Just what I needed to know. We build a custom cabinet for our bathroom, and this video showed me how to adjust it in one minute. If the wife is happy with the adjustment (and she is), then I'm happy. Thanks!
I had to replace a Blum Hinge. When I installed it the doors did not align up so I search for intel on how to make the adjustments. God bless you for making this video. Interesting point is that when I was so proud of y work, I looked how the professional had aligned the doors. LOL - they all need to be adjusted!
OMG! Thank you for the best video on this! I just updated my old hinges and a few were off. I wasn't sure if I could adjust them. Two minutes I was done!
jason, could you PLEASE COME and adjust all my kitchen cabinet doors? none of them are right and i'm so tired of all of them are cattywalla. If you can't come, please tell me whom i should call,PLEASE
I appreciate this video-however, it doesn't address the problem when the hinge comes undone from the back plate, leaving the door hanging in midair-not sure how to describe this, but I had a devil of a time trying to get both "clips" to go back on the posts and figure how to get the door to stay put on the hinge 😞and not keep falling off. Somehow with enough choice 4 letter words, a lamp to see what I was or wasn't doing I managed to rehang the door. I do not like these hinges! Being a 73 year old Granny who can hardly turn myself into a pretzel to work on this didn't help!
Jason, great video, thank you. The tension has gone out of one of my cabinet doors (Blum hinges, about 20 yrs old), the self-close not working at all. Any suggestions for that. Thanks Tom
Ok, what happens if the hing clip has in part come away from the cupboard (carcus)? How do you properly remove the hing clip so you can slip it back on its track? I'm going to have to unscrew the hinge all the way aren't I?!
Problem with my cabinet is that the two doors are too close together and they bump when they are both closed. I want to increase the gap at the bottom, but the adjustment screw is as tight as possible - end of its range.
I'm missing the back most screw on inside cabinet doe's this srear most screw hold the 2 pieces together. like the piece thats on door it clips into the cabinet piece so the rear screw must hold both pieces together correct? excellent video.
Thank you for posting this. I hate hanging/adjusting doors as I have not been very good at it in the past. This video allowed me to adjust a slightly rubbing kitchen door accurately, and in in no time at all. Thanks again.
This was the best 6 minutes I've spent on RU-vid in a long time. Thanks for explaining everything I didn't know that I needed to know about hinges. I think I'll go fix my cabinet doors now.
Just fitting a kitchen here in England, Europe and this video has proved to be brilliant. No waffle, straight to the point and accurate. All the doors in our kitchen perfect in 20 mins. Many thanks 👍
Same.... But for me it's years. I've got 2 doors adjoining each other that have been out of whack and striking ease other. I have twisted every screw dozens of times over the years in frustration
thanks Jason, a couple top and bottom doors had been rubbing against each other for months and I’d been putting off tackling the repair, unsure what needed adjustment. BAM done in 3 minutes after watching your vid. No more two doors opening when we only need one open. Like Red Green says “if she doesn’t find you handsome she should at least find you handy”
Great video. Sorry for this 'stupid' question. I bought four Blum concealed hinges. Regarding the two adjustment screws, for IN vs OUT and LEFT vs RIGHT. Before I install them how do I ensure that the screws are in neutral (initial 0) position. So, that once I've installed them I can fiddle IN/OUT or LEFT/RIGHT. Looking at my four hinges all four have the cross on the screw head at different positions. My mounting plate is a simple screw on type, without the ability to be adjusted up or down. The mounting plate will be installed Thickness of the door plus 38.5mm. Thank you for any advice given.
This is the best video I have seen on this topic and has helped me make the necessary adjustments. Most only mention the two main adjustment screws. Thanks for this video.
Great video!!! You had me at "it seems kinda weird .... but it's not." I'm installing some cabiets this coming Monday. The gal I'm installing for may not pay me for all the work I've done. How bad would it be to install the doors perfect... then adjust them so the slow close doesn't function and they are all outta wack??? Do you think she would give me the full payment to get them back to good?
Possibly! I would adjust them all cranked in and out😅😂 Good luck! Hopefully she will pay you. Or maybe arrive with the doors and then make her pay you first
Thank you Jason. Managed to solve a tricky hinge issue with your clear instructions. Besr vid of half a dozen i watched. Saving this video for all my future cab hinge needs!!
Great job explaining how these hinges work and the proper way to adjust them. Was able to correct the alignment of all my cabinets after watching. Thanks!!
Ok so what would happen if I have adjusted all 3 ways and the door just opens by itself. It was perfectly fine for years and now, it won’t close what so ever. out of nowhere, the door would just open up and it’ll be hard to close the door
Usually if the door doesn't want to close all the way it's because one of those adjustments are maxed out such as the adjustment that brings the door closer to the cabinet may be adjusted all the way in and it's binding up with the hinge and the cabinet face frame.
So if the door isn't closing all the way I would have just the far back screw so it brings the door away from the cabinet and then when you close it it should have plenty of room and not bind up
At the cabinet shop I worked at we'd use one soft close and one regular hinge for normal size doors or a soft of the top and bottom with a regular in the middle good tall doors or all soft close if it's a heavy door.
Right on! I used to do that as well!! Then it became too overwhelming on how many of what to order and then I just shut off the ones that you didn't need...* Sometimes when a door is so fucked out of square and the room totally sucked for square..you can use only one soft close hinge with a heavy door! I had 6 hinges on one door and the room was so cocked that I had to turn off 5 hinges with the tension I was getting...3 world problems but man it sucks... customer was happy!!! #noclue
@@DoingitWithjason the company I was with would order two huge wholesale boxes of both, in their situation they never really had to figure out how many were needed they just had to make sure their stock pile was not low. Good idea if I do a kitchen for a friend though, I'm not with that company anymore. Their paint booth was in their shop and the whole place smelled like lacquer, ever if I was only at the shop long enough to unpack the tools from the van after a install in 10 minutes I'd smell like lacquer.
