Awesome video! My 12 year old plays tenor and I have the musical talent of a slug 🤷‍♂️ This was very helpful. Definitely following 😃

Thank you ! my tenor sax was jumping into higher octave on its own. I had checked for light gaps but this solved the problem

Hi great video. I play a Mark VI tenor 195xxx with the stock neck. Is there a way to adjust the tension for the thin spring-metal spring under the hinge on top of the neck? Or do you have to find a different spring with lighter tension. Mine has always been too stiff and difficult to keep completely open when changing notes. Thanks!

Please help me just got a tenor from China I noticed when I play the B A or G notes (without octave key pressed) I either hear squeaky, growling or higher octave sounds. I have looked at the neck and body octave keys and they seem intact.Don’t know much about saxophone. Please help

How do you adjust the play (or slippage/click) in the octave key mechanism on the body (on a MK6 tenor)? Mine has a kind of double-clutching action, which is noticeable.

Hi, I had the second problem where the octave doesn't close enough and I manage to fix it each time however a day after or sometimes even while playing and not touching it it comes loose again. Any tips on bending it more permanently? Thanks.

So we both have the same problem, I still don't know how my neck went from not closing enough and now to finally not closing

@@ugo1174 Hi Ugo if it's not closing at all I would try and use the tequnique in the video of lifting the octave and bending. I went to a repair guy for other reasons and he said that the octave not closing properly is normal and could bend in the case. He did replace my octave pad, but that is a very specific problem. If using the tequnique in the video doesn't help though I would go to a repair shop to see if the problem is elsewhere.

@@IL-saxophonist thanks a lot big man! I used the technique last night and my sax feels better now but I still feel I need to change the octave pad

@@ugo1174 Happy to hear that it's a bit better. The octave pad in my case was a bit ripped so maybe that happened in your sax too but it could be a variety of different problems if it's still not closing. I would suggest to go repair it and then update us on what the problem was!

my b,c, c# are thin. Especially c, c#....When I lift the octave key pad higher with my right hand, it sounds better and more full. Does this mean my octave pad is no opening up high enough

Try to blow harder with an open throat and see if it helps. When you play the b, c and Especialy C# alot of vents are open means it loses a lot of air when coming out of the tube. I had the same problem and found out I simply didnt blow hard enough with a good breath support. I am a rookie so dont take my words for gospel but it might help.
