Yes if you have, for example, a very loose, wobbly cymbal but you want a subtle sizzle effect, installing rivets right at the edge might not be the best idea due to the amount of movement, so perhaps there's a spot a few inches in which isn't wobbling quite so much? Sometimes the difference is negligible, depending on the cymbal and what you're hoping to achieve, but it's worth taking a minute or two to consider.

These are brass plated steel. Cotter keys would be worth trying, not sure the shape of them would provide enough sizzle, but maybe with some manipulation! Split pins (stationery supplies) can work well too, and are very easy (& cheap) to add and remove.

Good question! I'm afraid I don't remember but I'd recommend 2mm. Smaller is good but they snap easily if you overdo the pressure, risking scratching the cymbal.

@@Collingwoodcymbals size of the drill you used is a 3/8"

@@robertbihn3005 3/8” is huge. My drill stops at 1/4”. He says 4mm in the video which is 5/32”

Yeah lots of different ways to do it, but it really doesn't need to be a time-consuming job!
