Adding Firebase can be a bit of a pain. Let's take the pain together and let me show you how I go about adding it to a brand new project. Sorry about the microphone, I should get a decent one!
Hi, I created a firebase app, but I think firebase has changed since you created the video, and I don't have the option to add an android app or ios app, so I can't find the google-services.json file. Do you know how should I do now? Thanks in advance
The written guide differs from the tutorial in that it no longer has the "apply:" line or the "reference" line. Using the current TS written guide I am getting an error when I try to initialize FB "Cannot read property firebase". Is the written guide being updated?
Are the lines below cover, for example, the references part now? >cd node_modules/nativescript-plugin-firebase >npm run setup Following along the video, by references.d.ts file did NOT have the below line so I typed it in reading from the video but am not sure if that is correct. /// It would be useful to add popup bubbles over the video "this part is done by 'npm run setup' now".
NativeScript 2.5.0 broke the postinstall script so you had to manually run the setup script as mentioned in the readme. I'm updating the plugin today so that npm run setup step will not be required when you run with anything but 2.5.0.
I also see differences in the written guide and the video tutorial. Eddy is the written tutorial being updated? I ask because one of the discrepencies I just hit trying to do the demo was video --> edits platforms/android/build.gradle written --> only mentions "build.gradle" in one spot which says ... "and making the changes to build.gradle which are mentioned above as well." build.gradle is not mentioned above , but I think there is a typo and the text that follows that has app.gradle should read build.gradle instead "Congrats, you ran into this issue which can be solved by adding multiDexEnabled true to your app/App_Resources/Android/app.gradle so it becomes ..." , but that still has __PACKAGE__ which I think is old.
Well spotted. The plugin has evolved and you no longer need to manually edit the gradle file (that was the hardest part for users to get right, so I automated that after the video was shot).
Hey Leo, I did that a long time ago so don't know the exact source, but the top hit here seems legit: www.google.nl/search?sourceid=chrome-psyapi2&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8&q=genymotion%20google%20play%20services&oq=genymotion%20google&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.4198j0j7
Eddy, Hi, I have been trying for two days to add firebase to my app with your plugin. I get this error github.com/EddyVerbruggen/nativescript-plugin-firebase/issues/326 I'm getting crazy. Please help..
Maargoed toch gelukt gelukkig, top!
