YASS THANK YOU! Life saver. So. Easy. I ended up adding both my formal full name signature and my quick signature and then decided to also add just my initials for documents that require initialing. So. Easy. Thank you. Still helping people 4 years later! :)
Thanks, I just tried this today and although the icons in preview are different after five years, I got it to work first time. That almost never happens with me. One "like" doesn't seem enough, I am very grateful for the clarity of this video.

This does work. This is 2019. You can also sign on the track pad as well as using the camera. Also if you have Adobe PDF reader this has its own signing process - if you have a graphics tablet this gives the best results.
This is a cool trick, but my Preview shows something with a trackpad and a camera and it didn't seem to work. I have a Mac Air running 10.11.1. Can you help?
This solution creates a much larger problem of its own. The signature is added as a copiable image to the PDF page. Thus the recipient can now simply right click and copy your signature to add to their document.
I am working on an Affidavit to get my new iPhone, and the instructions simply say to print it out and sign it. I do not have a printer, but would it be illegal to use digital signature on it? Please help as soon as anybody can.

hi! my mac version is a 10.9. I have already created a signature using your method, however, the "sig" doesn't show up on my edit tool bar so I have no idea how to add it onto my file :(
Is there any way to print a .pdf file in Apple environment? I have tried it before but in vain. When I open a .pdf file, there no icon that allows me to print the document on a printer. Could you please help me with that? Thanks!
You are showing the document in which signature menu is available. If such menu is not available then how to do it? For creating signature an app is required. Tell me how to add signature in email.
