@KevinStratvert Hi there. I am very much impressed with your videos that how you contribute your knoelwdge. I have 1 question if I want to create a leader score board or like performance wise ranking scoreboard. How will I able to create that while using SharePoint and get it updated automatically?
Kevin! I have taken you as my inspiration to teach teachers! Being a mom of 2 boys and with full-time job I never knew I would enjoy making videos. But after you left Microsoft and started working on your channel, I realized I could use that spirit as well. I have come out of my comfort zone and started making my own videos. So thank you for doing what you doing. I already have 180 subscribers. You are my new Guru!
Kevin, you said this will only work for E3 and E5 subscriptions. I don't have E3/E5 but I do have a Business subscription and I separately have desktop Office applications via a 365 Home subscription. Will this work?
I normally watch your Teams videos ... but I LOVED this and want to add this functionally for my school!! Video suggestion: I often see “run a share point script” with an idea.... but I’ve never used it and don’t know how! You touched on it in this video, but maybe a video on installing, logging in and applying scripts to powershell would be a super useful video!
Great Video. I am going to try this tonight. You asked for some ideas on other videos to make. One thing I would like to be able to do is add a folder of URL's of key websites to Microsoft Edge for all of our employees. This is similar to having templates in Word, PPPT and Excel that are available to all employees except that it would be a folder of URL's for key websites for our employees.
We did this and it's populated to the desktop Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Does it work with the on the web apps other than Powerpoint? Powerpoint on the web is the only one showing the templates after 1.5 weeks of creating the Office Templates. Discussion threads mention this same thing about only seeing it on Powerpoint on the web and not Word or Excel on the web.
Wonderful tutorial! This is going to be very useful for me. I work at university that has many faculties and departments. Do you know if there’s an option to push these templates to only certain people / different templates for different departments? (yes, we have SharePoint sites for every department and permissions set to certain people using distribution lists. Or it just works for the whole organization? Thanks in advance!
Great video Kevin! I wonder if the CDN policy needs to include any template extensions... if you run "Get-SPOTenantCdnPolicies -CdnType Private" in your working environment; do you see the dotx and potx extensions?. Thanks!
Hey Kevin, Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for your great content. But for clarification as I am ready correctly, you only need an E3 and E5 license to use it for the web application. As far as I'm concerned for the desktop application other licenses will be ok as well? "For the organization assets library to appear to a user in PowerPoint on the web, the user must be assigned a license to Office 365 E3 or E5. Users who use the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint desktop app also need Microsoft 365 Apps Version 2002 or later. (The organization assets library is not available in Word on the web or Excel on the web.)"
Really clear - thanks. 1. Is this still the best way to bring branded templates to all users? 2. Any idea of progress for this feature for Online licence holders (eg F3)
It was perfect, any idea how to integrate also "Theme/standards colors" to word and powerpoint doc that matches the branding of the company? Thank you very much for all your videos, very helpful and inspirationnal!
Great instruction! Thank you. I keep bumping into limitations b/c we don’t have E3 licenses. Sure wish there were a good list of these types of capabilities to help justify the added expense of E3. Video idea suggestion: how to deploy Excel add-ins to organization?
Hey Jim - thanks for the note! Push your sales contact to get you a list :) Ultimately marketing should be able to provide. One thing to note - Microsoft is adding more and more functionality into E3 to justify the added cost, this being one of the first features where Microsoft tiered functionality on the web. I'll add your video suggestion to my list. Thanks!
Thanks, Kevin. Our sales rep is working on it. It will be interesting to see if the rep identifies the undocumented items (as nearly as I can tell) that we’ve encountered. I appreciate your insight into the increasing value of E3. Starting to look like my decision will be to pull the trigger on that.
Hi Kevin, nice tutorial. Thank you! I tried applying it for Word template but my colleagues could not find the Word template. It worked great though with the Powerpoint template. Any ideas why it didn't show for Word online? I tried saving it as .dotx and .docx
Thank you so much for this tutorial! It's exactly what we were looking for. We tried it out and it works perfectly in our virtual desktop environment, local apps, and PowerPoint online, but it's not working in Word or Excel online. I've waited 48 hrs for it to show up. Is there some extra step to make it show up in Word or Excel online? Thank you.
When I left Microsoft two years ago, Excel hadn’t implemented this yet and Word had a bug. This could still be the state. If you reach out to your account manager, ask if they can put you in touch with the product managers for those teams. They can tell you the current state. Hope that helps!
Thx Kevin! Could you please run a tutorial on Sharepoint vs OneDrive usage for my organization?? Which one should we use? For what purpose is better one or the other?? Thx in advance! ADL
Thanks a lot for sharing this tutorial on Template Repository. I just installed the Online SharePoint Powershell module but it seems that the command Add-SPOOrgAssetsLibrary is not available anymore. Tried to update module but still no luck. Can you help me with this one?
Late to the party here, is there a way to set a default template to be used within PowerPoint / Word Web Apps? Also, i cant seem to get this to work in the Web Apps. Feel like theres a bit of a big gap here.
Hi Kevin, I followed your all steps but no luck, I also checked after 24 hours but same issue. when I used your steps then it show success but Template folder is not visible on word, excel, power point and Pin. only it show on SharePoint local sync folder. Please suggest how can I resolve this issue.
Hello Kevin, I already added a template to SharePoint and action like you on this video. And run the script in SharePoint Online Management, everything is fine, but I still didn't see the template Powerpoint for both the Desktop application and the Web version. Could you help me? Tks a lot.
Is there a way to add the templates to the web app versions as well or is it only via Sharepoint for those? Kind of silly for MS to miss that in the web apps.
Hello thank you for your video, it's really helpful.. one request.. can you put up something and create video.. for people who are using office 2013.. but when we upgrade to Microsoft 365.. what is new in it .. and what are the updated.. thank you sir
Great video! Do you know of any way to do the same thing for images....like from within PowerPoint? So, when you open up Home/Insert Pictures/Online Pictures... it will list your company directory to pick logos from in addition to other online sources?
Thanks much for this video, but this is only working for me the global admin of the SharePoint repository. The members i added it works for them in the cloud side but locally on office 365 clients it doesn't show even after 24 hours? do i make the members owners?
Great video and interesting topic. Good luck to you on your new endeavor. In excel if a program adds products to waste every month, and you have an excel spreadsheet of this from Jan thru May and one from Jan thru July how do you subtract the one spreadsheet from the other to figure out what was wasted in June and July? Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, i have a quick question, so i got a laptop yo film my gaming videos but i didint activate windows, im too scaird to because if i activate it and if my laptop breaks, i cant fix it, i know that because it happend to me befor, so what is ur opinion on it, should i turn it on?
I have a simple question to those who know what they are at but for me; it's been a complicated one. When designing a powerpoint that I have for subscription customers, how do I upload it to the paid Subscription URL as Wordpress only allows very small files to be uploaded directly. I need to figure this out in how they can download their purchase. Are you able to help?
nice video, unfortunatelly Microsoft is making things worst and more complicated at each new release. It was so much easyer on office 2010. Now it sucks
Hey Bill - You can specify up to 30 organization asset libraries for a single organization. You can use permissions on those libraries so only certain departments have access. All of these libraries (regardless of type) must be on the same site. Only libraries (not folders) can be set as organization asset libraries. Here's more info: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/organization-assets-library
Kevin Cooke Company is a fictitious cookie company...fictitious for now!!! And that rogue employee - yikes!! What were they thinking? All kidding aside - great video - did not know about this feature
Templates in a SharePoint- Subscribe to the File location so the location is linked to Outlook (desktop). use the link to the file to launch a new document based on any of the templates. Templates in a Network Location? Put a shortcut to the network share in the folder where your personal templates are stored. Set the personal templates folder through the Options settings. No E3 or E5 or SharePoint Admin required.
Unfortunately the functionality doesn't yet exist. Now that SharePoint houses these templates though, Teams would need to integrate this functionality. A lot of the underlying service work is already done to support something like this. I'm not sure where something like this sits on their backlog. Some third parties, like OfficeatWork provide this functionality today.
Thx Kevin. The upload template function in SP is simple. Does this make the template available to site members or just to you and who you share it with? The upload template isn’t available in Teams. Frustrating when these tools are meant to work with each other.
Dear Kevin I'm haveing an issue that I need some sort of help with. I have some names in a list that I wanna make a sheet on Excel (or Access) that shows the arraival time of the employees I do this EVERY MONTH and I know that there is a way to take the name from the list and build a sheet with this name ALONE along with these data. Can you Please make a RU-vid Video that shows this issue? Thanks in advance
You can use custom fonts in the templates but you either need to have already on the machine or embed them in the file. Embedding fonts massively increases file size.
Not to be negative but I shouldn't have to find a video about how to do this. We have A5 and A3 licenses. We also have Google Workspace. To add a template in that environment, I navigate to the template gallery and click the 'Submit a template' button. MS really has to make things simpler.
Thank you Kevin, great video. Are you able to restrict permissions for sub folders , for example hr templates, or contracts? Or should we setup different repositories in different teams ?
Great video. Have you done a video(s) on using custom color themes and palettes? I think that would be a great topic as it relates to branding using company colors!
Is there a way to set up SharePoint Online Management Shell on a mac? Or is there a way around to add a branded PPT template on SharePoint without using SharePoint Online Management Shell?
Great work Kevin! Are templates supposed to show up in Word for the web too or just the Word client/app? It shows in PowerPoint for the web but not in Word for the web.
The Powershell keeps saying an error about "all but external users" must have read access to the document library (it is in Finnish so I translated it roughly here). The account I am using to perform the operation is Global Administrator and also Owner of the Site and the Library. The "all but external users" seems like a classic sharepoint preset group, and I found it and it has no internal editable information.
Quick question, would people with no permission to the sharepoint / library be able to use the templates. Better yet, can I segregate the usage of templates to certain groups of people?
Kevin I have really enjoyed all your videos and hope your new endeavor is going well. This last one is exactly what we need after our new branding went live, so I'm looking forward to implementing it. I would love to see more videos regarding the SharePoint modern experience. For instance, how would I add access to these templates to the "New" drop-down when creating a new doc/workbook/presentation in a SP document library?
Thank you for the Video. My issue is, that this templates are only available in PowerPoint (Online + Client) and they are not available in Word or Excel - is it only available for PowerPoint? Solved: I had to wait more than 24 hours :-)
