Definitely true. But I took it like, this is the best case scenario. Hit as many of these points as possible. It helped me remember to not fixate on one point and get stuck. ADHD-related perfectionism makes this test super hard!
The Casper only marks on what you did answer and not on what you couldn’t. If you can’t answer all 3 questions but you answered 1-2 of the questions fully. They score you on the 2 with a chance of still scoring full marks. Remember, the Casper wants you to answer the question fully with insight rather than see how fast you can type. Hope this helps!!
I think it's possible, so long as you have that framework of what you're going to say in mind. The general concept of empathy, compassion, no assumptions, inquiring about different perspectives, etc. can be discussed immediately and prepared beforehand with some editing to fit the specific scenario. If you can type more than 50-60 words per minute, then you're ok. I'm typing around 110-120 wpm and can fit in half a word doc of 11pt font, single spaced, in under five minutes.
@@veraserah Preparing a response beforehand and then editing it to fit the scenario during the test is cheating on the test unless you are given some sort of exemption from Casper
Thank you for this amazing video! I thought my responses were pretty good after taking the practice run but the responses to these scenarios blew me away. Your analysis of them have been so valuable in assessing my own way of writing: I need to be less vague and emphasize my traits and beliefs, as well as those they are "looking for" in answers!!
it is AI marked and so you need the key words to pass...the only way to get the key words in order to pass is to take a Casper course where they give you the key words to type in for your test or get them from a friend that knows the key words.
@@angelaanderson2105 This is not true, the casper test is scored by real humans, and a different person scores each of your scenarios. This is stated in this video as well as on the casper test website.
You are the best for this, really helpful for me in prepping for CASPer. Also, I did theatre for years and your acting isn't all that bad, well done lol
Wait seriously in every other “Casper sample prep questions video” they sound like robots. This is the best video by far you’re hitting the key concepts and not just rehearsing a script
Also suggestion for a second video. Perhaps some demos of the questions that are more personal? Not asking you to reveal your personal life or anything but I took a practice test where the scenario was think of a book, movie or piece of media that has impacted you. And then the questions were like why did this impact you and then did it impact your ability to communicate with others or something like that? I just was so lost because I couldn’t follow the sort of gather more information and act with empathy route route
you need to take a Casper workshop in order to get the key words to pass this test...it is marked using AI tech and so you are screened for these key words no matter how great your answers it is an AI screener looking for these key words to pass the test....
Hi thanks for your video! I just got my results back and managed to get in the top quartile, i was having some keyboard issues also with sticky keys. Your video and a few others on youtube were most helpful to understand the mindset going into the Casper test so thanks a lot.

This was incredible! Great work. Thank you so very much for this wonderful and in-depth video. I have my CASPer in three days and this made me feel so much better :)
I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video! It helped me a lot to watch this the morning of my exam and then I took the practice CASPER exam about 3 hrs before my real one. I got pre-selected to view my score for a pilot program they're doing and I scored in the 4th quartile, so I scored better than 76%-100% of the other test-takers in my cohort :) Thanks again!
Hi Anna, this test is marked using AI technology and no matter how great your typing speed or wonderful your answers are you are being marked by an Ai tech program that is looking for key words because it is programmed to look for certain words. You have to take a Casper workshop in order to get access to these key words or you either won't pass or score high on the test. Anyone who has passed has taken the Casper workshop and knows the key words.
This was very helpful and informative, I realized that in most situations I personally chose to take an approach that doesn't involve myself when dealing with a stranger, but was more receptive with the business partner question its good to know I have this flaw and will be aware of this during my test.
I feel like this is a test that people study for, but never use in real life. Who would snitch on a classmate for cheating? Some of these "correct answer" scenarios are a bit too unrealistic, I think.
I was taught to never lie , cheat or steal or tolerate anyone who does.......but I primarily work in jobs that people could die if cheating stealing or lying were tolerated.
Could you please link the supplemental practice CASPer questions you spoke about at the end of the video? I had a look on your website but I was unable to find it.
Hi Nisha, you have to take a Casper workshop in order to get access to the key words to type in during the test...as they mark using AI technology...no matter how great you answer the test you won't pass without the key words the AI tech is looking for or programmed to look for.
I am trying to see how you follow PPRDJ method in these answers but the answers do not seem to follow that outline. This is making it hard for me to know how to answer. It doesn't seem like your following an outline in any of the answers.
Hey yeah so just sharing that the Casper test is marked using AI tech and the AI tech is programmed to look for key words. You need to type in the key words to pass...and of course the only way to know the key words is having a trusting friend that has taken a Casper workshop share them with you or taking an expensive Casper workshop to gain access to the key words. The Casper company does not have to reveal how Casper is marked under trade secret like KFC recipe chicken...but everybody knows that it is marked using AI tech...otherwise why would you fail if you don't have the key words this hints to tech programming that is similar to job site tech programs like Indeed that looks for key words or they don't forward your resume on to the employer...etc.
Am I the only one that thinks the answer for the first question sounded really pompous and holier-than-thou and as a result not at all compassionate? I think it's the way it's worded. Does anyone else have any thoughts? I'm trying to figure out how to change my answer to be better but that one doesn't sit right with me for some reason
I'm genuinely wondering if that's the answer this test was looking for. That's an insane response. "Threaten cheater/rat cheater out, then get involved with cheater in some advisory/advocacy capacity if they confess their trivial sin that carries a potentially career ending consequence"-----Can you imagine if another student threatened to have your career destroyed before it even began? That is NOT the kind of threat I have any interest in making towards somebody, that in itself could very well be life threatening. It's the schools responsibility to maintain academic integrity, not vigilante students. I'm gonna put my life or wellbeing on the line so this little ethical violation can be prosecuted, that's insane. Without knowing what this test is actually looking for, this information is basically useless.
okay but telling your classmate that you're going to turn them in but you'll help them plead their case to the conduct committee against the thing you snitched on them for in the first place is crazy 🤣
We hear you! But remember the purpose of the exam: The Casper raters are evaluating your decision-making process and commitment to upholding ethical standards, even if it would be "socially unpopular."
Thanks for your video it's really helpful. I have a question and I'd like to know what u think if u dont mind. English is not my first language and the sentences I use are very simple with not so many elaborate words. Would that cause a problem? And what do you suggest for me to do to improve?
Hi there! I encourage you to read our CASPer guide in preparation for your upcoming test date: www.shemmassianconsulting.com/blog/casper-test Good luck!
@@malette_l1590 good luck!! My experience wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. If you’re applying for a BS/MD program they will probably ask for your reasons in choosing to pursue a medical career.
@@Account-wd6pm it actually went well! I did run out of time on a few questions and my spelling was all over the place 😭😭 because I was trying to type as fast I could.
10:19 "no mitigating circumstances can excuse cheating" This seems excessive, and I'm sure that if we tried to be creative we could think of a few examples.
@@Shemmassian your answer not only demonstrated poor ethics, it demonstrated extremely poor judgment. Confront another student for cheating? It is the schools responsibility to maintain academic integrity, not vigilante students suspicious of where another student's eyes were during an exam. Also, as this scenario took place in an undergrad situation, that ethical violation would have no bearing on whether or not the student would become a doctor as they still would have to take the MCAT and then still get through all of med school. The answer provided suggests that the "ethical" decision is to destroy your classmates career *before it starts* for no substantial or important reason while simultaneously doing it in a manner that could very realistically end in a serious conflict. Your response was abhorrent. A real ethical violation is something like diluting drugs, or claiming to have reviewed a patients records when a physician hasn't, or not taking the time to adequately examine a patient's complaints because a doctor is incredulous of the claims. I genuinely would like to know if this testing company has told you what the correct response should be and if that was it. Also, a person who genuinely has a mindset to do something like that would be an absolute nightmare to work with. If that's your genuine and honest response I'm sure you work independently the vast majority of the time because that mentality was insufferable to read, and I pity anyone who has had to work with it.
"Can you imagine how difficult your job would be as a physician if your nurses had different expectations of their roles than you did" Future physicians, we aren't "your nurses", we are professionals with our own role and responsibility. Please don't treat us like your underlings, because we are not, we are your colleagues. I know this is not what the video about, but its such a pervasive perspective that physicians are led to believe, I felt it was important to mention.
idk what you mean by "underlings"----not sure what that implies, but last I checked nurses have their roles and that role involves taking orders from doctors. RN's get to make good money straight out of their bachelors, or hell, could be an associates for an LPN. We have 4 years of intense undergrad and then another 4 years of med school, then another 2 to 5/7 years where we are getting paid practically nothing relative the amount of hours we'll work. Get over it, nobody is talking about disrespecting you, but you chose your path and that path involves taking orders from doctors. And to be completely honest, it didn't help the image of nurses when a whole bunch of you came out as vehemently anti-vax. If that's an accurate characterization, then i can see why doctors may not see you as colleagues.
@@outtarespecttomyfawtha1589 You are misinformed and honestly this attitude is going to have a negative impact on your ability to provide good care to your patients. The point is that nurses are your colleagues, they don’t work for you, they work alongside you. It’s true that nurses can be educated at various levels, but in Canada they can have anywhere from 3-8 years of education depending on what level they are. They are highly trained professionals but it’s very common for nurses to be talked down to because of the history of nursing as a female dominant profession. The issue here is that this guy addresses nurses as though doctors have ownership of them and that is not the case. Yes, part of our job is to verify and carry orders that the physician places, but it’s not the same as simply ”taking orders”. It still requires critical thinking, skill, autonomy and professionalism. My problem here is that nurses are not treated like equals. This is a chronic problem which affects the wellbeing of the patients and staff. If you want to contribute to that problem, then I’m sorry for you and I’m sorry you are in this field. God be with your patients.
@@alliesong77 I have no real issues with nurses, and I do not know your system in Canada so please keep that in mind. In America a nurse would not be described as being equal status to a doctor in a hospital outside of retaining rights that need to be respected by all participants in any workplace. And trust me, I know there are nurses who are smarter than doctors, but nurses still have to follow the docs game plans regardless of how bad it may be, unless of course those decisions are life threatening, in which case the nurse needs to get another doctor involved in order to fix the situation. Regardless, disrespect in the workplace is wrong, but tbh, I feel like this guy saying "your nurses" isn't even offensive. It didn't have a vibe to it, it just implied a tierd system of authority in patient care, which I find irritating and disturbing that you seem to want to reject. It's freaky to think (and this is in reference to American hospitals and nurses) that nurses are walking around in hospitals thinking they are "equals" to doctors when so many of them still refuse to get the vaccine.. I guess Canada is different, I will read about it because that sounds interesting. I'm wondering if that advanced education is like an NP we have here.
@@alliesong77 if you wanted to undermine stupid doctors you should have become a pharmacist idk what to tell you. As far as I know that's the only profession that can unilaterally dismiss a doctor order.
Hello! Most personal questions will ask you about time you have to overcome a challenge. The best way to prepare for these types of questions is to: 1) Identify the problem 2) Discuss the considerations made 3) Outline the steps taken and explain why you decided on this course of action
@@Shemmassian Many thanks for your reply! I quite literally just finished the test. It's exhausting! To everyone taking the test: make sure you stay focused the whole time, work on your typing speed, and do at least one practice test beforehand! Good Luck!
How do fast typing skills demonstrate the things the Casper says it measures? In the cheating scenario the fault is with the instructor for designing a crappy assessment that can be cheated on. Poor pedagogy is the real travesty there.
I hate the CASPER, it is a stupid test. personality cannot be tested, we all know people are just going to write whatever the readers want to hear. in my honest opinion, what I would do if I see my classmate cheating, is mind my own business. I would talk to him and tell him that he might get caught, but I will not snitch on him. if he gets caught he gets caught. Although I would try to help him study for the next exam by sharing my study materials. Im sure most people would also do the same..... BS test.
massive tip: During video prompts - dont watch the video (its easy to get distracted, if you are a very observant person) put your head down and just listen to the video itself.
After watching basically every CASPer-related video on RU-vid, I have to say this is easily the best and most useful one. Terrific work! Thank you very much!
This is helpful, but I think you should've tried limiting yourself to 5 minutes to give us example answers. The answers are perfect. Way too perfect to replicate during the actual test
@@simrankaur1739 Definitely go over this video a few times, do the practice casper questions, and try your best to display empathy first and foremost. In the video he talked about talking to the cheating friend in private. Little things like that go along way. Expressing you would want person X to feel comfortable. Expressing how you would listen to another person's point of view while refraining from judgement. I even went over some of the practice questions with my friends and critiqued their responses to then add/enhance mine. If you can figure out what not to do, it helps. Remember this is all under "standard scenarios." :) Good luck!
There's a lot of things wrong about this CasPer test and I think it should be abolished. 1. How can people rate your moral from 1 to 9? What appears to be moral for one person might not necessarily be so for another. This must be purely subjective. 2. What if you are a "slow typer"? This discriminates you from joining med school or studying a degree that has no correlation between your success in it and the way you respond via text or when pressured to talk in front of a camera. WHAT THE HELL?
I applied to a uni last minute when my family convinced me I had a shot, checked back 5 days later to realize that the CASPer test’s only available date is tomorrow! Here’s hoping with enough last minute prep and determination I’ll make it!
This video is informative. However, I don't think their responses are realistic. They typed whole paragraphs for their response examples, and it's not realistic when you only have 5 mins for 3 loaded questions. Also, before someone chews my head off, YES, other Casper videos on YT that provide a more realistic response to scenarios. It is still a helpful video but i would take their response with a grain of salt and figure out ways on how to say more with less words.
Im not sure if you guys still check your comments but I cannot thank you all enough for this video. It was all i used to prep for the test and it was all I ended up needing to do really well. You guys rock!
If you were the professor would you not want to see why the felt the need to cheat? Would you want to address or identify any underlying issues such as a fundamental misunderstanding of the material, or perhaps a lack of understanding why cheating negatively impacts themselves and their colleagues?
I wrote about that in my responses as well. I find it imperative to know why they felt unprepared for the exam and felt the need to cheat. Maybe, as a professor, I need to change the way I teach to make the content more approachable. However, I also made sure to include some of the other content that the video mentioned. I guess we just have to be super quick thinkers and typers to nail all parts of this exam.
Hi Borat, This exam is marked using AI technology the test takers need to input key words in order to pass this test as the AI tech is screening for these words...you can input all the best answers but without the key words from a Casper workshop you won't pass
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL. I had no idea what I was getting into with this test. Between my ADHD and possible autism, I can get hung up BAD on some questions. But this was amazing practice. THANK YOU!!
this is an AI marked test.. you need to take a Casper workshop or have a friend that has taken the workshop in order to pass it you need to know the key words that the AI technology is looking for.
I wanted to personally thank you for providing an alternative which seems to be more efficient than some of the other sources in preparing for the CASPER test. Please inform me of any additional sources to fully understand the ethical spectrum as well as if you can provide feedback for students answers.
Yeah youre really not supposed to confront students. You tell the professor. you do not want to be caught up in some BS. you say I saw X doing Y and thats it. You can feel bad about it but theres some institutions that will punish you or your class if youre not careful.
that answer that was provided in the vid for the cheating reeked of psychosis. I've never cheated on an exam, nor have I seen anyone else cheat, but if I heard of another student doing that "threaten cheater/be cheaters ethical advisor and advocate" I would make an conscious effort to stay very far away from that person. That is also the kind of person who starts massive shit in the workplace.
this is an AI test and no one will pass without the key words the AI tech is looking for...and for that to happen you need to take a Casper workshop where they give you the key words.
@@angelaanderson2105 The one I took (for SAIT in Calgary) was marked from a panel of examiners which are also randomized - at least that's what they tell us.
I wanted to let you know that the Casper test is marked using AI tech and the AI tech is programmed to look for certain key words. In order to get access to these key words you need to take a Casper workshop and when you take your test you have to type in the key words they gave you or the AI tech will fail you on the test.
Hi there! You'll want to ensure that your language is clear and concise, but don't worry if the words you used in your responses don't match ours exactly.
I’m scared - I have the test in a week. I have extremely good ethics and morals. I’ve been working as an educational assistant with severely challenged children. I’ve seen it all. My responses weren’t what I liked. But in person I find my choices great
Hi RNH2013, I wanted to let you know that you need to take a Casper workshop in order to pass the test as they mark it using AI technology the AI screener is programmed to pick up on certain key words that you will only know if you or a friend take a Casper workshop and you are told what the key words are... Its is an AI test and to pass you have to outbeat the AI tech...
Would it have been valid in the third question of the first scenario if we said something along the lines of counseling and educating each of the culpable students, taking more of a rehabilitationalist approach as opposed to a punitive approach? I specifically mentioned discounting previous assignments and replacing them with new ones. Or does CASPer emphasize taking the more punitive measures like reporting all the wrongdoers irrespective of the circumstances.
No matter what you response, it's important to discuss various considerations. Adcoms are looking to learn now just your "decision" but also how you came to it. Therefore, spell out your thought process to win those additional points. It's like a math problem--you can get partial credit if you show your work, even if your final answer isn't 100% correct.
thanks for the helpful video. Should we write complete sentences? Can we write short incomplete sentences since it may save my time. I mean phrases without subjects rather than full sentences.I believe raters do not look at grammar or spelling.
Hi Nalin! We recommend writing complete sentences so raters can clearly understand your responses. Check out our blog post on this topic for more detailed guidance: www.shemmassianconsulting.com/blog/casper-test
yeah so the Casper test uses AI tech to mark the tests and in order to pass the Casper test their AI tech looks for key words. You need to type in the key words in order to pass the test as you have to outbeat the AI tech to pass. The only way to get access to the AI tech key words is through a Casper workshop where they go over key words...you have to have these words to pass or score high on the Casper test.
Is it good to give an answer addressing the person in the scenario in first person perspective? For example writing as your answer "hey Dan I've noticed you've been falling behind on your work, is there anything we can do to help you?"
Thank you for the video. I'm sure your answers would lead to a high percentile ranking, but let's be honest in the real world these answers are utter corporate nonsense. The PREview test is just as bad in that it is coaching doctors to be conflict averse and indecisive. Rather than coming up with a solution you are expected to defer to the group's authority, consult everyone's perspective and to do so in a way that doesn't generate conflict. Give me a break!
