one of the most underrated accessories imo is suspenders! there's the classic leather, but also woven or even embroidered ones. they're perfect for a vintage or academia vibe, and they even fit some fantasy or adventurer outfits as well
A no make up look with a bold lip, I a great accessory and cheap. I’m 61 I wear whatever I want most definitely out of my age range, but who cares, be you always! I have always loved fashion, since I was a kid, and wore things that I just love. The older I get The bolder I am . Great video , kudos ♥️👑
i’m 20 and i love seeing older ladies that just don’t give a fuck. there’s an 80 year old that works at my library that has a bright orange hat and matches her lips and stockings to it. it’s kinda inspiring and icomforting to know that i can still be cool as i age.
I feel you on not conforming your style into merely what society sees as age appropriate. It can take a while to be confident. As a teen in the 80s I really wanted to dress like Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan. But I lacked the confidence. Now I think I might give it a try. Maybe add it into my rotation of style aesthetics.
*Accessorizing tips* 1. Mix & match aesthetics (example wear a masculine outfit with feminine jewelry and hair) 2. Use accessories to change an outfit’s vibe > kinda similar to tip 1(example u have a basic outfit and then add a knit bag and butterfly necklace) 3. Experience with maximalism+minimalism 4. Match accessories to ur outfits colour palette 5. Wear items in an unintended way (example wearing a scarf as a belt instead of a scarf) 6. Use accessories to change the silhouette (example ur wearing a loose shirt u can tie a belt at the waist for a diff silhouette) 7. Diy accessories > nobody will be able to replicate u, therefore u stand out look unique and cool (example adding patches on ur pants) 8. Support local/small shops/artists > they are often handmade so u look cool & unique like in tip 7 9. Take a look at vintage accessories/thrifting 10. Come up with go to accessories that match with everything > is handy when ur in a hurry but still look hot *Accessory ideas* 1. Hats > berret, baseball cap, beanie, bucket hat, etc. 2. Scarves > handkerchief, knitted, etc. 3. Bags/purses > tote bag, messenger bag, crochet purse, leather, velvet, etc. 4. Belts 5. Jewelry/watches 6. Makeup/hair/nails 7. Hair accessories > clips, beads, elastics, ribbons, etc. 8. Strings/ribbons > make a necklace, purse accessory, pants accessory, etc. 9. Pins 10. Ties > as a tie, a belt or headband 11. Harnesses/bosy chains 12. Tights > fishnet, lace, pattern, coloured 13. Arm/leg warmers 14. Keychains 15. Glasses/sunglasses 16. Headphones > u can add bows or decoration on it so its accessory on accessory (rlly cool) 17. Shoe accessories > chains, bows, embroidery, bead on laces, different lacing techniques, etc.
Another way to accessorize could maybe be like body art, prob mostly like henna and permanent and/or temporary tats and stuff but you could also just… draw.. on yourself. Maybe a little chaotic, but maybe also kind of fun and different.. something you don’t really see a ton of…
some of my favorites ways to accesories : - vests/sweaters vest/waistcoats - bengels - chunky earings ( my favs are jhumka earings) - ties ( the more funky the better ) - trinkets ( on you're bags , belt loops , jeans ) - pins - broches ( they are so underated ) - scarfs ( fun colors , patern , size ) - big scrunchies or cool hairstyles - mixing silver and gold ( trust me it look good )
i enjoy adding a waistcoat/vest to my outfits, it instantly elevates it! i also have my signature jewelry + a new pair of anatomical heart earrings a friend made - they make some cool earrings in general, so i will be expanding my funky earring collection
I will comment to some more later, but oh my goodness I feel accessories really put the cherry on top of any outfit and can make a minimalist outfit something even more stunning! I love accessories and will comment more with the ones I love best later I have to run right now! 💕💕💕💕 thank you for another amazing video Mariel
You got me so exited to try things out now! I didn´t know about some of those accessories before either so I´ll definitively check those things out. I love the Art Nouveau jewelery included in some of the pictures and I can definitively see those go well with Fairycore of Whimsigothic stuff. And for further DIY stuff there are Wire Jewelry and different kind of metal clays like silver clay et , that is more intense and takes some stuff to get started with tho.
oh, you just reminded me that I have a collection of sweater clips that I never wear! 😅 Also i have to check out those nail rings ... I'm too impatient to paint my nails anymore.
I got in Luv with the sweater Ur wearing ... And in a good luck momento i found a look alike in a local thrift store... The moment i saw it in the rack i remembered u and Ur vid... Hugs from El Salvador
tbh all of my favorite accessories are from the thrift!! definitely always scout out your thrift stores jewelry cases, bags, scarves, and hats. i feel like accessories are less picked through at the thrift too and it’s easier to find great items
Depends. It matters what you love to see. Sometimes I wear an entire outfit Zero accessories and then go to the mall and try on stuff or hold them up. Thrift store has some of the cheapest and most unique but wear what you love. I’m not going to buy pink or fluffy cutesy things but things that I do love like Afghanistan jewelry, Indian jewelry is extremely hard to come by where I live so I go thrift stores. Hats, scarves, belts are the cheapest at thrift stores but quality matters over anything. It doesn’t matter how adorable a scarf print is if the item looks like you got it at the dollar store, SHEIN or cheap Temu.
This was a lot of fun, took a lot of ideas from this like pinning down fabric to create a draping effect, so beautiful 😍 Omg I have that hair comb at 11:41, Rose's butterfly comb from Titanic, it was such a splurge for me at the time lol I recently found my great grandfather's cufflinks, I want to wear them but I dread losing them. Also, is perfume an accessory? Because your scent can also impact how you come across to others.
