The mechanics of aiming requires a gamer to understand how to position and use their body and aiming arm to control the mouse and crosshair. Whether you're playing CSGO, Overwatch, PUBG, Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, or Battlefield - with proper mechanics, you can aim with precision in any FPS game.

I'm not as good as I once was but I'm still good enough to own the top 10 percent of the sweat hogs on a good day. Your observations and instructions reminded me to make sure I pay attention to the basics before I jump into my games. I appreciate the time you've taken to educate us "Old Guard" players.

So after being a console gamer my whole life(I'm 42)I decided they sucked(finally)and built a PC just a few days ago. I enjoy battlefield and let me tell you how frustrating and embarrassing it is trying to aim with a mouse coming from console. So in my search for tips on getting better, it led me here.

@NorthsideChamps16

@@RonRamboKim I'm getting better but I still over or under aim. I'm using a G502 Proteus core and it feels good in my hand and I can map a lot of in game controls to the buttons. I've upped my sensitivity a little and seem to be doing better aiming so once I get a little more used to it I'll bump it up little by little and see how it goes. Super frustrating though.

@@TarikTruth @NorthsideChamps16 you need your own settings. Search for the "find you sensitivity" video by eclipse. It was made for csgo but can be used for any other game that has a crosshair in some sort. Ones you found your sens, stick to it! Your hand will get used to it, ones used for a long time aiming will get way easier.

The drawing analogy is an important one that I’ve never heard anyone make yet. I’ve been drawing all my life, so it was clear to me early on that I essentially want to teach myself to draw with the mouse as efficiently as I do a pen or pencil on paper. The body, arm, forearm, wrist positioning, and economizing is all information you’ll learn from a good drawing professor. One thing I have a tough time with is the disconnect between what I’m physically “drawing” on the mousepad, and what’s presented on the screen. I had to play with mousepad orientation, playing with it being exactly parallel with the face of the monitor, and it not being parallel, etc... Work in progress.

I think it's beneficial to understand the technical side of the mechanics, but at the end of the day, you should rely more on feel and intuition to make the fine-tune adjustments. As soon as someone starts to consciously think about aiming, is when they've gone overboard

Elbow placement and well placed elbow rests are important for consistency. My elbow rest is slightly higher than the mouse pad so that the forearm is placed correctly to shift between elbow and wrist aim. This is good practice for FPS games that do not rely on ADS to have precise movement while aiming and fast movement while running.

Thank you for this video and for guiding us a little deeper into the widely undiscovered world of esport mechanics. I'm very excited to see your future videos! That just makes you actually so cynical about your ability to perform, in the sense that "Oh I need THIS exact setup to be able to perform". That's not really the case. Consistency is the key yes, using the same setup, with the same posture and using the same gear every day will help you be consistent, but I think people waste too much time in actually wanting to have everything perfect that the amount of time they use to do so would be much better used for practicing. Playing frequently is the best key for consistency. People don't turn pros over night and that's what these videos convey to people and to most players think they'll be able to perform as a pro by using these tips for a few days and then their aim will be perfect

after 10 years on controller i moved back to mouse and key bored. i use a chair with arm rests, spacing it at a comfortable distance from the desk and at a height that is just slightly above the desk height, it works well as a pivot point as well as a consistent position. great video, lets me know im on the right track. now for the fun bit, establishing some muscle memory.

An old co-worker of mine once invited me over to his house. He let me play his xbox while he played csgo on his pc. He was playing in a 1v1 arena and everytime he got a kill or got killed he would reposition his mouse pad, keyboard, and the way he was sitting until he found that sweet spot. Up until then I've never seen anyone do that.

That 'how you hold the mouse shit' is really accurate for getting more consistent. Also getting some grip tape to put less effort into holding that glossy shit coating is key + paracords for lightweight cables/no drag.

Logitech wireless is dope although there is slight angle snapping on hero sensors, grip tape is pretty good, paracord needs a bungie so it does not fly all over, just some tips from my experience

One way to easily note your arm placement is not to focus on the arm itself but where you place your mouse on your mouse pad, i play near the top of mine and can always easily/naturally find my position. Same goes for weather you place your mouse in the middle of your pad, ect, ect.

Ron Rambo Kim since we are on the topic, i also struggle on the distance between my stomach and my table, not sure if I should be glued to my table, or leave a couple inches between me and the table, thoughts ?

I think it's personal preference. The stomach close to table would be more repeatable...

Thank you so much that pencil tip with the various calculated finger pressures absolutely changed everything for me I immediately got into an apex game and started beaming it was actually insane. I’ve had my pc 11 months and had a relaxed palm grip with ok but not consistent accuracy but once you said pressure I found I naturally went to more of a claw and have so much more fine control. Thank you again. One thing I wish you’d gone over or maybe it’s in another vid is how close the chest and face should be to the monitor. I find some pros have their monitor right at the edge of the desk and have their face really close to it to aim I started doing that too and that also improved my aim I’m just wondering how close is too close.

Honestly just sit down and dont think about it and you should find a natural position, and if it feels off then your general setup isn't great.

That was informative, i feel like i have a waaay better idea about aim now. Thank you, this will help improving my aim because i have really inconsistent aim cause im playing low sense with a fingertip grip, changing to a more controlled grip or better said that the mouse feels locked in place is way better for low sensitivitys and now i just have to rebuild my muscle memory a little bit.

Just found your channel. Great tips on your coaching vidz, so many thanks. I have realised that i was doing a hell of a lot wrong with my seating position/posture and the use of my pivot points. I play on BF at 8% so about 1.7 csgo which is relatively low so i assume that i should be using both my elbow and wrist as pivot points? Also what CSGO Aim Training maps do you recommend and are they part of the game or are they add-on's. I saw both you and S1mples using these in you videos. A video on aiming tips that is actually really useful. Good stuff and keep it up.
