SUMMARY:-
Arudha lagna represents your public image, what you potray to the other people in the society. This is an important tool through which you can easily see that what will be career type and the level of success you will get in that.
For calculation of arudha lagna, follow the method which I have told you and don't follow any exceptions which you might have read in books and on the internet. There are no exceptions, they are just made up by the astrologers, they have no significance at all.
See the position of 10th lord of birth chart in arudha lagna and influnce of other planets on it. Also see the planets which are influencing the 1st house of arudha lagna and arudha lagna lord, as they will determine your career and success in life.
See the example which I have discussed, you will easily understand how Arudha Lagna is analysed.

Sir your statement doesn't justify with maharishis statement. Brihat parashara hora shastra. Chapter 29 shloka no 4 and 5. Same house or the 7th from it does not become the pada. When pada falls in same house or 7th 10th therefrom should be treated as pada. And if Lord of bhava is 4th from bhava no counting is required. House occupied by Lord itself is arudha. And in jaimini sutram by ps shastri Chapter 1 quarter 1. Shloka 30 If Lord of sign is 4th from it 4th from it becomes arudha. Shloka 31. Lord of sign is 7th from it, that very sign becomes it's arudha. And surprisingly both are old authors which we can refer. Which one is correct both contradict each other. Which one to refer???

Parashara is always right and so is Jaimini. But question is do you have the oldest manuscript, probably not, so there are interpolations and modifications that might have caused this, I'm Sagittarius Lagna and my Jupiter is in 7th house, but my AL is in 10 house (Virgo) which is correct.

Some say count from Ascendant Lord to Ascendant... others say count from Ascendant to Ascendant Lord (other way around). Not sure who to believe... gives me two VERY different results

Lagna & 7th house, houses of truth. Arudha Lagna is maya, so arudha of any house won’t fall in the same house or 7th from it. That’s what astrology parampara school teaches us..

Ok, Everywhere I read this rule regarding 1st and 7th house. I have libra rising and Venus is in cancer 10th house, using the rule my AL would be Capricorn in 4th house (not at all accurate) without the rule it's in Aries 7th house. Correct? Thank

Karakamsha is where your atma karaka planet gets placed in d9. Hence it's all about soul purpose. Arudha is more about how you are perceived by people , whether that perception may be true, may not be true.

Rahu has directional strength in 10th house, if not bad sign-wise, the native will have the capability to pull the masses. The key here is that Rahu influences 10th house not only in Rasi, but Arudha chart as well. This is not a normal horoscope. Cheers

Are you using Jaimini aspects or Parashari aspects in the example chart? and if using Parashari aspects than why? Isn't Arudha lagna a Jaimini concept?

+Nilay Patel it shows the image which you want to put amongst the people, the concept which you are talking of Graha arudha that shows how people perceive you and the image which they have made in their mind. But see arudha lagna is totally different from graha arudha but much more important than that.

Sir, I always felt the method you said is correct. When I use those exceptions found in books or oline I notice things don't make sense for people. But when I read bhrihat parashara hora shastr or jaimini sutra, etc... there are sloka that talk about the exceptions. Are you saying these sloka are currupt and added by bad astrologers in the past? I want to believe you, since I agree the method you said works great. But when I do that so many other astrologers say I am wrong and point me to the sloka in the texts that mentions exceptions.. :(

See that's what I have said repeatedly in my videos that everything that's written might not be working in reality, but people believe it as a pure stoned theory and never bother to check its accuracy in real life and argue just on the basis that it's written in ancient texts. By doing this you are losing your rationality and scientific temper and become ritualistic and Orthodox instead. Jyotish is like science where many things are still unknown so if any maharishi has written about it, it does not mean that it's always true , if you come up with new working method then people find it hard to digest because they think that any new method in modern astrology cannot be true if it is in contradiction with the old one. This attitude cannot make a person a good astrologer ever as you are not open to new knowledge and you are just blowing your own trumpet and that too not on your research and findings but that of others.

That is all true. It bothers me too when people just say something is correct because it is in a book or because it is popular opinion, but they don't actually go test on many charts themselves or bother to try anything non-traditional. I was just wondering if there was a sloka or some proof in any version of a text that mentions not using exception, so that I can have something to use against people who argue back to me saying I am wrong for not using exception. But if not, then I understand, and we will just do it the way that works best for us and feel sorry for people who are stuck in old ritualistic ways. Thanks for the reply.

+Garett E. You don't need any shloka to your method correct, what you need is to demonstrate that it truly works and not just in any one case but in general. Let people say what they want to say, you follow what is correct and true even if it is not mentioned in any ancient jyotish text.
