch etwas kompakt, papisch, u differenziert zur Malerei des Hügels oder Gras im Vordergrund.... Danke!
@kyststudio-epicartadventure
You might reconsider galkyd outdoors. MS tends to break and damage the bonds of oil paint, making for a weak under layer. Or, use real turpentine outdoors, which won’t do that.

What size panel do you recommend for new plein air painters?
@JasonTako
@JasonTako Год назад
I started with around 8x10 and still do that size along with 11x14. It's difficult to cover a lot of real estate when you only have about and hour and a half to get finished before the light changes too much. That is if you want to capture the light how it is and not make it up.

Beautiful painting. You might consider changing the title. I feel like I can’t. Trust you now. I have no idea what this had to do with abstracting the painting. Maybe were using the word abstract in a very abstract way. 🤷🏻‍♂️
@JasonTako
@JasonTako Год назад
By abstracting I mean that you consider the abstract concepts first, such as design, value, color harmony, value masses. Most beginners think trees and leaves when painting rather than dark, neutral, green shape that can be transformed into an interesting design. This is different than abstract art where the abstract qualities may be there, but it's not the foundation for a representational painting. Difficult to put that all in a title.

Time-lapse teaches you virtually nothing; how could it, you just can't keep up! We need time - time to absorb, to see, to suck it all in: or I do, because I'm old, and slow.
