Thank you for this video. I drove to work today wondering why my brand new LED lights looked way worse than the old halogens I had. This explains it perfectly. And also explains the mysterious Allen wrench in the box... 😂
Exactly what I needed to know. I just got my superbrightleds 9006 conversion bulbs and am installing them and wondered if the alignment of the bulb inside the housing made a difference. Turns out it does, thanks to you
Very informative, this video solved my headlights problem where by I ended up putting back the original halogen, now the led lights got a pattern. Thanks a lot 😎
A little tip...i was having some trouble finding the right 9&3 configuration just eyeballing it. So I placed the bulb as it should be installed. Then took a white paint marker and made a dot at 12oclock on the collar. Then took the bulb out and aligned it perfectly, tightened the Allen screws and it was perfect. No need to fiddle, just try this, it works awesome. You're welcome. 😁
Problem is your not showing all this in a headlamp projector assembly which generally always causes horrible led wave patterns that can not be eliminated regardless if the leds are set in a 3&9 position using lasfit led h11 lowbeam bulbs.
@@marioelburro1492 thank you. Hard to tell if that’s what I have. I ended up purchasing the Sylvinia ultras a few minutes ago. Only 200 hours sounds very low for 60 dollar bulbs when my stock are still working over 8 years. But I can’t see much at night so I need something whiter
Very Precise Info ! I have an Osram HB3 LED, should I align the LED strip in a way that it is perpendicular to the smallest of the three clips on the LED bulb ?
very helpful. My new led's are light crap...one side shoots in the air, the other side is just a blur. With this simple explanation I can adjust them correctly. To adjust the bulbs I have to remove the grill, sidelights then the headlights..PITB!
I just bought some new LED headlights, they had great reviews on them and said they were super bright but when I installed them in my 2010 Subaru Impreza they aren’t as bright as my previous halogen bulbs. Why would this be?
Thanks! Great info, just quick question i know that the LED light position would be 3/9 when switched on to low beam and the led has 2 led film would it be the higher film would light if it's switched low beam? ir it should be the lower part of a film?
Great question! There is one set of LED chips that are slightly more forward towards the tip of the LED bulb, that is the set of chips that you want ontop! For another perspective, you want the wire leading into the LED bulb to be on the bottom once installed! Please email us if we can help you further! Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com
Ahh apparently I installed my LED strips perfectly at 9 & 3 o clock, there is groves you have to align them with so you can't install em any other way. I guess my aftermarket headlights are just shit. I've tried adjusting the headlight position as much as I can. They work fine but the oem assemblies are definitely noticeably better. I don't have the old halogens to do a side by side comparison with these 9007 LEDs damn it. Its a 2011 Crown Vic.
It would probably be super helpful to all of these people out here that are buying light bulbs by their brightness instead of by their functionality, if you were to create a video that highlights exactly what I just mentioned. Why brighter is not always better. I searched your videos and I couldn't find it. Maybe you already have one and I just couldn't find it but I think that would be valuable to everyone including people that don't purchase headlights based on their brightness level. Thanks :-)
@@HeadlightRevolution yikes! Thanks man!!!! That's wicked cool of you to do. I realize in the main scheme of things it doesn't mean a single thing truly but I did sub to you for this.
Awesome, information all should know if they're installing LED's, I knew there was a certain position but didn't know if it was 12/6(led blade horizontal) or 3/9 o'clock (led blade vertical). Thank you for the video.
I have 2004 mercury sable I installed torchbeam LEDs on and I did them at 9 and 3 positions as well has have them with the correct high/low beam chips right side up, but I still get a beam pattern that looks like an eagle with wings spread or the bat signal or something. And the beams focuses are sort of pointed straight out instead of converging in front. Is it just that my old ass car is not very compatible with the new LED designs? Should I just get Xenons?
My son bought me a pair of Fahren Termitor headlights (20,000 Lumins) for Christmas. I live on a winding up and down hill road, would it be best to align my driver side headlight an extra inch lower so when going up a right hand turn so I do not blind on-coming traffic? Our road to our house is so dark so brighter headlights is a must but I do not want to cause an accident I drive a Nissan Xterra with reflector lenses
@@HeadlightRevolution I threw away the instructions that came with the bulbs. Your video was just the right one I was looking for. Very helpful, thank you again!!
I had a question. I bought some sylvania led from oreillys auto about 3 years ago. I went to look at the light position and there was no adjustment on it. But the right side was at 8pm and 2pm and the left side was at 10pm and 4pm. Is that sufficient?
I had no clue, thank you so much! A few months back I purchased the SuperNova v4 ones for my 2015 Explorer & have been wondering about the beam pattern. I imagine the same concept applies here correct?
I am doing this in my motorcycle and my led bulb lights up on both sides with high beams and one side with low, is the 9 and 3 O clock preferred for that?
So when you're on low beam, one side of the bulb lights up, and when you're on high beam, both sides will light up? If so, that will not provide a good beam pattern, and that is not how an LED bulb should function. You want both sides of the bulb to light up for low and high beam. But to answer your question, yes, you'll still want the LED chips to face left and right. What LED bulbs are you currently using?
It likely will not give you the best results as they could yield, I'd most definitely recommend a setup that you can adjust to properly fit your vehicle!
On my 2010 Honda accord it’s installed properly, but the beam pattern is terrible. I made sure it’s the low beam headlight so that way I won’t accidentally put a led high beam in the low beam housing. It’s done correctly but the beam is still bad. Was the car not meant for leds only halogens??
There can be a few different factors, have you tried moving the bulb in different positions? Whats the condition of the actual headlight and the lens? Shoot us an email, we can help! sales@headlightrevolution.com
I have a two sided led light like these but only one side lights up for the low beam and the other side for high. Should the low beam side face the driver side or passenger side of the headlight housing?
Kindly did you ever tested the BAISHIDE Car Lights H4 LED H7 20000LM H11 LED Lamp for Car Headlight Bulbs H1 H8 H9 9005 9006 HB3 HB4 Turbo H7 LED Bulbs 12V 24V or thinking of testing them? Something else I am confused with is that the halogen lamp has a small cover or reflector near the low beam filament and is at the bottom position when fitted in the head light so the beam is emitted to the upper part so why when we insert an led bulb we should place it horizontal to emitt the light beam to the sides of the head lamp in a projectile head lamp?
That kind of depends on which product you bought. We've seen some work really well and others work really bad. The good high quality housings that you can get from PIAA or Vision X take really well to LED bulbs. The cheaper generic ones don't work as well.
So theoretically… if the LEDs and the Power Cable are lined up straight out of the box, then it would automatically be clocked at 3 and 9 position when installed? Assuming the power cord comes out at the 6 o’clock position.
That's right, for most vehicles it'll be good to go out of the box. But for some vehicles, like a 98 Silverado we put some Ultra 2's in recently, they might need some slight tweaking to get them just right!
what about high beam? and also when I adjust the headlight vertically using the adjustment screw dose that change the position of the low and high beam or the low beam only? considering that I have a bulb for low beam and another for high beam of course.
Just installed led headlights on my 2002 dodge ram 1500 3rd gen dual beam auxito now the high and low beams are flipped also when I hit the high beams it turns off my fogs
I'm not too familiar with those bulbs, but after looking at them, they do not appear to be adjustable. You're best bet would be to go with an LED bulb that can be adjusted.
I just ordered a pair of Sealight x2 H11 and 9005 for my 2015 Honda Accord coupe, For someone reason i cannot align the bulbs, I unscrewed the screw on the sids but that still wont allow me to align properly once i screw the screw back in place
This is a great video. My headlights have many scratches on the inside of the lense that can't be repaired. My fog lights get water on the inside. So what I did was buy new replacements and adjusted my new LED bulbs with the new assemblies and then placed them on the car fully aligned. I had to wait a couple of months before installing my new assemblies because it was the middle of winter.
In the United States, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment are regulated by the US Department of Transportation (DOT). Even though these types of LED lights can be used in place of an original halogen light bulb, it is not legal to use on vehicles registered for on-street use. Feel lucky?
They are sensitive to orientation as well, just like the reflector housings! You will want to aim the LEDs to face left and right just the same, that way they mimick the OEM Halogen bulb as perfectly as possible!
@@HeadlightRevolution hello. How about the projector housing on my rav4 2015. The socket is on the side indtead on the back of the projector? How should I adjust it?
Hi HR, thanks for the gyan. I just installed my first LED bulb on my scooter and I did install it at 6 and 12'o clock which i just learnt from you that its a terrible fit. I will twist it to 3 and 9'o clock. But I have a question here. Once I fit it at 3 and 9'o clock, should the low beam led chips be onto my right or left assuming i am standing behind the headlight?
You got it man, you will want those chips to be facing left and right inside the headlight housing! Let us know if you have any other questions, we are here to help!
@@HeadlightRevolution one more question which I wanted to ask yday but missed somehow. How should be the placing of low bwam chips if my LED bulb has a set of 3 chips on either side one side for low beam and other for high beam?
Is this a dual beam bulb? If this is, most vehicles will require the forward LEDs that are further out to be on top! If this is a single beam bulb, you will just need to have the LEDs facing left and right inside the housing! Let us know if you have any other questions, have a great day!
@@HeadlightRevolution yes it is a dual beam H4 LED. One side glows for low beam and other side glows too (along low beams) when high beam is switched on. Clearly in my case i cant install it sideways as it gave me a wierd beam pattern. If so, my question is, how to figure out whice side to be placed upside or downside to get a perfect pattern?
That is not how any of our LED bulbs, or any LED bulbs we have tested in that H4 bulb sise go, so I will not be able to help you here. Sorry about that!
@@HeadlightRevolution not a problem. Unsure if it's for an older version or he just didn't read the directions. Speaking of which, I have a Tacoma as well. Which would you recommend, the S-V.4 or the GTR lighting ultra 2? I don't want too much reflection in a snow storm and the review recommending the S-V.4 came out before the Ultra 2 came out.
I’m wondering the same here. I can’t seem to see the bulb position once they are fitted into my projector headlamps. Hope we can have some clarification. Thank you
awesome video, there is a myth around the community here in india, that we should never use LEDs in refectors. Is it so ? Also cab you suggest few LEDs for Ford Ecosport 2015 with H4 and Reflector assembly
Up until recently, that would be the case, but there have been some major increases in technology over the last couple of years! With that said, the S-V.4 LED or the Ultra 2 LED would both be a fantastic option for your reflector headlight, you can check them out here: www.headlightrevolution.com/lighting-by-size/custitem_category_facet/H4?order=commercecategory:asc
If I have them installed but can’t tell the angle they’re facing how am I able to know if the beam pattern is perfect? They’re placed in with the wire facing down which is how they’re supposed to be put in but I can rotate them once inside the housing should they be turned all the way to the right or when there’s a solid focus and cutoff or where should I determine is best when angling within the housing itself?
You will just need to pull the bulb out of the housing, look at what angle it is at, make sure to adjust for turning the bulb into place, then set the collar to allow for the bulb to face the proper directions! It is just a game of eyeballing it for the ones that have a projector or a reflector shield.
@@HeadlightRevolution yeah I have one of the hikari led’s so I’m able to just rotate it without having to remove the collar, now another question should I adjust it until it’s a completely focused beam with a definite cutoff or will I just have to play around with it to get an optimal pattern? I have them installed in a Kia Rio 2015 so I just wanted to make sure they were perfect!
You will just have to play around a little bit to make sure that it will align properly, I know that can be a pain but that is the only option with headlights like these. Sorry about that!
Does the 9 and 3 oclock alignment make a difference for the 2020 4Runner? Doesn't seem like it's reflecting on any mirrors so I'm wondering if this also applies
My projector lens creates a shadow in the middle because I think there's no light in the middle of the bulb but only from the sides. So should I adjust it to 12 and 6 o clock for projector lens? Really want to like the LEDs but the shadowww
This just happened to me, i won't be able to change them until later today so an answer by then would be greatly appreciated. There is a dark spot in the center of the projector. It is an 360° adjustable H7 two-side chip LED bulb.
The degree at which you aim them is not important, it is the height that you aim them at. This video should be more helpful for you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OIow5YgdRro.html
Can you send us a picture of the beam pattern and the bulbs you're using? sales@headlightrevolution.com Park about 25 ft away from the wall on a flat surface so we can see the beam pattern clearly!
