I know you did this video a while ago, but I just wanted to say that your instruction on how to do this operation was so easy to follow and understand. Some people just know how to instruct and you have that gift. Thank you for this video. I'm hoping you do more of these in the future.
Very good tutorial I understood everything, other people go fast to pretend they are so intelligent , and one can not learn from those people. You have a gift for teaching.
PLEASE make more instructional videos !!! Your teaching style in SUPERB ! Just any instructional video with Fusion 360. You could surpass Lars. How about making a couple of beginner videos. Like I said your teaching style is wonderful and the teaching video software you have is PERFECT.
I´ve watched a bunch of videos on how to do this in the last couple of days. I could not get it right the way I wanted until youtube suggested your video. THANKS!
I spent a few hours figuring out a workaround for this... came up with a method similar to yours, thought it was sooooo great I made a "how-to video" ; was about to upload it, then I saw your video. Thanks. :P
I had so much trouble with this! I kept getting error messages and I followed the video exactly. After some google searching I found that some fonts don't work for extrude/emboss (a bug apparently) Changed to arial and had no problems, tried on all the examples in the video. thx for the vid btw, was super informative.
I was looking to do this yesterday on a cylinder but had to settle on a flat surface. It adds lots of material to my print and I was not happy. Finding this video makes it super easy and I am going back to my original design for a cylinder form with Text. Thanks very much 3D Bunny
Great video,Thank you Bunny. Very nice explanation, You made me understand what I was looking for all day. I encourage doing it again. I'll be waiting.
Very nice and clear explanation, I also learned shortcuts in the process! I assume you have 3D print running in the background, have you consideren reducing the gain of your audio, so we only hear your voice? That would be the cherry on top :)
More tutorials PLEASE you produced one of the most informative tutorials I have seen on Fusion 360. Well done no silly male gimmicks just good technique. From a bit of a Neanderthal male, Keep up the good work, and let us all enjoy some more.
Great video but, It would really help if you posted a video showing how to add an SVG (texture) wrap around to a hand grip shape similar to a hairdryer where none of the grip is the same profile or os made up of multiple faces.
I was able to emboss on to the sphere. You have to create a cylinder over the sphere, emboss on the cylinder, go back to when you extruded the cylinder and change it to intersect then hide the cylinder.
Your explanation in this video is astounding! As much as I love embossing stuff, I'm having a bit of a problem with one particular project. What's the best method of embossing a conical shape without having the text distorted or looking like a frowny face? I'm making a custom Bowling Ball Holder that is a cylinder 20mm thick with a -25˚ draft from base to outside surface and I want to put someone's name wrapped around the whole thing but the only method I've found to make it work is to draft every single letter and hole within each letter (like the letter o) individually after the emboss has been done and the initial draft operation is complete.
If you put the text on a circular path with the center on the top of the cone, your text will be distorted in such a way that the emboss distorts it back to what you are looking for. This video uses this trick for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aRL9OmR70R4.html&ab_channel=Murxs1st
Great video I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. If you get a chance I'll take you up on your offer of making a video about doing this with logos and such. 😉 Thanks again.
How can I use the emboss tool for doing gun grips. I have made my grips but it will not let me select the top face of my grips. I can select any other face but the top.
How do you get the text to print on top layer only, instead of the printer wrapping around the text and messing up the top layer. I used to be able to print a flat smooth surface and then the next layer would print the text, now it joins with the top layer so it prints around the text thus making the top layer not smooth
try it from the inside to the outside... extrude from the inside pane to object.... easy as that... in the current version of fusion 360 that you have you can even use TEXT ON PATH... and the path is up to your imagination...
Hi. How can we get the emboss that’s not distorted, but keep the text as a separate body so I can export and print it in two colors, with the cylinder being one color and the text another color? Thanks!
I would slice the body ("split body" in Fusion360) where the emboss meets the main body, that will separate the text from the body and can therefore be printed separately
I made this video on a whim, thinking "hey i could be a youtuber", then after putting it all together I got embarrassed and decided not to post it. Logged out of my account, and forgot anything happened. Little did I know, it actually posted and didn't save to drafts like I thought it did. 1 year later I needed a refresher on how to add text on a surface in fusion360 and I end up finding my own video from google. Extra embarrassing. Was going to delete this video, but looks like it was quite helpful for a lot of people, so it's stayin! @@printing3d722
