Hi, Guys! I own 2014 Toyota prius And always thought it's inconvenient to use the port from middle console. I had a big reason to add one on driver side. I'd like to Share how. Let's check it out!
How did you decide which side of the fuse is the current-in side and which side is the current-out? of course the usb wire should be connected to the current-out side of the fuse.
@@cheapcharliedoinghisownthings It does matter! If you connect your wire to the wrong side you are bypassing the fuse. You should still let the fuse do its work otherwise you do not even need any fuse at all. Just connect it directly to the box!
@@paulcamalin5236 you make a good point, however in this particular case it won’t make much difference. Firstly, it appears he added his own fuse (which is presumably more appropriately rated). Secondly, as the fuse in the box is rated at 15A the USB ports would let the magic smoke out long before that fuse batted an eyelid 😄
@@cheapcharliedoinghisownthings 답변 감사합니다. 전 헤드유닛을 교체하고 거기에서 나오는 USB로 연결할 거라서 전원을 따로 가지고 올 필요는 없을 것 같아요. 제가 궁금한 건 혹시 파워 밑의 커버가 다른 용도로 사용못하게 되어있는게 아닌가 였는데 다행히 blank cover만 떼어내면 가능한가 보네요.
I would probably not connect it to the fuse box, if any surges goes wrong and the internal fuse from the wire doesnt work, at least there would be a back up. Just tap into the cigarette lighter and connect it and that should work out way better.
