So simple! I thought appliqué would be hard. I did some spiders on a Halloween quilt. I think I’ll need to go back over my straight stitch with a zigzag to give the legs a hairy look, but this is much easier than I thought! Thanks!! 😊

Wow! I thought it was something that would be more difficult and tricky. Now I’ve got a find me a nice coloring book with some cool roosters, that is the thing I am working on and hoping to do. Thanks for making it so easy to understand and to do.

Jenny you are just the bomb! We so love you. I am so inspired by all you teach us. I've made your zig zag table runner, the charm square tote bag and the double cut layer cake quilt and I've only been sewing since November. You truly do take the mystery (fear) out of giving new techniques a try. Its like you're my very own personal teacher who comes to my house and shows my step by step how much fun I can have with needle, thread, beautiful fabric and creativity. My husband and I were piled up in the bed this past weekend and I pulled up utube on my tablet, chromecasted it onto my TV and watched (together I might add) your amazing videos, one after the other. When we came to the bluebell orange peel quilt my husband said "I want you to make that one". Can you believe it? You've even found a way to bring us close over quilting!!! As I've already said, you're the BOMB! if I'm ever in Missouri you can count on a visit from me :)

I appreciate your video. It made it so simple for the beginner quilter. I am learning so much about the quilting world. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed about all the information, but the more it is also the color rush too. I am a colorful person. I love the different color palettes. I am designing fabrics. Now just to go from idea to paper, to fabric and to quilt. You can't miss a step. I also got a job working with fabric to help with my learning. Thanks again. You have a new follower.

I love this video! I would like to add a couple things. You can also use a LIGHT weight interfacing if you don't have the paper. As long as it's not a heavy weight like you'd use for place mats, collars, or pot holders. It'd have to be a weight like what you might use for a cloth napkin but it'd work too and, for someone like me, it also makes the pieces easier to handle especially if it's an intricate pattern. (don't use your interfacing if it's too heavy of a weight 'cause it'll make it too thick and could cause problems when you try to get your needle through all the batting and fabric PLUS the interfacing so I wouldn't use it if yours is too thick. And you don't want awkward stiff flat planes on your topper.) Lastly the smaller or more involved your shapes are the harder it is to sew down practically with a machine so keep that in mind. The more your shape has sharp corners or tight organic lines the more fussing with a machine you'll be doing and the shape might not turn out as intended. Things you can do to mitigate these problems: 1. Pick shapes you can layer easily to create the more intricate pattern. 2. Use bigger versions of the shape so the outer edge is easier to follow. or 3. Hand sew it. I find with some shapes it's just way easier to hand sew it rather than fight my machine. I'll upgrade it eventually but as of now I just have the Brother Quilting machine.....It's a great machine but there are some limitations that are just irritating me XD.

@TeeWentNatural the heat and bond is sticky on both sides, but one side is covered in waxy paper. After ironing it on to the fabric and cutting out your piece, you take the paper off and position it where you want it, and then iron again. the adhesive on the back that was under the paper is still there and will adhere it to the blanket.

Thanks Jenny, because I am getting into a project like this. However, I am confused about 1 thing. I have seen that people put the design on a light box to reverse the design, especially if it is lettering. So you did not have to do that because you are working on the wrong side of the fabric? What a great idea to put a strip of fabric into a quilt and add cute applique. You could do that with many pieced quilts!

LOL.. Duh... I am working on appliqueing a sweatshirt for a friend and using the Wonder Under for the fusible applique pieces. I wasn't sure how I was going to do my lettering at first... I was possibly going to do a cross stitch of purple metallic like floss or even regular purple on waste canvas on a fabric and then applique it onto the sweatshirt! (That looked like a complete failure after I spent 8 hrs doing the test stitches so I chucked that idea!) I then resorted back to my alphabet I had printed from the fonts of Microsoft Word ... they were like 1 inch letters. I calmly cut around each letter to prep it for the applique and then traced the letter onto my prepared cloth with the Wonder Under attached... see why I laughed... Crazy Me forgot I could just trace the outlines of my objects right onto the paper and then fuse the Wonder Under to the material and eliminate one cutting step. I wish I would have watched this video before I did that!! LOL
