Probably one of the biggest mistakes android devs have made of us not being able to have access to our own phone data

Thank you so much. It took few years but we have reached point where manufacturers and developers have removed expandable storage, headphone jacks and now access to file systems of devices we have bought and paid for. Future is grim.

I don't get what they are trying to accomplish by not letting you access the Data folder! Some apps require you to add files into the data folder to WORK. Like emulators. Also my password wallet to update the saved password file requires you to be able to access its Data folder to copy and paste and backup your current passwords. I need to access its Data folder to get this file and copy paste it. These assholes don't understand how important you need to access the data folder since thry cannot let you root now.

I didn't expect it to work because i have tried in past lot of method to access it but failed but this time it worked , i am totally surprised it worked on my xiaomi 11X which has android 13. You made my day man.........thank you.........

They did it to stop app pirating... none of these works... but if u have a PC u can access the obb and data file.... and install any game just like we do it on phone... I am sorry for those guys who may not have access to a PC but this is the only working solution

You can't disable the default file explorer anymore

Google Files in the version reinstalled on ArrowOS 13 is to blame. Most old versions of this program allow you to grant these permissions (there were only a few releases that had a bug that prevented it). Unfortunately on ArrowOS13 they install as a different package and don't work.

Guys if split screen trick didn't work you (as it didn't work for me as well) i have another work around . Put one window from which you want to move/copy files from in Floating window and another window for the data/obb in full screen in the background. Upvote if it helped, as it will make the comment appear on top

Thanks, still working as of March 26 2023. Finally managed to restore my WhatsApp media (images, videos, voice notes, documents, stickers) to my new phone. Somehow WhatsApp fail to restore my backup;s media files, so I have to manually copy from my old phone into the Android/data folder. If you're trying this, take note the chat backup should be restored by WhatsApp via the proper way. Only the media files are guarantee to work.

Newest S22 Ultra Android 13, you cannot disable File Manager. But you can use Files app and split window with the new window option and drag and drop just like he show. Confirmed it worked for me. Only you cannot disable file manager.

But in my case i need to access the downloaded files from telegram X which will be saved to the data folder. But I can't open or delete the files inside the data folder. All I can do is just view the files. Any fix for this?

Okay after mild brain work I figured out it still works to paste on obb and see all files but when it comes to dolphin emulator is wont take save file in data file

I can't split in windows there are different but I can open 1 window at a time

For me I couldn't split screen the files app, and I've tried several other programs as well. I ended up connecting my phone to my pc and doing it from my pc. Much faster and it works perfectly. Also fuck android
