I'm going to incorporate some of your tips when I deal with some kids. For the most part, when I have them learn to accellerate the fixed axle diabolo, I just tell them "hold your left hand still, then pull up kinda sharp but smooth with your hand then bring down a bit slower and repeat.". They notice their left hand still moves and I tell them that's OK, just have a good grip on the stick so it won't come out of their hand. The bounce is just a sympathetic movement and it's totally normal". You did give me some good tips on the faster accelleration. I like that one because it looks really cool and I also like how it gets things going quicker. I haven't had time to practice lately. Your recent videos have given me some great advice for future purchases. New sticks, new diabolos and time to get into monobolos so I can use them like spin tops. As long as I have the gear handy and available, when I have the time, I can just grab gear and go!

This was so helpful!! I have been having a very hard time trying to accelerate my Whistle diabolo and it always got tangled or it wasn’t spinning long enough (I got some bumps and bruises in the process). Thank you!

Hi Robin, thank you for watching my videos, I’m feeling happy and grateful! I would like to put your common on my full course page, it’ll show your RU-vid name, picture and this common. What do you think? If you don’t feel comfortable with it, it’s totally ok!

Thanks for the awesome video! It really breaks down adding spin more than I have seen in other videos. I have a question about what the non-dominant hand is doing (I'm left handed). I can feel my left hand generating friction and adding speed. However, after that my right hand has to move so that I can give string back to my left hand side. When that happens, the right hand always experiences some friction from pulling tight and slows the diabolo down. If I don't pull my right hand hard enough, the string is too slack and the diablo falls off the string or gets tangled. How do you manage to go back and forth with only the left hand adding friction but still using the right hand to give string back to the left hand to add spin (did that all make sense haha?)

I'm gonna try it with my fixed diabolos I have a problem with accelerating when I'm doing shuffle with 2 maybe this will help
@calledlapiruleta
@calledlapiruleta 4 года назад
I just learned how to shuffle one month ago or so, with two fixed diabolos, but it's being super hard to accelerate them separately, like, grabbing one and keeping the other one just spining, accelerate the grab one and let it go and then grab the one who was spinning xD it's being suuuuuuuuuuper tedious.

I notice some people will move both of the strings to start the diabolo but some people only move their right hand up and down and keep their left hand still. And they both seem to work, but what’s better?

@BritneyCheng

Both of them are good depends on the climate of your location. Hot humid--> hard cups, Cold dry--->soft cups.

Hey Britney, I have a question and I can't find anyone on RU-vid who can answer it. When I put a loop in my diabolo and start accelerating up-and-down, the string always binds and the diabolo SHOOTS straight up the string really fast and knots. I'm confident that my hands and wrists and movement are all correct; I've been doing it for months, it feels comfortable, but I still can't get it to not bind up. Do you know what I'm talking about?
@BritneyCheng
@BritneyCheng 3 года назад
If your hands and wrists and movements are all correct, then you might need a new string! It also happens when your string is too old, too dusty. Try it :)

Britney, Is it easy to start vertical diabolo with a fixed one?

It's harder than using a bearing. But if you used to using fixed diabolo then it wouldn't matter.
