One trick from fine art sketching that I brought with me to photography and photoshop manipulation to understand direction of light is to start with one direction and work through the entire image. So if the light is coming from the top right, I'll start by adding shadows the the left side of everything, vertically, and then move to adding shadows beneath everything horizontally. Personally, I find this helps prevent missing areas, as you move through the entire image focusing only on one specific plane at a time.
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Ricardo Kylo Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I think that this is best video for a beginner like me. I did not have a clue as to how to create nice shadows and highlights, but now i have an idea. Keep up the good work brother and bring more videos like this.
Video was really hepful. Just keep in mind that is a LOT easier and time saving to clip solid color layer to the subject layer if the color is leaking. That way you can just paint over the subject and the background but the color will still remain only on the subject because it's clipped to him.
Wow, one of the best Tutorials on youtube, thanks for going to so much detail with the homework file. Made it very easy to follow, learned a lot. thanks again mate
@Encreate Great Tutorial!!! Little tip from Photography, add 1px Gaussian Blur and 1px Noise to everything that has been painted, it will make a huge difference in Realismn. :) Love your Videos
I don’t know the reason why you don’t have many subscribers, but I do know the reason why you have a like from me(and a sub), and from anyone who just watches your video, because you act like a teacher, after giving us the “tutorial” you also give us a homework with that projects we can use.
@@Encreate i have one question sir how we can easly find the perspectivly light for creating the realistic highlights sometimes we create we dont where we put the highlights or not plz gimme some tips but by the way really learn fro this video Thnku so much
Hi there! I have a few complete manipulation tutorials. You can check them here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jn6fB35Bp8A.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eCsV_8KR3DM.html But unfortunately they are one of my least popular videos 😅 As for highlights on a rough stone, the same technique in this video should work. You just need to play a bit more with the Blend-If section to see what settings best reveal the underlying details. Hope this help 👍
color fill in linear dodge blend mode + Blend IF gives a better result than Colorize + Blend IF method that Benny Productions Uses. Ah well I guess it boils down to which one suits your workflow better
I saw your "Turn day into night" video and tried to do it with this robot. But I have some troubles with subject and background. How did you keep subject color (red or yellow) and turn the background to so blue like this. Did you use some mask or something? Help me pls and thank you so much for your video
Hi! I have one quick question. I have seen other youtubers/videos (like benny productions) use hue/sat layers for highlights instead of solids. Is there a scenario where you should be using one or the other?
Yes, correct! Since there are multiple ways in Photoshop which will give you the same the result, you can use any one of the methods in which you feel comfortable. I also use the hue/sat layers when the highlight is not that strong. Because increasing the lightness in hue/sat can wash out the colors. So for strong colored highlights I use solids. But I switch between them often. Hope I could answer you correctly.
Thank u Indro, some tutorials u used the black layer in linear dodge clipped to the subject and then using the brush to paint the color highlight in...is that another method one can use besides this one?
Thanks for asking, Sarah! Yes both of them use the same underlying logic and will give you the same results. I used that as I had to paint with multiple light colors. If I were to use this Solid Color Fill method, then I needed to clip each color fill layer in that color of the light. So I did it like that on a layer filled with black to speed it up. You can use any one of the two. Although Solid Color Fill will give you better flexibility as you would be able to change the color after you paint the highlights. Hope this helps :)
@@Encreate i understand! for some reason, i feel the black layer in linear dodge and painting over it with whatever color u wish seems brighter. But i could be wrong. However, u are right, the solid fill method has more flexibility to change the colors. thank u for introducing this method!
@@sarahc.5191 Sure Sarah! Please go ahead with whichever method you feel more comfortable with. In PS, there is no right or wrong method. It's the end result that matters. You can definitely follow the black layer in linear dodge :)
@@Encreate i learnt that from u and mr 23...before this, i have always just painted with overlay or using the curves channel to increase the highlights then hide it with mask and then paint white to reveal the highlights. that was much easier but i am always open to learning new things. thank u very much!
@@sarahc.5191 Ah...that is something I am exploring, and will soon make a video. I just found out that the curves work the best for highlights. They are soooo natural looking. I got so excited that I keep saying that in all of my videos :)
What if colouris the subject using hue and saturation adjustment layer and then create a reverse mask after we use blend if Then start painting Will it work better ??
Hello friend I want to know when you started learning photoshop I love photoshop very much and I want to be a good designer like you. I started learning Photoshop three months ago, I don't study at any institution I watch photoshop tutorial videos on RU-vid and learn photoshop. It's been a month since I've been watching your videos. I like your videos very much. Friend, the question for you was, did you learn Photoshop at any institution? and how long have you been learning Photoshop? Please answer me.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your interest in my content and I am glad to know that you like them! :) Well, I self learned Photoshop mostly from RU-vid and self experimentation. But I have been using Photoshop for more than 10 years now. To answer your question, no I didn't learn at any institution, it is all self taught. I hope this helps you :) Let me know if you have any other questions. Best regards
The best Highlights video I have seen Cingrats Encreate, your creations are amazing Love your work and I get inspired with all your videos. Thanks for the Inspiration!!!
Great vid, btw how u get your images soo clear, mine are so pixelated and also whenever I try highlighting, it highlights the whole thing not like a line, what am I doing wrong?
How does this only have 120 views?!?!?!?!? I’m very grateful for people like yourself giving the time to pass on your knowledge. It was a great tutorial, please keep it up. Your going to be big one day!
If you need thoughts on what to do next. I would really appreciate a video on how to match levels for composites and making them look like they belong together. That is something I really struggle with but your Halloween & the day to night videos made me look like a pro (if you would go that far haha).
Thank you so much for your kind words and appreciation! Means a lot! 😄 I really hope the video helped you in some way! Thanks again for your support! 👍
That's really nice of you to give me ideas for my next video. I will definitely see what I can do. Please keep suggesting! By the way, if I read it correctly, did my Halloween and day to night videos help you in some way? That would be really cool! Glad to know that!
@@Encreate yes! They helped massively. I tried to follow speed arts by slowing them down. But I could not grasp it. Your videos teaching us how to turn the bright daylight photos to the dark night vibe was fantastic. Glad I could speak to you before you become big. I’m sure you won’t have the time to reply to thousands of comments in a years time. 😂
Thank you so much! Feels great to know my videos helped you 👍 Well, I never know if I will ever be big, and yes it will be too big of a promise if I say I can reply to all the comments, but I will definitely try my best to help out and reply 😄 It's nice to meet you 💪
Indro! First of all, thank you so much for taking into consideration all the comments and suggestions on what tutorial to make next! 🙏🏻 I’m grateful for creating this video, my creative life has become so much easier 😁 Very much necessary with great tips and tricks! Thank you again for the job you do 🙏🏻 I will definitely recommend this tutorial to everyone.
That is so kind of you! I am really glad you liked it! 😄 Thank you so much for your constant appreciation. I don't think I can do it without the support from everyone of you 🙏👍
