I. How to report T-test results
An independent-samples t-test was conducted to compare (your DV measure) ________ in (IV level) ________and (IV level)_______ , t(degress of freedom) = the t statistic, p = p value.

Hi Mohamed, Thank you so much for the inspiring work you are doing and for helping individuals to develop statistical analysis skills. Could you please share the video link in which you have taught how to calculate the mean score for Likert scale data for the use to run moderated regression analysis? It would be great if you can make one complete video and teach from the beginning to transform likert scale data first and then run the moderated regression analysis. Best Regards, Faiz Subhani

Sir, I have 7 associated factors of stress as 7 questions. Each question has 10-item likert scale questions. How to find the overall p-value for each factor? Is it possible? Or do I need to find the p-value for each item? My dependent variable is stress levels (low, moderate and high). I am using ordinal logistic regression.

You can compute the mean score after testing reliability of each variable

How can you use t test on ordinal data ? We know likert scale is strictly speaking ordinal and it violates other assumptions of parametric tests.

It depends on your research objectives and data transformation techniques

T-tests are parametric tests that assume the data being tested is normally distributed and has equal variances. Ordinal data, such as that obtained from a Likert scale, is often not normally distributed and violates the assumptions of equal variances. Therefore, using a t-test on ordinal data can lead to incorrect results. One alternative to using a t-test on ordinal data is to use a non-parametric test, such as the Wilcoxon signed-rank test or the Mann-Whitney U test, which do not assume normality or equal variances. These tests are specifically designed for ordinal data and are appropriate for Likert scale data. Before conducting any statistical test, it's important to carefully evaluate the assumptions of the test and make sure that the data meets these assumptions, or to use a test that is appropriate for the type of data being analyzed. Sensitivity analysis is preferred instead by using both parametric and non-parametric tests.

@@MohamedBenhimaPhD good that's why you can't use t test on likert scale like you did in this video. It's misleading 😅and will make many poor students fail.

hello, what if the significance p has values for both one-sided p and two-sided p, which of them do i use?

Your hypothesis determines whether you refer to 1 or 2 tailed. If your hypothesis is directional eg dogs are larger than cats, then it's 1 tailed. 2 tailed is non directional...eg there is a difference between dog and cat size.
