Are your macrame cords too short? Ran out before finishing your project? Here are two simple ways to continue your macrame cord when you run out too soon, using square knots. At 01:27 I explain how you can continue your cords when both of your working cords are too short and at 05:57 what to do when just one of your cords is too short.
In my blog at curiouscraftst... you can find out more details, images and written explanation on how to continue your cords when they are too short.
For this tutorial I used Macralabs 4mm single strand cord. You can contact them at www.instagram....

Hi and thank you so much for the lovely and enthusiastic comment! ❤️ This made my Monday morning! I do really care about the teaching! ❤️❤️❤️ I haven't been posting too much on RU-vid lately, all because I've launched an online macrame membership where I post two new tutorials every month. If you're interested have a looksie here: www.macramemakers.club. I hope I get some time soon to make some more RU-vid videos too! 😅 Love from Vienna!

Thanks so much for the helpful tips! Especially tucking the leftover ends through the knots already made at the back, seems like a much more secure method than simply cutting them short and "dabbing a bit of glue" as so many other videos like to say!

Amazing - thank you!! 😂😂 I like nub and bump! Maybe bumb better as many non-native English speakers might not understand what is a nub. 😅 Thank youuuuu!

Thank you! I’ve run into this problem a couple of times so this is very helpful. I’m thinking you mean tapestry needle instead of knitting needle? But I’m not against using some pliers either!
@MacrameMakersClub
@MacrameMakersClub 4 месяца назад
Hiii, I'm glad to hear that! I guess a knitting needle can be the same as tapestry needle? I only knit, I don't do tapestry really, so I'm used to calling these big needles knitting needles. 😅

Very helpful! I'm working on my very FIRST macrame project EVER (except for one macrame feather that I made to attach to a rope Mirror that I made,) but I have about 40-45 larks head knots (pairs of strings) going on my piece and I'm making up everything as I go in order to learn ALL that I can on this one (1st) "tutorial" piece if you will... I'm going to gift it to my best friend when done, but can't wait to get to the next project already... Your tutorial has helped me with my first issue... THANK YOU!

this is just a suggestion that might help your videos easier for your viewers to see. Your background is white, the pole is white, your cord is white, the cord you add is white. It's very difficult to be able to see any definition when everything is white on white. If you had used a colored cord it would be easy to see against a white background. If the cord you added was a different color than the color you started with it would be easy for the viewer to see what you're doing. I see this so many times in macrame instruction books. The macrame is white and put upon a white wall. You can't see it. Take a look at your video on adding cord to your square knot video and you might see what I mean.

Hi, can you demonstrate how you would add cord when doing 1/2 square knots?
@MacrameMakersClub
@MacrameMakersClub Год назад
Hi Kim! Thanks for the comment. That's a little trickier, but not impossible if you're making spiral chains (many half knots in a row). A single half knot doesn't really hold on it's on, but if you make them into a chain they do hold. I'll put the idea on my list of tutorials to make, thanks!

I haven't tried to continue cord with that knot but I'm sure there's a way. Will need to figure it out!

Surely its easier to lock those short ends into the back of your project as you continue to tie your knots.
@MacrameMakersClub
@MacrameMakersClub Год назад
Hi Col! Sure you can do that too, but I would leave at least one of the cord ends to be locked under the knots above your cord addition so your work won't get chunky. I think this is the easiest and the least complicated way to add cord for a beginner macrame maker, and once you get better at knotting you can of course "multitask" and hide at least one cord end as you're knotting. 💛
