Thanks so much. I have got English Trials next week and this is what I was most concerned on. Now that stress is alleviated to an extent because of this very nice explanation.
I have paper 1 on Tuesday and I'm just worried my Billy Elliot section will have too specific a question or worse a quote that we need to base our essay on.
Specific questions are actually easier; just be flexible with how you interpret the question so that you can make it work for your prepared materials. Don't think that a key word or quote limits you...see what ideas could relate to the quote and then connect it to the more general ideas that you want to explore!
@@jeddle Thanks for the reply, yep well for example ive got Billy Elliot, my essay is based on barriers and self perception. i feel like its broad enough to incorporate most question which im preety happy with. i got an 80 overall in trials the section 1 of paper 1 being the main stress so im focussing on that today as paper 1's tomorrow
What do you guys recommend for ts Eliot? theres multiple poems and any of them can be specifically asked for in the exam, I have the resources aswell so if this info is there and im missing it please lmk. thanks
I would definitely advise for THREE primary poems (one in each paragraph). You can make the occasional reference/connection to an additional poem in those paragraphs if appropriate. You should be familiar with a couple of quotes/techniques from the poems you don’t use as primary poems in your essay just in case a particular poem is asked.
