Hey bro, I actually just got this for a school project. Using the raspberry pi 4 and the same adafruit bonnet as well as the same led matrix (same vendor of AliExpress). And I have soldered the e to the 8 pin on the bonnet. However after running the demo my led matrix bugs out and flickers intensely. I have tried all different gpio slowdowns. And recommendations? Help greatly appreciated

Could be a power deficiency - try attaching the power leads to a PSU if you have one or you can manually to a USB lead to a wall plug

Hi I have done the same as you did but I powered the Bon next directly with a DC Barrel connector. The led board is not getting any power

There must be a power deficiency somewhere. As a last resort, you can manually wire the red/black led power cable to a USB plug. Then plug it into a USB port. I haven't had any issues this way.

I'm powering my Pi and matrix through the barrel jack on the Adafruit bonnet, with the matrix cables going into the terminals on the bonnet. Is there any reason you chose to power the pi and matrix separately? Was it just to show power draw?

There's no right or wrong way - I just powered manually as I did not have a power source for the bonnet jack handy. Also I planned to place all units within a cube format - allowing me to attached a battery pack via usb so it was mobile, although I was unable to draw upto 3 amps via the battery pack on 6 panels. this will involve a custom mobile battery pack I suspect. Hope you're enjoying your new matrix, enjoy! :)

The description of the bonnet says that for each led line you'll need at 0.12 amps of power. For a 64x64 matrix you would need at least 8amps.. how do you get away with only providing 3 amps?
@Josiias

Or is it because you connected the power cable directly to the matrix?

0.12 mA per led

Thanks for the video, very helpful! Can you describe in more detail how you shorted the E and 8 pads on the RGB bonnet? Did you just melt a blob of solder onto the E and 8 pads? I'm very new to this so more detail on that would be great. Thanks!

That’s all it takes!

Yes as you've said just add a blob of solder onto both E and 8. Be sure to let me know if there's any help you need!

@@Echo42Lukesounds like you need to adjust the rows/cols command. What size panel are you working with?

I have a 64x64, i am using the adafruit bonnet and have soldered between E and 8, it does look like the scale just needs to be amended somewhere or using code but I have not too much understanding on coding so need guidance @@jakesllama

How to display live camera streaming ? Is it possible

Yes, not straight forward but what you're after is the Flaschen_Taschen protocol

Thanks for this video. Is there a limit on how many LED displays can be connected together? Thanks

Not sure but with RPI Zero W 2 (quad core rpi zero) this is really reaching the limitations of the board

All works until i test it with the "./demo -D 4 --led-rows=64 --led-cols=64 --led-gpio-mapping=adafruit-hat --led-slowdown-gpio=1". Than i get the error: bash: ./demo: not found

Hey KonstiKing! Sorry just seen this. It seems you may just need to move into the directory that the program is in or make sure it is downloaded. curl github.com/hzeller/rpi-rgb-led-matrix/tree/master/lib cd rpi-rgb-led-matrix/examples-api-use make sudo ./demo -D 1 runtext.ppm Advise reading instructions here github.com/hzeller/rpi-rgb-led-matrix/tree/master/examples-api-use
