Hi Lisa…your videos have been super helpful since I have started with my jewellery making business. I’m using loctite gel based super glue as well as suggested in this video and I’m also giving it 24 hours of cure (not touching them) to be on safer side but lately I have seen some of the components still coming off. I’m not yet into resin, wondering what could be the reason.
You're so kind to share all these things and helping us learn get better 🥺 a BIG THANK YOU! I hope you grow and succeed 10 times as much as you're helping us grow ❤️
Thanks for such a thoroughly informative video. This will greatly help on my next project. On a side note....what kind of plant is behind you ? It's incredible ❣
Thank you! The information you share with the PC community is super valuable. Can you recommend the best companies to purchase earring posts/backings from?
I use the gorilla super gel glue! It's so strong! Also it helps if you use a backing with a larger surface area for a strong seal. I use 8mm and 6mm backs depending on the size of the stud :) thanks for the video
Mam I'm your big fan of your work..I had a question mam .I a new for this work . because I'm inspired by you.i want to know which machine you used for sending and polished to resin and how you bake polymer clay ...please reply me please
Hey beautiful Can u help me , please I'm having hard time to find,1lb clay ...l need buy a pound ,where u buy yours? And is Cernite? Or Premo ,bc the souffle is impossible to find here in Missouri. Thanks l love all you do for us.
I work on a smooth marble tile, but sometimes I'll work on a silicone mat with a bit of parchment paper layered on top. My mat has a grid which can be nice to work on when I need my pieces to be exact!
thankyou dear for your great video! : ) I am also a polymer clay artist and I can add another technique that is from @atelierpiino (Rita from Porto) she does the piinotechnique which is super super safe: Drilling a deepening into the baked clay in the size of the earring-back, then put the back in the hole and fill it with liquid clay and bake for another 20 min and the back is embedded in the clay, i use this method personally : )! hugs from vienna!
I just used polymer liquid clay and the backing of a customers earring just came off😭 I am so sad and I’m not sure what happened. How could I fix the earring backing?
Tell us please where do you buy your gold plated hooks!✨ You should open an etsy shop for all of the supplies needed to make jewelry. Really love your designs.
So helpful! Just ventured into polymer clay jewelry and made some hoops and s-curve type earrings with beads, but definitely want to try studs. Thank you!
Omg you are back!! Girly, you have inspired me to start making clay earrings, so thank you!! One request, please make a video on how to mix clay for custom colors. Ya girl is struggling!! Any who, can’t wait for more videos!! ✨💓
Another thing to consider that you might not know about epoxy resin, is that some brands recommend you don't mix less than 2 oz because it will not cure properly so another reason why it's not the best for jewelry making. The only reason I know this is because I do resin art and make clay jewelry
i just started trying my hand out at using polymer clay and your RU-vid channel is my go to for every single question I’ve had so far! So helpful and you’re so adorable too!
Thank you for this video! I have been struggling to find a good way to adhere my posts to the earrings that I’ve been making. I’m glad I found your channel I can’t wait to learn helpful tips and tricks from your videos.
This is so helpful, thank you! I’m so glad I saw it before I began selling, my biggest fear is having a post snap off lol. Can I ask, what camera do you use to film?
❤️Hello again!!... Thanks for posting this. I was actually wondering about this subject the other day. So this video help Soo much. Also, can I give you an advice?. *For future videos let people know with a disclaimer about the dangers of using Resin. A lot of people are beginners and don't know about it until they get a bad reaction from fumes like me. Those fumes are lethal, please use proper ppe, mask, gloves and I beg you don't use it in your house. Resin was a passion of mine until it nearly killed me. 🙏🏾💞Many blessings sent your way.
I just saw a tiktok where someone pretty much down talking super glue for earring backs and saying it's a rookie move... I wanted to use super glue. Is it still a good option?
from epodex site " The durability of a surface coated with UV resin varies between a few weeks and half a year. Since it only allows casting depths of up to 1mm, UV Resin is not a casting resin. A thicker casting would form bubbles and voids. Even after curing, UV resin is very sensitive to heat & can flake off or blister in the sun. Due to its properties, it is well suited for jewellery {sic} or ornamental elements. You can also use it as glue." so I am still in search of the best sealant for polymer pieces.
Another downside to resin is it is extremely toxic. You should look like you're cooking meth (respirator, lab coat/long sleeves, goggles, gloves, etc). Also, it needs to be used in a well ventilated area, outside if possible. A lot of people don't know how toxic resin is. I encourage everyone to do some research before using it. Other than that, great video!
Wow! What an exceptional tutorial video ! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and expertise. Very clear instructions and also video angles were awesome !!
This video was so helpful. I personally like using glue to attach the earring post then I cover it with some polymer clay and bake it to give it a clean look.
I am making an oval shape twisted earring hooked to a twisted piece. So would you use uv resin to hook the stud onto the top or the gel super glue? I just don't know HELP
I have used Sculpey bake and bond to adhere them and I'm having some pieces where they are coming apart after I have baked them. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your advice.
Welcome back and enjoyed the tips. So far I've only used the liquid polymer clay with a thin layer of regular clay, but my blending technique is not that great at the moment.
hi beautiful, happy that your back! your videos have taught me so much, ive missed you. i was wondering if you’ve made a video about this or answered it anywhere else but how do you properly put on a french hook? i’m having trouble with the earring looking almost as if it was backwards. also, i know you said in a previous videos you like to get your findings from other small businesses on etsy, would you mind sharing which ones your recommend? ✨
next time you use epoxy or uv resin please use a mask that filters out vapours! resin can be very toxic even in a ventilated room, you don’t wanna be breathing that stuff in! i also highly recommend wearing gloves because you most likely will get it on your hands, it’s hard to wash off and you can develop skin irritations over time!!! just wanting anyone thinking of using resin to be safe and to do their own research! 💖
@@asiabarajas2839 Play safe and buy yourself a N95 mask or P2 which is classified as a respirator. You only need one and using it just for resin application and sanding, one will last you a long time treating it with care. The same as buying yourself safety glasses to wear while sanding. It's best to start off as you intend to progress, that way is becomes a good habit. I have both that I use. Like like wearing nitral gloves so you don't risk getting resin on your skin. Many feel that there isn't a risk to one's health but doing it even in a small amount over time, it will accumulate. Most say you don't need a respirator if you are sanding wet (using wet and dry sanding paper with water and a small drop of liquid detergent). Occasionally we all get slack and do a quick dry sand, that's not good, exspecially if you suffer from asthma or any other respiratory issue.
Helpful video! Wow! I have been having issues with my earring backs. I use e6000 for glue and I don’t trust it on its own. I started using liquid translucent clay recently and it looks okay but after this video I started using ur resin to adhere the backings. I am so happy with the outcome and I like having options. The uv resin really gives them a gorgeous look. Thx! Julie @chunkybeaddesigns
Thank you. I'm learning so much. It's like a secret on little steps. Through trial and error I finally get it but I make a lot of mistakes. Mistakes add up.
For the polyclay methods, I see you bake them to cure them. So are you putting the posts on before you bake the whole earring component or are you baking the component, then adhering the post and baking again? Thanks in advance! New subscriber because of this video- SO helpful!
The best solution is the last one. Definitely I avoid using resin. Please read the instructions. It is not healthy. I would like to know how do you solve the shipping of such pieces and how you avoid the posible bending of the metallic parts. Thank you very much. You are adorable.
Happy to see you back! And right on time! I've been trying to get the hang of earring backings and was just about to give up on it. Thanks for this! So helpful 😊
For the polymer clay technique 2, I am lil confused. Do you bake the earrings 10-15mins less the first time? Because you're going to bake it again with the earring post. Or do you bake at the same time written on the package but then bake extra 10mins with the post? Wouldn't it burn this way?
Shreya Kuckian So you can actually bake the posts in the first round of baking-no need to change the baking time from what you normally do. I was just using some pre-baked example pieces. With that you, you can bake the posts on after your pieces have baked. Your first bake can be done as normal and then the second bake with the posts would be about 15mins at 275f in the oven. Let them cool for about 30mins to fully cure!
@@theslowhaus so post clay we need to bake for 15 min only .....One more query if I apply bake n bond on bake clay then need to bake 15 min or how much time .... bcoz on bake n bond bottle instructions to bake 30 minutes so little bit confused ... plz guide
Hello, I'm new to polymer clay things. And I wanna try to put the earring stud cover with the clay. But I wanna know if that's ok to bake the clay right away while the stud stick on the back. I meant isn't it gonna be dangerous to bake with the stud open since it's made of a metal material or u just gonna cover it while on bake?
Please make sure if you use a 2 part resin use a resin mask. Even if the bottle says it's safe to use without one! You only got 1 set of lungs. Also, wear gloves this crap can be dangerous.
