This was great! I like that you walk us through actually creating them so that we can learn how to adjust as needed. I know shortcuts can get fairly complex, but it's fun to build and learn. Not many out there that do that in an approachable way. But I also like the backup of having them created for us, too (though ran into some issues like the Note app demanding my phone be unlocked to run fully...would like to know how it was built so maybe I can dig in and fix). In any case, more of these please (esp HomeKit Automation tricks)!

Because it's specifically built for the Apple Watch, if you run those shortcuts on your iPhone, you'll always have to unlock it first. Hope this helps and thanks again!

@@macvince thanks, and I’ll check it out! Yes, it won’t save the note until the iPhone is unlocked. It just acts like it keeps running until I unlock it and won’t save if it isn’t. I’m running the iOS 17 beta though so that may be why? Behaves a bit differently perhaps. I will check out the Mac shortcuts and eager for more videos like these for watch, phone, and home!

@@HollyKlingler You're right, I've also tried it out and it seemed to stopped working with the iOS 17 beta (it's also on my iPhone). Before, it worked perfectly fine. I hope this is fixed with the final release. Thanks again for your feedback and hope you'll enjoy the Mac shortcuts too!

Thank you so much, I appreciate that! Normally Siri voice commands should work, however for me, they often don't on my Apple Watch. Maybe they do for you - or maybe Apple will fix that in a future Apple Watch update... Sorry!

I’m using the ultra 2 and have done the safari shortcut however it does not show on my watch and only has backtrack features on the shortcuts. I have followed every step! Anyone else have this and have found a workaround? Thanks for the video, useful otherwise.

@@macvince Hello, I applaud the fact that you take time to answer comments here :) I guess if your channel grows, which i think it will, you will reach a point where this won't be possible. Anyways, yes, my family name is spelled with an "Ö" and the shortcut transforms the "Ö" to weird signs (√ñ). And, if you don't mind, i would also lika to add my organisation but adding the Vcard code "ORG:" to the shortcut doesn't work. Cheers!

Thanks a lot. This solved the ”Ö” problem. However, the address doesn’t show (the field is there but empty) and i also tried to add ”ORG:” in the code for the Vcard above the telephone number and then the variable for my organisation, but that doesn’t show at all. Thanks again for fixing the sign problem!

Thank you very much for watching! Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow you to run to the shortcut immediately, you always have to confirm it. Sorry! However, I noticed this to be quite good as you would otherwise run a lot of shortcuts by mistake if you‘re tapping your display. Hope this helped!

I liked the idea of the notes shortcut for the watch!!! I tried to modify the shortcut to have Siri prompt me for input and then append that text input to one note, but I can't get it to work on the watch. It would be nice to have one note with ideas rather than numerous notes. Have you had any luck with something like this?

Thanks for watching! Sorry, not that I know of. Maybe try deleting and re-installing the Shortcuts app (but make sure all your shortcuts are synced to iCloud so you don't lose them) / restart your watch. Hope this helped!

Thanks! Yes, that's possible: In the Shortcuts app, you can tap on Automations. Then create a Personal Automation and select one of the triggers (you can also select your home Wi-Fi as a trigger). Add an Action and search for Watch. You can now select Set Watch Face and choose your wanted watch face. Hope this helped!

1:02 - Really important side-note for syncing your shortcuts with your Apple Watch: Go to your iPhone Settings > Shortcuts > Make sure iCloud Sync is on! Thanks Vince! These are great examples. I’m running into a problem you might be able to help with. I’d like to be able to turn on the flashlight with a shortcut. Although I can tell Siri to do it, I can’t seem to make it work from a shortcut. It thinks my device doesn’t have a flashlight when I try. Are you able to turn it on from a shortcut? Thanks!

Hey Barry, thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video! There's a shortcut action named "Set Torch", you can search for it when creating a new shortcut. Just make sure you're picking the one from the Watch category, not the iPhone category. Hey! I actually currently have the same issue with watchOS 10 - I think it's a bug and hope Apple will fix it with a future update. Maybe try restarting the Watch, but for me this didn't work... Sorry!

Hey, what helped me once when I had this issue was deleting the Shortcuts app from my iPhone and then reinstalling it - make sure iCloud syncing is turned on so your shortcuts are not being deleted + screenshot your Automations because those can't be synced to iCloud. This worked for me and they then showed on the Apple Watch after a few minutes. Hope this helps.

Great tips, thank you. On the iPad, can I create a shortcut to press ‘1’, or ‘2’. I’m using a streaming app and they are the 2 keys you can use on a Bluetooth keyboard to swap camera angles. Then put the shortcut on my Apple Watch to change camera angles. Cool if works

Hey! Das Problem hatte ich auch schonmal. Ist leider ein bekannter Bug... Was helfen könnte: Die Kurzbefehle-App auf dem iPhone einmal löschen und neu herunterladen. (Vorsicht, Automationen werden dann gelöscht, da diese nicht gespeichert sind in der Cloud). Die Apple Watch neustarten. Wenn das immer noch nicht hilft: iCloud Sync für Kurzbefehle einmal in den Einstellungen deaktivieren und wieder aktivieren. Bei mir hat das geholfen... Hoffe bei dir auch!

Außerdem, jedes mal wenn ich die App öffne steht da “Icloud Kurzbefehle gelöscht” Egal was ich abtippe die Meldung schließt sich und es passiert nichts die ist immer da wenn ich die App öffne hab die auch schon von der Icloud getrennt hat nichts geholfen hast du da ne Idee?

This is a great video with one big caveat. At this time, shortcuts do not sync to Apple Watch unless iCloud is on. Tech said to wait for next update or turn on iCloud. I don't iCloud. Not for much, anyway.

The Create Note shortcut works great if I am at home with my iPhone connected to Wi-Fi. However, if I am away from home or turn off my iPhone Wi-Fi, I get this message "Message send failed"

Yeah, unfortunately, it needs an internet connection because the Apple Watch itself can't store notes (it has no Notes app), so it sends it to your iPhone. Sorry for that...

@@musictheory4u153 You can‘t really change that in the shortcut, but you can change the default dictation/keyboard language in your Watch settings or just change your keyboard when inputting the text, by swiping the keyboard up.

Wow Kompliment absolut guter Kanal! Schon viele gesehen… auf der Liste und wieder runtergenommenen.. Da ich mich auskenne erkennt man leicht das du dieses alles mit Herzblut machst .. sehr sehr gut … Als jemand der sich mit Sprechen auskennt, gebe ich dir einen Tipp… Wenn du dabei etwas mit etwas langsamer sprichst wirkst du mehr glaubhaft als manch anderer … Begeisterung gehört dazu aber jeder muss dich verstehen können.. Also das Wort .. für die Begeisterung ist deine Mimik verantwortlich.. Ich habe deinen Kanal auf meiner Liste … mal sehen ob es noch besser wird Viele Programme schon dadurch gefunden… Danke Nach etwas zu Kurzbefehle Seit IOS 16 laufen viele nicht immer korrekt und die Sync zwischen den Geräten ist nicht gegeben… Schade Gute Arbeit … 👌👌👍👍👍👍🙏🙏

Had the same problem and many other viewers too - it often helps to delete the Shortcuts app on iPhone and reinstall it. Make sure you've got iCloud enabled for Shortcuts so they don't get deleted. Also, Automations don't sync over iCloud, so you'll have to create them again afterwards. Could fix the problem - and restart your Watch + iPhone. Hope this helps!

Hey, do you have both bluetooth and wifi enabled on iPhone and Apple Watch? Otherwise - delete the Shortcuts app from your iPhone and re-install it (make sure that all your shortcuts are saved to iCloud so you won't lose them) - had the same issue as you once and this fixed it. Hope I could help!

Unfortunately, you always have to confirm it on the Watch - I guess it's to avoid accidental taps.

Hey, sorry to hear that! There's an empty variable where you have to type in the website you want to open every time you run the shortcut. To make it easier, it's no pre-set to Google.com. Try adding the shortcut again from the link in the description, the updated one should work. Hope this helps!

Works after a restart. I guess icloud syncing needed to happen. as the shortcut has an empty variable it is provided and not ask every time.

Good that it's working now - you're right, you first have to set the variable to the website you want to visit. To make it easier, the shortcut is now already pre-set to Google.com.

@@macvince thank you for deciphering my poor grammar lol. Yes I think google works fine. I have set mine to ask every time though. Also I needed to turn on icloud syncing to get the shortcuts onto the watch.
