Thank you. I have a moto-jack ,not a full blown paddock but I tried your steps and loosened the chain. The showroom guys are worthless, last servicing they over tightened the chain, I loosened it myself today and did it first time in my life. Your video helped me immensely.
Please make a video on clutch cable and throttle cable replacement if possible. I searched on youtube could'nt find any such properly explained ones. Many thanks in advance
Thanks for making this video mate! Especially for mentioning how to tell if the chain is too lose or too tight by the sound of it. I've tightened mine to the spec (so I thought) and it was making screeching sounds. I'm pretty sure it's too tight for its own good.
***** Sorry for the late reply.. Thanks for watching mate! Hope you are subscribed to the channel. Hope you enjoy my other videos too. Have a nice day!
Thank you for such an informative video bro. I own a Dominar and mistakenly tightened the chain a bit too much so was confused on how to loosen the chain, and your video gave me a insight. Thank you.
Thanks a lot man. I just bought duke 390 few days back nd i am on a trip of 800 km to nd fro nd the chain has become very loose and ktm service centres are closed due to festivals nd outside no mechanic is willing to touch the bike. I ll try nd tighten it before i ride it tomorrow.
Thanks bro for such a informative video...I am also a duke 390 owner and badly suffering by this problem...i do adjust whenever its need but within a week it gone loose again and again
Thanks for the video you have showed everything good and i was worrying if i didn´t tighten the bolt holding the wheels enough but you showed how to correctly thanks:)
Anindya Kar Sorry for the late reply! Thanks for watching mate! Hope you are subscribed to the channel. Hope you enjoy my other videos too. Have a nice day!
Thanks for uploading the video..You choose the tightest point and tighten it further? Why do we have to pick the tightest point? Sorry i am new to all this but wanted to learn and hence my question might appear to be silly.
peter sudhakar Thank you peter for watching my video. We need to select the tightest point, so that, in case we select the loose point and try to tighten it, then, the tight point will get too tight. Please let me know if you have more questions. I would be glad to answer. Hope you enjoy my other videos also. Do subscribe so that you can stay updated with my new videos. My bike get stuck sometime in 3& 4th gear while giving throtel, so what will be the problem of my bike is it for changing chains sprocket or something else? I would be highly thankful if you suggest
Great video. So well explained. Think I might be able to do this now. One question. Do you loose the wheel nut on both side of the motorcycle? And one thing to mention is that the chain will be tighter when you sit on it I am told. Alexander
We need to loosen the wheel nut only on one side. Yes, you are correct, after we sit on the bike, the chain will get tighter by a little percentage. Thank you mate. Thanks for watching! Have a nice day!
#vikas I have a new 2017 ktm rc 390 which is just 2 weeks old and I'm facing vibrations from the battery cover at low rpms in 1&2 gears like at 2-4k rpm . how to fix this?
Sir there is some tak tak sound near the chain while i ride 20-30 speed in 2 nd gear slowly is there any problem when i went to ktm showroom mechanic said when u ride in low rpm it come or low rpm low gear is it true service people say it's normal when u ride in off-road
Neat video, really comprehensive, thanks for sharing, wish I had seen it earlier. My last ride from Mumbai - Goa and return, I struggled with a loose chain on the return journey, was a real bother. With a little practice and training this should be a good spot fix for anyone to carry out. 2 quick questions: 1. Not everyone will own a paddock stand, any alternate solution to how to do the same procedure without the stand? 2. Can the same operation be carried out on any chain driven bike? Thanks again, happy riding, Cheers...
Kayomarz Bacha Thank you very much for watching the video my friend and I am glad you liked the video. Yes, learning this procedure is very important for us. Will take only a little practice.. Yes, even without a Paddock stand, we can do this, we will need help of a friend to hold the motorbike and bend it towards and on to the side stand, that will lift the rear wheel up and we can do the required process... Yes, this process is almost the same on most of the motorbikes with a chain. Hope you enjoy my other videos also and hope you have subscribed to the channel. Have a nice week ahead.
Need to mention how to accurately measure the slack in the chain. With the bike on the side stand, and you push up on the bottom chain at the second support the chain should be .2-.28 inches from touching the swing arm. The chain on these bikes actually runs pretty tight I feel. (owner manual specifications)
Hi vikas, very nice video. I followed the procedure as per ur video and the KTM manual. After tightening, I have a free play of 10mm without rider. When I sit on the bike, the chain tention increases a little bit more and have a slackness of 2-3mm Is this normal?
I have ktm duke 200 and my chain is loos in some point tight in some point..... My chain is hitting swing arm as well and ..my question is can i tight chain when i have two different tight/loos point.. My doubt is, if there is a tight point in chain and i goes for tighten the chain that would affect the tighted point to more tight??
Bro recently I have gone to the track ride at Leonia. I got crashed on(KTM RC 200)my bike handle direction went wrong(IF I PUT MY HANDLE ON 90° ANGLE THE TYRE IS NOT GOING ON THE RIGHT DIRECTION IT IS MOVING TOWORDS LEFT),so could you please make a video how to adjust it correctly.
hey vikas... how do u tighten the chain guard? ... coz on my duke 390 ....while riding it.... for example if I go over a hump...or a small pot hole...or a lil bad road.... the chain guard starts vibrating a lot...!!
+pratik shankar Oh okay. I will check on that mate and update you, you are speaking about the plastic cover over the chain right? I believe it only have couple of bolts holding it. Did you try to tighten the? Do let me know. Hope you are subscribed to the channel and do enjoy my other videos too. Cheers!
Thank you very much! I bought the paddock stand from a person from Mumbai, his name is Gaurav. He makes them. His cell number is +91 89764 13804. You can call him and give my reference, he will ship the stand to you :) Hope you enjoy my other videos too and hope you are subscribed to me.
Sir my duke 250 's chain was bit loose so I asked service man to tighten it to the fullest. Later on while driving the bike I got too many vibrations on the foot peg and overall bike. Again I made the chain loose but the vibrations aren't gone. What is the solution on it? Thanks in advance.
I tightened my bikes chain its a bajaj avenger the minimum slack i left is 2.5cm and i was careful about the wheel alignment but there is a problem I don't know if it is when i turn the rear wheel slowly the chain kinda moves up and down a little bit and there is a little noise is it normal or the wheel is not properly aligned??
One question. Is it best to loosen the wheel nut before placing the bike on the paddock stand? To much force and the bike falls off? And how tight should I fasten the wheel nut after I have tightened the chain? Alex
Alexander Hauge That is a very nice question! Yes, I did exactly the same. I loosened the wheel nut just a little before placing the bike on the stand.. The proper process to tighten the wheel nut is to use a Torque Wrench, however, most of us do not own one, so I did not use that in the video. You should apply only moderate pressure on the wheel nut and feel the torque, the moment you feel it is tight enough and would not come off, you should just stop. Thank you!
Bro amazing video could your tell me plzzz I have ktm Rc 200 2800 Km in this Km there should be chnging in Air filters.....??? and i have taken 2 service but kTm service told me don't chnge it your bike is didn't run much km....
Hi, the KTM guy I tightened my chain from didn't even put the bike on the paddock stand and said that it'd make noise after getting tightened up and it indeed is. Is it something of a concern?
i just got a Rc 390 but for some reason I do not know how to turn off my low beams when I'm riding during the day. The daytime running lights are on, the 2 at the front but my low beam as well. Is there a way to turn them off?
LUIS FRANCO Hello my friend, thank you for watching my video.. Oh, that is strange, usually only the daytime running lights should be on and not the low beam while the engine is running. I suggest you to show the motorbike to the service center mechanic and take their advise.. Please do keep me updated.. Hope you enjoy my other videos also and hope you have subscribed to the channel. Have a nice week ahead.
hey, thanks a lot for the video, really helpful. i have a small problem with my duke 200. i hope you could help me out with it. i get this weird sound from the front sprocket when the bike is at a considerable speed and the sound just does not go. i have been regularly lubricating the chain and the sound still exists. ill be glad if you could tell me what the sound is all about and a solution for the same. thank you.
+Nikhil thorvat Can you please shoot a short video clip and send to me, if possible, of the sound. So, that I can get a better idea mate! Eesyam Ridzwan Hello my friend! Thank you very much for watching! Sure, I will try to make a video on the sprockets! Do enjoy my other videos also and hope you have subscribed to the channel.. Have a nice day!
great video sir... this is very important to learn for every biker...thanks a lot... Sir I do need your suggestion. I want to buy a bike and I request you to suggest me with the best option. I want power, mileage and safety(like abs or cbs). Would be a daily commuter and I like to tour on holidays,, so bike for both city ride and touring. Minimum 150 cc and Maximum I would go for 200 to 220 cc(I think you would suggest me the same). I am 5 feet 6 inches tall and weigh 62 kilos, hope this will help u decide with the ride height and posture. Please suggest me with the best option having both power and mileage on an average and I know you will suggest me with safer bikes. will be waiting for ur rply...
Atrin Chowdhury Thank you Atrin. I would suggest the Honda CBR 250R. That bikes is very good for touring, can be ridden in the city with no issues, fuel efficiency is nice and Honda reliability is superb and has adequate power. Please let me know what you feel. Vikas Rachamalla thank you sir,, surely an awesome bike but what about its price and mileage and does it has ABS? I know that you have suggested me with the right option, can you also give a view on bikes like Gixxer, Apache RTR 180 ABS or NS 200... or any other bike in that catagory(within 1 lakh range)...
Atrin Chowdhury Yes, Honda CBR 250R has ABS option and is priced closed to 2 lakhs on road. The closest option is 200RS Plusar, it also has ABS option and is very well priced at Rs 1,45,000 on road.
Vikas Rachamalla yes sir, that is the main problem... I am from a middle class family and really cant afford bikes more than 1 lakh range as the protective gear set will also cost me high and I need to keep that in mind... can you plz suggest me with the best option within 1 lakh range sir... looking forward for your rply sir,, will go for what you suggest
I feel around the 1 Lakh range, the best bike is the Pulsar 200NS! Very good bike it is... Are you connected to me on Facebook? facebook.com/vikas.rachamalla facebook.com/Iammotorbiker
