Every day before going to the lab and doing measurements I treat myself to one of Andy's videos. I cannot start to tell how I optimized my workflow to go through thousands of papers with the apps and websites he suggested multiple videos. Moreover, the point he makes here is quite essential; not get burned out and enjoy it while doing it. I have been following Andy for a year now and can quite honestly say that if I complete my thesis/paper(M.Sc), a substantial percentage would be because of Andy. Cheers! 🍻

I am a undergrad now and I REALLY enjoyed my research project. It is tired and sometimes annoying but I still love it. And that is why I decided to do grad school after. (Now I did most of the research work in the project while my PI wrote the paper. )

I am just a month into my STEM PhD and I've been taken aback by how much encouragement I have needed in this process to know that I am not mucking up my first semester. This video is so useful and the channel is a godsend.

What has worked for me to avoid feeling overwhelmed is carrying a monthly calendar that has all the major events and obligations laid out, but each morning I fill out an index card with what I want to do that day. this gives me place to put down things I notice need doing at the time, like doing laundry, as well as a spot to put things that come up last minute. I use a binder clip to hold it inside my calendar. Each evening or morning depending on when I have time, I make a new note card that carries forward anything I didn’t get done the previous day and adds anything new that’s coming up. (so far I’ve been saving all the previous notecards in my desk drawer, as a visual reminder that I am accomplishing things!) at the bottom of my calendar I put down dates that are coming up for the future, at least a month out. that way I’m not overwhelmed with clutter but I also have an idea of what’s coming down the pike. I do use a Google calendar with reminders for regularly scheduled stuff as well.

I'm nowhere near starting my PhD, but one of my favourite things to do when I'm hanging around younger students is to give a lecture on whatever weird, higher level topic I've been learning about recently

@@dr.emilyacevedo812 and I found his channel at the right time one month before My PhD officially started. I was lucky because I wanted to go into my PhD fully prepared of course nothing can prepare you for a PhD completely but atleast being aware of the ups & downs really does help to cope up with the process.

How to enjoy your phd: fine a good supervisor and group. How to hate your phd: stay with a bad supervisor. I wish I had advices before! I would run far away from my process!
