Well I wanted to say "Thanks for the help". I modified my 5BTV antenna taking pointers from your video. Got it together and went to the shack and made my first 17m contact with a fellow in Arizona, not too bad from NW Ohio. 73, N8QES.

I came across your video and wanting to add another band without buying another antenna. I tried your setup for 6m and after a couple adjustments of the wire, getting between 1.2 and 1.4 across the 6m band. Nice. As you stated, it changed the other bands SWR a little, but nothing bad). Thanks for the video

I know this is an old video but just did the same thing to my 4BTV and it worked like a champ. Now looking at adding 6m and maybe 12.

Very nice add on to your vertical. You might want to talk about your ground radial for the antenna system. How many, how long, etc., that’s always good to know. On another subject: I built a 40 meter QCX cw transceiver last week for QRP Labs. John you got to get one, thing is, as the kids say is awesome. The 20 meter kit arrived last week and the case for it should be here around the middle of Aug. $49.00 plus shipping, only one band but the little rig is loaded with features. A must have for your collection.

Been a little too hot in the shop lately. Cool weather gets here sometime around late October. I've go two lightening arrestors in the coax, both going to common ground. ~John

I am building a vertical and my standoff brackets are plastic shelves brackets, it will be patterned after the DX commander. I do like you modified conduit idea, if I had the tools to build things with. Did you get rid of the MFJ vertical you had with the coil?

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the MFJ was left behind in a move. Actually regret selling it since it is a pretty good antenna, especially for portable use.

Jerome, tuning was not affected at all. The HB4-TV has traps that can be adjusted if needed. However, retuning was not required when I completed this mod. 73/John
