NOTICE TO Sweetwater Lifestyles: You might want to learn how to PROPERLY tie off a line to a cleat. You had the correct idea but the extra wrap was not needed and your final "tie-off" was not correct.

When retrieving anchor, you mean to say add slack. Reduce tension. Right?

Sorry for this rookie question, but why is the anchor line both chain and rope? I thought anchor lines are normally all chain for its superior durability over rope. If you are going to have it part chain and part rope, might as well just go all rope, right?

Three Stranded Nylon Rope has some stretch so it will cut down on any "jerking" if all chain. The reason for chain is it's heavy so the anchor will pull from lower angle and set & hold better. General rule is 6 ft. of chain for every 25 ft. od depth and you also MUST have the correct size for both the vessel and the windless.
