This video shows how to adjust the refrigerator door on a classic top freezer bottom fresh food style refrigerator. The bottom fresh food door was sagging, so this was my fix.
THANK YOU THANK YOU! I searched for "fix refrigerator door" and found your video. Lo and behold, my refrigerator, the issue, the bolts and the solution were all identical to yours, and it all worked! I don't have to kick my fridge door shut anymore--thanks again! (Will return whenever my gasket needs replaced, lol.
Thank you for the video. I have the exact same old fridge with the exact same problem for a decade, and your video inspires me to fix it. The only thing I would like to add is, there is this horseshoe shape of washer you can buy online, which just plug in without taking the door hinge off, save you the extra hassle!
A number of fridges use spacers (washers)to lift their fridge doors... you did exactly what is in the instruction manual. This doesn't change the tilt though....just lifts the whole thing so it clears opposing corner.
Exactly my problem. Did exactly as per this video and it worked a charm. Even used a hose O ring as in the video. Thanks. My question however is why did it lower in the first place. The original washers on the hinge pin do not appear worn.
Had the exact same problem and thought of the same solution, but found a better way that addresses the crooked door. TLDR; Make sure the top bracket is adjusted properly (it has an adjustable slot under the front bolt), then adjust the foot to raise the hinge side. Slightly loosen the bolts that hold the bracket on top of the freezer. Grab the fridge and freezer door handles together. Open the door slightly. Reef up and watch that top bracket adjust itself. Close the doors while maintaining upward pressure. Crank the top bolts tight again. This was all to ensure that the top bracket is adjusted in your favour. Now lift the whole fridge on the hinge side, get your fingers under there, and loosen the bolt/foot. As you crank the hinge side up higher, the actual fridge box will rack into the correct position, raising the handle side. Same principle applies when installing doors in your house.
It’s actually the bolts the adjust the wheels witch are in the front just behind that trim plate the door is fixed Like you said no adjustment you adjust the wheels until the door shuts good Basically leveling it It’s the same fridge I tried to fix mine after watching your video but I could not find a washer so I started inspecting other options lol 😅
Always level the entire fridge first with the front a bit higher than the rear to help doors swing closed on their own. Don't forget to level side to side as well. Then do the door alignment..... That rubber garden hose gasket you used will create friction and wear quickly. It would have been better to put it under the hard poly or metal factory washer you left under it to avoid that issue.
