Excellent presentation, by far the best I have found. Well done. Most bike shop mechanics do not know how to install slime. Neither did I. I only wish I had found your video before I went out and bought new Presta tubes (with removable cores). At least I now know the simple work around tubes with non-removable cores found on most Presta tubes. Thank you.

Thanks for the excellent and informative video - I’m fed up with getting punctures on my emtb so now I know how to do it I’m off to add some slime into the inner tubes!

Got it on the bikes and used it for years on motorbikes. Only thing with motorbikes is out of balance if there’s too much in- especially fronts! Good demo , as I’ve ended up with Presta on my daily- ride.
I swear by the stuff just like you. I always had Puncture Safe in my motorcycle tyres and never had a flat although I could see signs it had been triggered showing I would have had a flat. Also with a motorbike if your somewhere remote when you get that puncture you could very well be in big trouble. Who wants to leave their pride and joy motorcycles in a remote location while you go walking miles for a mobile signal and to get help!. Also it would hopefully assist to some degree with a major puncture that could deflate dangerously quick and at least slow it while you safely come to a controlled stop. I see MINI supply it in their cars to avoid the spare wheel. I think the only complaint I had was when my motorcycle tyre wore out and the garage had a paddy saying the sealant made it really difficult to change the tyre and created a mess for them.
@@CoatsandGaiters I ride my Triumph 1200 with a kit which contains the rubber mushroom pellets and a gun to insert them. Its got me out of trouble a few times. I rode for about 12 years on 'company-supplied BMW GSA's'' . Slime used to be my chosen brew, but an incident on the trusty R1 nearly had me off it. On a push bike, even my bikes, i dont ride fast enough for it to be a problem. It does save ruining thos freshy purchased PlanetX gloves !
@@patrickjmorgan you've had some nice bikes there I see. Did you do much in the off road / adventure side of things? You had both extremes with the R1 also for serious speed in comparison. I had the Honda ST1300 with the infamous weave it sometimes showed. I believe some police bikers refused them for being dangerous. One thing that did disappoint me with the Honda was the quality of the metal work. The aluminium parts were flaking all over and I used to rinse my bike down after rides. We also had the BMW 1200LT which was a gorgeous machine to ride, especially in winter. I did love the BMW's though when I tested the 1150RT which I really liked I had an issue with the vibration through the handlebars all the time. So tried the K1200GT and really loved that. So for me I wanted the 1150RT bike but fitted with their 4 cylinder engine. The LT was a bit too much of a beast really but did have the smoother 4 cylinder engine so no vibration at all.
@@CoatsandGaiters Mark- No, I hate the thought of falling off! Ive still got the Triumph (its my 2nd 1200 but not my 2nd Triumph) and ive still got he R1 as it was my first ever BN bike back in 2001 . I also have a 400/4. I owned a CBR1000 for a a few years and various others since my bike test in early 70's. Like most men, I took an 'enforced' break from biking for various reasons- kids, lack of money- but got one back i the garage about 30 years ago and never been without one since. (Sadly, I cant post snaps as YT doesnt permit). I am a Consultant eng. and back in the early 2000's, me and another engineer mentioned to our employer- 'Why not company bikes?'- as he had berrated us for riding in all weathers. So, he trialed one, then I got offered the same- So, I had the best of all worlds, a car allowence and a bike. I benefitted from that for 12 years, racked up 1K's miles . The ownside is of course that you cant say 'Im not coming in cos it s too cold'- So rode the 100-mile return every day, all weathers.I also rode all over the country and it became a benefit for the clients i had, Thats how I got GSA's. They are the Best at what they are designed to do. I couldnt afford to buy my own BN when the benefit expered (he sold the Company to TUV-SUD) so I bought my first Tiger 1200 and now im on my 2nd.
@@patrickjmorgan Sounds like you've had a pretty interesting career with some great perks Patrick. You've ridden a lot then. I've messaged you on E bikes on your channel as I suspected you might know a thing or two about your subjects. Riding in winter can be horrendous on a motorbike but not on the 1200LT. Your perfectly dry, warm and cosy. Heated seats as well. Did love that bike. The GS always looks so much fun though. I think The Long Way Round must have increased the sales on the GS. A family member has them and has done some adventures on them and he swears by them and like you rode huge distances on them with no issues.

Thank you. Sadly no video but I used to cycle a lot in winter after hedges were cut and I often pulled thorns out and the Slime sealed. I no longer cycle but I wouldn’t without it. It does work.
Use pliers to crimp the tip of the screw thread of the core, to create a new crimp to replace the crimp you had earlier filed off, to stop the nut from falling off.
Aaaaahhh, okay... now were did I leave that odd Clothes line pin I had laying around? I've got new Conti Tubes that need Slime and installed in my new TopContact II's(47-622's). 😁
Hi great video! Very well explained. The issue I've got is I've got a tubeless tyre where the pesto valve will not unscrew. So how do I put in the slime? Your help & advice would be appreciated 👍
Thank you. I'm not quite with you. I thought I showed how to do those in the video by filing the top of the thread away and dropping the valve into the inner tube?
If you have slime in a tube tire, and you inflate it, but later on i want to go off road and i need to let some air out, if I push down on the the valve to let air out will the slime shoot out and clog the stem? Are you basically stuck will whatever pressure you inflated to first time.
Why do yoy remove the inner tube? You can remove the valve and put the sealant in "the six position". More simple end quick. The result is the same. I do it for a couple of years with brilliant results.

@@CoatsandGaiters problem with metal on metal rims is it scratches the paint . I ordered some plastic levers . The shipping cost more than the levers . But I can't get tools here on this island .
Just shows what an awful design those presta valves are. They've let me down so many times. As for tyre sealants; I've always found they get under the Schrader valve seats And cause a slow release of air. My preferred solution is just Marathon Plus tyres. Thank you for the compliment. Your right the fibre material does pose that risk. I presume blowing the valve with air after should clear and but not always 100%
i dont need to be told how to put goo in a tube . ...does it work ? my tube costs $3.60 . but flats leave me stranded so any one with real life experience ?
I have plenty of real life experience. Used to cycle 10 miles every day and come September I would collect at least one or two thorns in my tyres and I'd just pull the thorns out and carry on the next day. It definitely works and they are not sponsoring me.
@@CoatsandGaiters thanks . i get pin holes not sure why . maybe pinched on the rim . there are some big holes in busted up concrete roads here and sometimes filled with 2 inch sharp rocks as a attempt to smooth ot out .{ yeah doesn't work } i have put a old tube on the new tube for more protection . ,but the other day i got a finishing nail in the tire . there is no slime available here ,but a different brand for tubeless motorcycle tires . that might work .
@@boracay12 I've never had pin holes, are you using a branded innertube as the quality can vary a lot. Is the innertube the right size for the tyre or being overinflated to compensate? Slime or this type of sealant will work on punctures but I'd want to know why I'm getting pin holes in the first place as it's going to make the job of slime unnecessarily harder. I did do a video showing the tyres I use as I swear by continentals and they also have some puncture protection built in. The slime then kicks in with the bigger thorns and glass. That's a point have you checked the inside of the tyre for glass powder etc that might be in there. Is the inside of the tyre nice and smooth and clean?
@@CoatsandGaiters If anything ,it's overinflation . Pin hole as in one small hole ,often on the lower side . This is the Philippines so what ever tube is on hand . Nothing you have heard of . And the same with the tire sealant . It's gooey of course and has small bits in it as it's designed for tubeless motorcycle and car tires I have been cutting a used tube to use as a extra layer of protection and not inflating the tube to the maximum allowed rating in the tire . The back tire is a maxxis . The front some off brand . ( I like the tread on it ) Part of the problem was my gauge was under reading ..I checked it against 2 others to confirm . I will probably put in some of that sealent tomorrow just for added protection . It can't hurt
Why didn't you title this, How to ruin a tube? Slime desolve the glue of a patch, even their own brand of scabs will fall of in minutes of inflation. You are paying extra to make you tire unfixable.
Thank you for the comment and sorry to hear you've had issues with your repair patches. I've not experienced issues with patches so maybe it can vary between different brands. Admittedly it's a lot harder to repair as you have to ensure no trace of slime is on the area being glued. The slime can make life trickier I do agree but it does get you home.
I found it worked fantastically well. I had loads of punctures and the slime was totally effective. I no longer cycle but if I did I always put slime in the tyres.
